“Olivia is absolutely fantastic! We have some pretty skittish and shy kitties and they took to her like nobody else. We got daily notifications, photos, and even a few videos. We'll definitely choose Olivia in the future if we need a cat sitter again.”

About: I have lots of experience with taking care of both cats and dogs and have been taking care of them for most of my life. I currently am a foster through the humane society and specialize in kittens and dogs. I have lots of experience in all life stages and understand the complexity that comes with each stage. I have a fenced in back yard that is perfect for dogs to play in and work from home which allows me to spend extra time with them. I currently work from home which allows me the flexibility of creating my own schedule. I am able to fit in pet care whenever throughout the week and I am able to plan accordingly around my work. I currently have a fenced in back yard that will allow the dogs to run freely without being on a lead. For my older cat clients I offer a litter box upstairs which would eliminate them from going up and down stairs as frequently. I also take my safety seriously and when walking dogs always have my cell phone readily available as well as leashed walks always.
About: I have experience caring for animals of all ages, from playful ones who need socialization and routine to seniors who may require medication, special diets, or extra comfort and attention. I take the time to build trust at each pet’s pace, ensuring they feel safe and relaxed while you're away. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is receiving loving, reliable care. I’m currently working part time during the summer, and attend college full time. My schedule during the academic year is pretty flexible! I can always work around times. I have my own dog who LOVES to play with others. He goes to doggy daycare almost everyday so he is very social. I also have a cat, who can be social at times but she is usually pretty content with other cats.
About: I grew up on a farm and always had dogs and cats growing up. Friends have trusted me with caring for their dogs multiples times. It is always exciting to meet other pets! Excited to meet your furry friend! I have a full time job working 7:30-4 on weekdays. But am flexible in the evenings depending on the time of year with other activities I have going on I like to spend time with your pet so they can become friendly with me and not scared. I like to make sure they have fun during my time with them!
About: I have had dogs my entire adult life, up to 7 at one time, including a husky. I now only have 1, since I had to move and left the rest with my old roommate (some were his anyway, and I took the one that had chosen me as his human). Every dog I've ever had was properly trained to at least sit on command - with or without a treat. When I had the 7, I could have the pack surround me, and call them one by one for their treat, and only the one called would reach. People have watched my dog's behavior out in public and have aske if I could train their dogs! I have no formal training for dog training, but I did grow up watching Caesar on Animal Planet, and implemented his behavior training techniques with all of my own dogs when they were puppies, or from the time I accepted them in as strays. I have cared for others pets in the past, but not in a professional capacity. I sat for a friend of mine at her house, caring for 3 dogs and a cat. I fed the cat in the morning and at night and cleaned her litter box once a day. The dogs got fed on the same schedule, and spent the majority of the day outside in the fenced back yard unless it was raining. I went outside and threw balls and sticks for them a few times each day, for about an hour or so each time. I currently do not have a job, so I am available full time, any day or time. I have my own dog who prefers to not let me out of his sight, and will cry if I leave him at home alone, so getting a traditional job while living in an apartment is out of the question. With that said, I would need to bring him with me. He is going on 10 years old, and has never met a dog or person he didn't love. I am glad to bring him for a meet and greet before any commitments are made. Every dog has a way to let you know they need something. My dog prefers to attempt cuddles when he needs anything, leaving me playing a guessing game until I get it right. He gets super excited when I get it right! As a senior dog, I leave his food out 24/7, and check it in the mornings when I get up and at night when I go to bed to make sure it's not empty. If I notice that it's empty at any point during the day, I simply refill it. Same with his water. His potty schedule is pretty much the same - first thing in the morning, any time he asks during the day, and then one last trip out at bedtime. I know not every dog can follow this schedule, but I have also had dogs who needed me to set alarms to take them out every hour or two, until they were properly house trained. All I need from you is your dogs schedule.

