“Michelle & Dave are so incredibly responsive, responsible and professional. It gave us such peace of mind to know they were watching our curious pup while we attended a graduation far away!”

“Corrinne was fantastic! I reached out for a last-minute weekend with my senior dog and had no worries while I was away. I was sent updates and my dog was happy and content”

“Peach was absolutely amazing! She brought the kindest, most gentle and warm energy to our home when she came to stay with our pup for a couple of days. She was very communicative throughout the entire duration we were gone, as well as in the days leading up to our trip. I'm not sure what we would have done without here! I would highly recommend Peach for overnight stays with your pup. She's extremely thorough, kind and trustworthy. We'll certainly be reaching out to her for any future stay needs! :)”

About: Donna and I started taking care of dogs when we lost our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Dutchin. We got her when she was 3 months old and she was our baby. When she crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we couldn't bring ourselves to get another dog, but wanted to still experience the joy that dogs bring to our lives. We decided to provide both care and a safe, loving home for other people's pets while their humans are away or otherwise unable to care for them short-term. This way, we can give you peace of mind in knowing your best friend is safe and happy, and we get to interact with all kinds of dogs, which gives us great joy! Your friend will get all the love and attention you give them; and, well, if we spoil them a bit too much, sorry (not sorry)! We are both retired, so we have plenty of time to care for your pets whether in our home or yours. We are available for walks, drop in visits and overnight boarding in our home. When boarding with us, your fur baby will never be alone as someone is always home. We have a large fenced-in yard where your dog can run and play off leash safely. Are your pets used to making themselves at home on the couch? Not a problem! They are more than welcome to snuggle up on ours. If you wish to make your pet a little more at home, you may bring your pet's bed, toys and/or crate.
“Ty literally came to the rescue for us. He was accommodating and so understanding of our ever changing plans. He arrived on time and was very communicative. When we arrived home our dog seemed quite content. We will use Ty again.”

“Arianna was amazing! She was super communicative, super professional, extremely friendly, and sent tons of pictures of Basil while I was away. I would definitely recommend her for house/ pet sitting and would absolutely book her again.”

“Janine took great care of our young puppy! She was responsive to our needs, on time, very responsible and provided loving care for our puppy! 🐶 highly recommend her.”

“Lauren is a great communicator and wonderful dog sitter. She watched our older golden retriever and poodle mix and they LOVED her. She was very respectful of our house; we will definitely be contacting her again in the future.”

“This was the first time I've left my puppy overnight and I was nervous about it, but Caley was so sweet and she put my mind at ease. She sent me the cutest pictures ever while I was gone and I came home to a happy puppy. Would definitely recommend her!”
“We two humans, along with Felix-the Dog, all feel like we made a new friend in Kathleen! Felix, who is not always sure about new people he meets, immediately took to Kathleen when she came to our home for a meet-and-greet. Kathleen sensed Felix’s apprehension and quickly put him at ease with her calm, affectionate, low-key response. On the basis of our visit, we mutually agreed to have Kathleen stay with Felix a few days later while we enjoyed a quick 24-hour getaway. While we were away, we had good, clear communication by text message. Although we were delayed getting home, Kathleen volunteered to stay until we returned so she could give us a verbal report, which we appreciated very much. When she left, Felix’s dejected body-language showed he was sad to see her go; clearly he had enjoyed her company. We look forward with confidence to having Kathleen stay with Felix again.”

About: [I CAN NOT ACCEPT BOOKINGS THAT HAVE A DROP OFF TIME PRIOR TO 12:30PM, DUE TO A CONFLICTING WORK SCHEDULE.] Hi, my name is Rose! I am an experienced pet sitter with 20+ years providing love and care to peoples fur babies! I have an EXTREME passion for animal care and a dedication to quality service. For me it’s not all about the money! It’s about making sure your fur babies have a safe and loving place to be, while you’re away! [Whether it be for the day, for a few days, or even for a month or longer!] I am extremely reliable and trustworthy, with experience in administering medication and shots, caring for senior pets and puppies, and providing the best companionship for your pets, including going to the beach during the summer! Please consider me as your new or even returning client! You won’t regret it! [I also send each pet home with a new toy and a goody bag!] I have cared for a wide variety of animals. This includes dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and so much more! My ultimate goal is to ensure each and every pet is in the best care and has the most comfort. Pets are family, and I believe in providing each pet, with the same love and care I would offer my own furry companions. To ensure a pets safety, and to gain their trust, I always offer them patience. It’s always best to be calm with pets that are withdrawn or scared. All pets can be sensitive to change and may be missing their owners. I always make sure to maintain their schedule as much as possible. When the pet is settled, I will send lots of pictures to the client, because the owners are more than likely nervous as well. I never open doors without making sure all pets are safe, and I do allow pets to sleep in bed with me. It’s always comforting for pets to feel safe and loved.
“Jacklyn was amazing! I was very nervous that my dog would be scared, and Jak put me at ease with great communication and videos. She was able to get my shy dog to warm up to her, through cuddles, frequent play sessions, and time outside. She definitely knows how to work with animals and I would recommend her!”

