“Had a great experience with Madison, she did 3x daily drop in visits for our cat and dog while we were out of town. She was a clear communicator, easy to get ahold of, and sent pics every visit showing the pets playing and getting treats. She also collected our mail and put it on the table. Would recommend!”

“I was in need of a new sitter for my cat and I found Emma! She was very responsive to my requests for bookings. She even did a meet and greet with Tux and I which was very reassuring. I had a last minute change in plans and Emma was able to be flexible with her schedule. Tux and I already have our next booking set up with her.”

“Olivia was the best! She took care of my cat like it was her own! Got pictures every time she did a drop in visit! I would recommend her 💯percent! I am booking her for drop in visits in June!”

“Mikayla was so great with our cats, even when they got into trouble and made a mess. She sent us great photos and I'm confident that our cats were well cared for while we were gone!”

“a wonderful sitter with a great amount of care put into her work! followed care instructions perfectly. would leave my baby in her care again! good picture updates and detailed notes were left for every visit.”

“Anna was wonderful in caring for our dog and cat! This was the longest we have been away from our animals and weren’t sure how they would handle it. They absolutely loved Anna, and she cared for them like they were her own. Her calm and caring demeanor helped them feel at ease. On our return, the house was just how we left it and the animals were happy, showing no signs of anxiety over us being gone. She stayed in contract and kept us informed on how they were doing. It helped put my mind at ease with being gone for so long. Anna was great, we will use her services again and highly recommend her!”

About: I have been a dog and cat owner for most of my life. My current fur babies include 2 dogs and a cat, so I know the attention and care needed. I have helped friends and family with their dogs over the years as well with day visits and over night stays. I currently work PRN as a nurse and typically only work a couple days out of the week, which allows me the time to do this! I prioritize safety, routine, and a calm environment when caring for pets. In a client’s home, I follow all instructions to maintain your pet’s normal schedule, including feeding times, walks, medications (if needed), and any specific household rules.

“Elain arrived promptly for the bathing and grooming appointment for my dog. She was very calm, confident, comfortable and and efficient with the bathing and blow dry. I will definitely continue to have her come regularly to bath and groom my long haired dogs. Highly recommended!”

About: Having two dogs, ages nine and five, has truly shaped my life and deepened my love for animals. Each of them has their own unique personality-one calm and wise with age, the other full of energy and curiosity-and together they keep me constantly on my toes. Whether it's going for walks, playing fetch, or just sharing quiet moments at home, they bring endless joy, laughter, and comfort to my days. Caring for them has taught me patience, responsibility, and the pure happiness that comes from unconditional love. They are both well trained and know and love so any tricks. Throughout the years I’ve been caring for dogs and cats of friends, family and neighbors. Doing all sorts of thing to walking, feeding, taking medication, or even just being at their home. Life with them can be busy, but I wouldn't want it any other way! I'm a hairstylist currently building up my clientele, which means my schedule is still pretty flexible throughout the day. Because of that, I have plenty of time between appointments to take on something I love, spending time with dogs! That's why applying to Rover is such a great fit for me. It allows me to fill those open parts of my day by helping pet owners who need someone reliable to stop by and let their pups outside, give them some attention, and make sure they're happy while their owners are away. It's a perfect balance between growing my salon business and doing something rewarding with my extra time. I treat every pet like they're part of my own family. In my home, I make sure pets have a comfortable place to rest, fresh water, regular meals, and plenty of playtime and cuddles. Safety is my top priority, so l keep a close eye on them and make sure the environment is pet-friendly. When I'm in a client's home, I always respect their routines and space. I stick to the pet's usual schedule so they feel comfortable, and I give regular updates and photos to the owner. My goal is to make every pet feel loved, safe and cared for just like they would with their own family there.
About: I have over 10 years of experience with dogs big or small. I’ve had 3 different dogs in my house growing up and have also volunteered at the Sioux Falls humane society. I am currently working full-time and I am on a rotating schedule so I have every other weekend, or Tuesdays and Fridays off. I am available most mornings and evenings. I care for all animals like they are my own. I enjoy giving them all of the love and attention they need. I currently have a 4 year old american bull dog mix, 2 frogs, and 5 fish. I am allergic to cats, so I will love them from afar, if needed I can feed and change litter boxes.
“Josie was a absolute help during our trip out of town. This is first time using this app in years and was a bit apprehensive ,but Josie demonstrated a strong line of communication and our family started to feel better about choosing her. Ultimately her punctuality, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions as requested easily relinquished our concerns of trusting a stranger with our fur babies. We received photos during the visit and watched through our cameras, both Potata and núðla were having a blast like they and Josie have been long forgotten separated friends . We are confident if you have any apprehension about your choice of animal care. You won't be dissatisfied with Josie's service .”

About: I have had dogs my entire adult life, up to 7 at one time, including a husky. I now only have 1, since I had to move and left the rest with my old roommate (some were his anyway, and I took the one that had chosen me as his human). Every dog I've ever had was properly trained to at least sit on command - with or without a treat. When I had the 7, I could have the pack surround me, and call them one by one for their treat, and only the one called would reach. People have watched my dog's behavior out in public and have aske if I could train their dogs! I have no formal training for dog training, but I did grow up watching Caesar on Animal Planet, and implemented his behavior training techniques with all of my own dogs when they were puppies, or from the time I accepted them in as strays. I have cared for others pets in the past, but not in a professional capacity. I sat for a friend of mine at her house, caring for 3 dogs and a cat. I fed the cat in the morning and at night and cleaned her litter box once a day. The dogs got fed on the same schedule, and spent the majority of the day outside in the fenced back yard unless it was raining. I went outside and threw balls and sticks for them a few times each day, for about an hour or so each time. I currently do not have a job, so I am available full time, any day or time. I have my own dog who prefers to not let me out of his sight, and will cry if I leave him at home alone, so getting a traditional job while living in an apartment is out of the question. With that said, I would need to bring him with me. He is going on 10 years old, and has never met a dog or person he didn't love. I am glad to bring him for a meet and greet before any commitments are made. Every dog has a way to let you know they need something. My dog prefers to attempt cuddles when he needs anything, leaving me playing a guessing game until I get it right. He gets super excited when I get it right! As a senior dog, I leave his food out 24/7, and check it in the mornings when I get up and at night when I go to bed to make sure it's not empty. If I notice that it's empty at any point during the day, I simply refill it. Same with his water. His potty schedule is pretty much the same - first thing in the morning, any time he asks during the day, and then one last trip out at bedtime. I know not every dog can follow this schedule, but I have also had dogs who needed me to set alarms to take them out every hour or two, until they were properly house trained. All I need from you is your dogs schedule.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