About: Hey! I’m Jada, all my life i’ve always been surrounded by animals 🐶 Taking the best care of pets is something i strive each day to accomplish! I’m very familiar with dogs & cats of all ages! In 2024 I began working in the dog training industry and have come to learn many interesting skills, some of those include; how to effectively communicate with animals, properly read body language, and build a connection with any pet! Currently, i’m working part time as an accredited dog trainer at Petsmart! I’ve been at this establishment, building my credibility and skills, for 2+ years! Properly reading a pets body language is something i’ve always been good at! Making sure to always respect a pets boundaries is very important in terms of building a successful, positive, and welcoming relationship between the pet and I. As a dog trainer, i acknowledge the important of mental stimulation, and physical stimulation that all dogs require in order to live a happy and healthy life, I also understand that life can be busy! Making it hard to find those little in - between moments to give your pet that little extra loving you know they need! That’s where I step in…and lend a paw 🐾😉!
“Kari was wonderful. Kitty enjoyed seeing and playing with Kari. It was very comforting to see the daily pictures of kitty having a good time, just knowing she was in good hands helped make my vacation easier to enjoy.”

“Kiera was excited to meet my puppy and offered to take him for a walk even when I didn’t request it. He looked happy as could be meeting a new friend and was well taken care of!”

About: I work (not Rover) Thursdays through Mondays, 10am until 4pm. I also work Tuesdays 4-8pm, and every other Thursday from 6:30-10pm. I have a social call with friends Wednesdays 6-7pm. Aside from that, I'm happy to spend time with your darlings! In the morning, I tend to my dogs' physical and mental well being by daily walks and obedience tricks, as well as daily games. I go to work and I assume they sleep. I come home and let them outside for their bathroom break, and I feed them, then snuggle them and play with them at night. Pretty average care. I make sure my dogs are fed, watered, exercised, and trained every day. I like training and exercising in the morning to keep their energy under control while I work during the day. I crate my dogs when no one watches them to provide them with a den to sleep in. When I come home for the day, they are let out and relieved, allowed to play, and so on. I snuggle and talk to them at night. If someone trusts me enough to watch their animals, I would tend to their animals any way I expect someone to tend to mine: with knowledge and care.

This gives me the flexibility to be there for your pup throughout the day while still managing my workload responsibly. Your dog will enjoy having someone around to give them attention, playtime, and the personal care they deserve! Working from home makes pet care easy for me to fit in, since I can handle walks, feeding, and playtime during breaks while still giving the pets constant supervision without disrupting my work. I live in a house with a backyard where I can comfortably host pets and provide a safe, welcoming environment. Dogs have the freedom to enjoy the backyard throughout their stay, giving them space to play, explore, and get some fresh air. About: I have been a dog and cat owner for most of my life. My current fur babies include 2 dogs and a cat, so I know the attention and care needed. I have helped friends and family with their dogs over the years as well with day visits and over night stays. In a client’s home, I follow all instructions to maintain your pet’s normal schedule, including feeding times, walks, medications (if needed), and any specific household rules.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Shindler
Olivia is so amazing and kind to animals. I will 100% be using her everytime and telling everyone about her. I was so sad to leave my kitty behind while I went to my grandmother's funeral, but thankfully I never had to worry because Olivia took such good care of my cat. She sent so many photos and even brought in my packages! We are so thankful.

Moved back to Sioux Falls and needed a cat sitter two weeks later! Didn't think to look online until the last minute, but was relieved to find available sitters nearby on Rover. Ruth's pic with a black cat is what caught my eye (as I also have a black cat). She responded quickly and graciously was available! Very kind and calm demeanor that worked perfectly for my two sometimes cautious kitties. Coco warmed up to her instantly as seen in the sweet pics Ruth uploaded daily. I felt such relief being away knowing the kitties were being well taken care of! Definitely will look forward to having Ruth help out again in the future!

We couldn't be happier with the care our dog received! They were reliable, kind, and kept us updated with photos and messages, which gave us great peace of mind. Our dog was happy, well cared for, and clearly loved spending time with them. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!

Maddy was super flexible with our schedule, which was great. This was our first time leaving our one year old puppy, and he didn't make it easy on Maddy but she was amazing. She continued to work with him through his fears and anxiety. He ended up warming up to Maddy which was great to see. I would recommend Maddy to anyone needing a thoughtful and reliable sitter. Thank you Maddy!

Kelly was the best! She jumped through all our requests and last minute challenges to accomodate our last minute urgent out of town needs. After interviewing 11 Rover sitters she was the only sitter that agreed to all our terms: all last minute and during busy Thanksgiving holiday! SHE ROCKS. Our twin Aussie bothers DARWIN and DAKOTA loved her! After a last minute blizzard she was again able to accomdate our request for changes to time/day Drop In visit. We HIGHLY recommend her to anyone in the greater Sioux Falls area. KELLY WAS AMAZING!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
