“Claudia is AMAZING—she is reliable, consistent, and such a pleasure to work with—she is very attentive to our dog’s needs and always goes above and beyond to ensure each visit goes well. It is such a relief to know our dog is well loved and cared for when we are away. Thanks Claudia!!!”

“Daniella was amazing! She was super communicative, reliable, and clearly cared so much about my dog. I loved the updates and photos—it gave me so much peace of mind. My dog was happy and well taken care of when I got back. I already booked with her again and highly recommend her!”

“Madeleine was dependable and resourceful. I left a feral cat in her care and he was more challenging than I expected. Bernie had not been socialized and ran away whenever Madeleine came. But she stayed, talked to him and tried to coach him over to her. She also made sure that he had food and water to drink. I know that her care insured Bernie being here when I came home. I appreciate it.”

“The best cat sitter you could ever ask for!!!! Kim goes above and beyond if there is any issue. She took lots of extra care on our very anxious cat and even alerted us to an unwanted swarm of bees that broke into our house. She put all my anxiety at rest knowing our kitty was being so loved. Our 3rd time hiring her and won’t be our last!”

“The dogs were so happy when we got home. It was a great way to end our vacation. Sarah was wonderful and kept us informed. Knowing Sarah was taking care of our dogs made us feel so comfortable. It was very nice to not worry about your animals while trying to enjoy some time away. Thank you!!!”

“I’ve used Hope a few times for Petsitting and she has done a fabulous job. She is responsive, responsible and professional. It means so much to know your fur babies are being cared for when you aren’t home. Highly recommend.”

“I had a great experience with this Hannah. They were reliable, caring, and kept me updated throughout the process. My dog was happy and well looked after when I returned.”

“So glad I found Abby!! She took care of my cat so well and calmed this anxious cat mom with regular updates and pictures! I’ll definitely use her the next time I need a sitter!”

“Lauryn took incredible care of our cat for a little over three weeks. We know our cat wasn't the easiest at first with her injections, and we are so grateful to Lauryn and her husband for stepping up, trying different things, and finding a creative way to handle an elderly cat safely. It gave us total peace of mind knowing she was in such capable and caring hands. Thank you for going above and beyond. We highly recommend Lauryn!”

About: I have had dogs in the family my whole life and our cat is a treasure to our family. I’ve recently said goodbye to our sweet elderly dog and my heart yearns for more four-legged friends although I'm not ready to commit to adopting just yet! Caring for your pet will help mend some cracks in my heart! I have experience hosting friends’ dogs during their family trips and helping family and neighbors with their pets. My family has also included birds and fish! I have just exited education to go back to school so I have flexible availability for this work. I am currently at home going back to school while my children all attend school during the daytime. It has never been a better time for me to enjoy this type of work! I have a fenced yard with grass and a lovely neighborhood for walking! I have a two story home and dogs are welcome on main level (baby gate on stairs) Hard floors make for easy cleaning.
“Penny was so wonderful with our bulldog Kimber. She was always came when I scheduled her and Kimber was a happy girl when we came home. Thank you very much Penny!! Until Kimber sees you again on our next trip. 😊”

About: From puppies to seniors, I’ve been around dogs my whole life, at least three dogs in my house my whole life. I learned to be responsible and became infatuated with pet-behaviors and learning the way every pet wants to be interacted with. I’ve also grown to love rescues, and have two of my own. While I’m not lucky enough to be a full-time animal enthusiast as my career, my favorite “hobby” is anything to do with dogs, the best way to take care of them, and make sure they enjoy their life. I have two pets of my own, one with special needs. I quite literally view them both as my own children, and do everything I can to know they feel and get treated that way. My pup gets her walks, play time, down time and routine care every day (along with all the snuggles), and as long as he gets attention (and maybe some chicken tubes) my kitty is happy. Even with working full time, I make sure they are my number one my priority. I quite literally view my own pets as my own children, and I know they will always be that way. My boyfriend finds it a bit much, but before her walks, my dog gets her puppy shoes on and off we go, to make sure she doesn’t get her burnt feet. I tend to be a bit of a worry-wart about my pets, I monitor their behavior and actions constantly. As soon as something may seem off with one of them, I’m already making calls and doing research as to what it may be. Thankfully, even with one pet of mine high risk for liver and kidney problems, they have been happy, healthy, and active pets (even with an apartment) since I’ve had them. My priority is always safety no matter the pet.
About: I love all dogs and Gods creatures. I have been around animals all my life. I used to sit outside as a kid on my grandmas porch giving the stray cats attention. If anyone in my family had a dog I would find myself on the floor spending quality time with the dog. I also have a special place in my heart for elderly dogs. I want them to be comfortable and happy. I work part time from home, so I have plenty of time to give care and love to your dog. I can also take them for walks if they need exercise! I have a fenced in back yard for your dog to run around and have potty breaks. I can make a cozy spot at bedtime for your pet if you are able to provide their crate. I will make sure they are fed, safe and happy.
“Lillian has been so helpful for me and my family. My dog absolutely adores her and she always does a fantastic job. She also was able to drop by and take care of my pets when I was away. She is such a blessing and it was so lovely working with her.”

“Karien was amazing! Every visit she was on time and really spent time loving on Jack. She walked him and even fed him by hand when he was stubborn to eat his kibbles! She kept me informed everyday which really made my trip go so much smoother knowing he was in such great hands! Since I have been home I can tell he is looking for her to walk in the door, he misses her already!”

About: I have owner various pets throughout my life and there has never been a time that I have not had an animal in my house. We relocated to the USA two years ago, and have recently adopted a 1 year old Cavapoo. I am currently not working, and my husband works from home, so there is usually someone at home. My kids do take part in sports, so I usually use their practices as outings for the pets I watch and take them along. If you are not comfortable witb this, please let me know. Unfortunately no aggressive breeds are permitted at my home. I am happy to come to your home to spend time with your pets, giving cuddles and taking them for walks in safe neighborhoods. I do not have pets at my home so I am able to take care of your small pets at my home. I have a fenced garden area for potty breaks.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Roanoke. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
