About: I can't remember a time without a furry (or occasionally aloof, whiskered) friend by my side. I literally came home from the hospital to a wagging tail — my family's dog was my first welcome committee, and honestly, it's been downhill ever since. In the best way. I've shared my home with cats who ran the place like tiny CEOs, and two dogs who kept me on my toes and taught me more about patience than any human ever has. If you've got a dog who needs zoomies and belly rubs, or a cat who'll deign to acknowledge my existence on her own schedule, I speak both languages fluently. I'm also a proud supporter of the Santa Barbara Humane Society — animals have given me enough joy over the years that giving back isn't optional, it's just what you do. When you leave your pet with me, you're not getting a stranger who "loves animals" in the vague, profile-filler kind of way. You're getting someone who will send you the update photos, learn your dog's weird quirks or your cat's exact opinion of strangers, and treat your critter like my own — because that's the whole job. I recently said goodbye to my beloved companion, and while I'm not quite ready to welcome a new furry friend into my own home yet, caring for other people's pets has been incredibly meaningful. About: I have a lot of love and experience with animals! My family has always loved animals, and I’ve grown up having multiple dogs throughout my life. I’m very comfortable caring for dogs of different personalities and love spending time playing with them, giving them attention, and taking them on walks. “I have a Great Pyrenees puppy, newly rescued off the L.A. streets a couple of weeks ago, with no I.D. or training at all. She is big and strong and I am not, so I needed the right dog-walker for the 50-pound dog, and picked Kayla K. because she raised her own 100-lb. Labrador from his puppyhood. I cannot praise Kayla enough! We started with a dog dancing around, getting tangled underfoot, and grabbing the leash like a toy. That behavior is nearly all gone now. Kayla is prompt, warm, friendly, outgoing, brought the right collar/leash combo. (now I've bought my own). My puppy gets excited when she hears Kayla's car in the driveway, and greets her joyously, and comes home nicely tired out and smiling. I took my dog yesterday to a professional dog trainer to get some help with crating and commands (like down and come), and he, a professional, was extremely impressed with my dog's calm heeling abilities that she had acquired, thanks to Kayla.”

I had my chihuahua for 14 years and went through all the stages with him. I was the family and neighborhood dog/cat and house sitter until I moved away for college. I’m a recent college graduate who just moved back to SB and am looking for some enjoyable work while I sort out my gap years. I love all animals and know I would love hanging out with your pet!