“Katherine was great - she stayed overnight at our house and she took great care of our animals and house. She kept us updated with pictures and videos of all the animals. She was very flexible when we were returning home and her communication was overall excellent. We'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their animals!”

About: I have taken care of dogs since I was 10, including my own dog! Neighbors, friends, and family can rely on me to give their pets ample attention, long walks, and personal care. I am comfortable with dogs of many sizes and ages. I have experience working with senior dogs who require medication and special treatment, as well as puppies who need extra care while they learn the ropes. I work part-time and have an active lifestyle, so I can accommodate long walks during the day or stop by visits on the weekends. I have my own dog, whom I love to bring on off-leash walks multiple times a day, and who is friendly with other animals. I have a small fenced-in backyard, and a small dog who gets along well with others. Our backyard has a door with a handle rather than a doggy door that requires me to let the dogs out and watch them while they play to ensure their ultimate safety.
About: I have worked at a cat boarding facility for the better part of five years. I have many pets and experience with the following; medicine administration, injecting insulin, monitoring the cats’ health and appetite, cleaning, and making sure each and every cat got the adequate attention they needed. In addition to this I have also pet sat for dogs and cats for years. Most of customers were regulars and I got to get to know each animal very well. I have also had both a dog and a cat my whole life, so I know what it is like to not only constantly care for a pet, but also love and worry about them, which is why I take such pride in ensuring my customers have complete peace knowing I will care for their pets! I am a college student and am available most afternoons, but have more freedoms Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the weekends. My schedule can be very flexible though. My main concern in caring for pets is their health and safety. I will always make sure they are doing well and have all the care they need in that aspect. I also will make sure they are happy and receiving the attention from me they need. I will always follow any and all instructions left on caring for pets.
“Kadence was wonderful at looking after my dog. She was patient during his "warm up" phase but got him to settle down and settle in. Unfortunately he needed at trip to the emergency vet and Kadence handled it calmly and competently. We had good communication throughout my vacation and I returned home to a happy dog and clean house.”

About: Excited to return to Rover! I've owned and surrounded myself with dogs (and other pets) my entire life and love it! My pups are my best friends and adventure buddies. Friends and family often call on me to help care for and train their canine friends or for advice because of my experience from working with various temperaments and behaviors. I also used to foster dogs and plan to return to that at some point. I love all breeds, ages, and sizes and find they all have unique personalities, just like people! I provide much love and attention, but know when to be a stern pack leader to keep everyone safe and in check! I use positive reinforcement and correction/redirection over discipline and I believe more exercise and encouragement can make most dogs a "good dog." Dogs tend to love me and are responsive to my leadership style. I currently work per diem and part-time so my schedule is often flexible and I love to fill my down time with furry friends I find the most critical care to be love, pats & praise, and structure & consistency. When it comes to others’ pets, I want to provide individualized care that is consistent with their daily life, so I try to incorporate owners’ standards and parenting styles. I recognize consistency is key to communicate with dogs and reduce their stress. Let me know how to accommodate you and your pet.
About: i am a parent to one big boy cat named Kemper! I grew up owning dogs and kittens and have never been able to live without a pet. My cat may possibly be my best friend and i’m okay with it but we could use a break sometimes from real people. I have watched pets for friends/ co workers/ family for multiple years and have completed training for dogs with aggression in the past. Watching others pets keeps me for trying to adopt every pet i see! I work at an autism day program M-F from 8:30-4pm so I have morning and nights available for whatever care is needed for every individual pet! I have had pets with health issues so I am super accommodating to their needs. My cat is extremely affectionate so attention needy animals are welcomed!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Salisbury
We just had Caitlyn stay with our two dogs for over a week while we were away and couldn’t be happier when we returned home to two happy pups. One of our dogs is 13 years old and needs a lot of dedicated attention and care to make sure he eats and Caitlyn did a wonderful job doing so. We received daily updates and pictures and never had a doubt how they were doing while we were away. Would highly recommend Caitlyn and will certainly hire her again!
Arianna was so wonderful with our two young German Shorthaired Pointers. Our dogs are very active and Arianna spent significant time both walking and playing with them, which they loved. We also appreciate Arianna’s communication and flexibility. Our boys will be happy to have her as a sitter again!

I wish I could leave 10 stars. Jennifer is absolutely incredible. She has taken care of our dog a few times and each time our trip is 1000x better knowing our dog is in amazing care. She went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure our noise sensitive dog was as comfortable as possible while sitting for the 4th of July weekend. Her communication is amazing and she provides many updates of a very very happy dog. She is just THE BEST!

FAQs for House Sitting - Salisbury
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Salisbury on Rover is $94.35 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,154 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Salisbury. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Salisbury walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Salisbury maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Salisbury choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Salisbury. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
