Kaitlin showed amazing patience with my dog and did everything she could to make him comfortable over the five days I was away. It was wonderful to see how he took to her. She shared details about his behavior and anything that raised a minor concern along the way. Highly recommend!

She is great we have 3 dog and 2 of them can be a little problematic, one is super anxious and bites when she is scared.... But for Suzanne it was just another day. Suzanne is very good a getting back to you as soon as possible, you are getting a true professional sitter vs someone who does it as a hobby. Look no further Suzanne is one of the best sitters rover has to offer!

Maria was great to work with. She took excellent care of my 3 cats and Cane Corso while we were away on a 5 day trip. We opted for her to stay at the house since our pets love having company and can get a little anxious when we are gone. She kept us updated with pictures and the status of everyone. Our home was also as we left it. Highly recommend.

About: I’ve had dogs since I was 2. I have looked after dogs, cats, and guinea pigs of various ages since 12. I love caring for pets and have a dog of my own! I also volunteer at animal shelters when I have the chance. I’m working part time so I will have plenty of time to play with your pet! During summer I will especially have loads of availability. I have a crate trained dog who is very friendly and can keep your pet company. I have a spacious apartment but am flexible to take care of your pet wherever!

About: I have over 10 years of experience in pet-sitting, which means I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, cats, sick animals, and behaviorally-challenged animals. I am also a proud pet owner myself - I have a 14-year old rescue dog named Greta, and I often cared for 3 of my roommates' cats in college (Luna, Socks, and Boo Radley). What sets me apart from other sitters is that I will care for your pet like they are my own, meaning constant love and attention, as well as careful attention to detail. I take your care instructions very seriously and follow directions to a tee. Every pet has unique needs, and it is my pleasure to not only meet those needs but also to make sure they are happy and as calm as can be. Because I work remotely, I can be available to pet-sit all day if needed. If my family isn't home, I will need to return a few times a day to care for my own furry friend, but please know that being of service to you means YOUR pet is the priority! Unfortunately, my pup (Greta) is pretty antisocial, which means I am unable to host dogs at my house. Because I live with my parents, they can take care of Greta while I am gone, and I am more than happy to stay at your house as long or as often as you need. I will always make sure your pet gets fed accurately, adequately, and punctually, and always has fresh water available. I also love to play with pets and make sure they get enough outdoor time and exercise if needed! Additionally, I always clean up after myself and your pet, and I make it my goal to leave your home just as it was when I arrived, if not cleaner. If I stay overnight, I always wash the sheets and linens, as well as clean any counter or surface I use.

Absolutely wonderful! For starters, my three dogs loved her! Even the one who is a little grumpy. She stayed in our house for three nights and looked after our dogs while there. She was very communicative, prompt, and respectful of our home! It looked like no one had even stayed there. Would love to book her services again (if our diaper dog didn't scare her off)!

About: I have experience with dogs/animals of all types! Being raised on a hobby farm, I grew up with a deep love for animals and have cared for dogs, cats, horses, goats, rabbits, and small rodents. I currently have a senior husky with epilepsy and a hospice foster dog at home, so I am very comfortable working with seniors or animals who might have some extra needs. Recently, I worked for a private client in Baltimore city doing drop-in visits and overnight stays in my home 3-4 days a week, caring for a 100lb Labrador Retriever. I would love to get to know your best friend (and you)! Please reach out with any additional questions! I am currently preparing to start my graduate internship in mental health counseling. Due to this, I currently have a lot of available time and flexibility in my work schedule. Making sure your pet stays safe and happy while I’m with them is my main priority. You’re the expert on your pet, so I will always listen to your wishes/rules for your pet and home while I’m there.

About: I have owned dogs my entire life, from energetic puppies to senior dogs. I also occasionally foster dogs to support my local shelter and have experience pet-sitting for neighbors’ and friends’ dogs and cats. I am a fast learner with strong attention to detail, and I take pride in following instructions carefully. I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment for both you and your pet. I am currently on winter break from college, which means I have a very open and flexible schedule. I am available for as many pet visits as needed and can easily accommodate multiple check-ins, extended visits, or last-minute requests. I’m happy to work around your pet’s routine to ensure they receive consistent, attentive care. I provide attentive, reliable care that prioritizes each pet’s comfort, safety, and routine, whether I’m caring for them in my home or in their owner’s home. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medication needs if applicable, exercise, and enrichment. For dogs, this includes regular walks, playtime, and companionship tailored to their energy level—from energetic puppies to senior dogs. For cats, I focus on feeding, litter box maintenance, playtime, and calm companionship while respecting their individual personalities and comfort levels. I have experience caring for pets through lifelong dog ownership, fostering animals from local shelters, and pet-sitting for neighbors’ and friends’ dogs and cats. I pay close attention to details, maintain a clean and safe environment, and make sure pets feel secure and stress-free while their owners are away. With my flexible schedule during winter break, I am available for multiple visits and can adapt easily to your pet’s needs.

We could not have asked for a better sitter than Sejal. She took care of my Boston Terrier after a last minute request, and sent regular pictures and updates. She went above and beyond when Mavis had a health emergency. Sejal took her to the Pet ER and stayed with her for 7 hours, keeping me updated the whole time. Her communication is top notch, and the love and care she had for Mavis was apparent. I cannot recommend Sejal enough for anyone needing a dog sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Riderwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Riderwood on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 3,544 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Riderwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Riderwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Riderwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Riderwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Riderwood. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
