“Leslie is THE BEST! We were a little worried because this was the first time we left our dog with someone new, but after doing a meet and greet we knew our dog Roxy would be in great hands. During the stay she sent us plenty of pictures and videos updates and Roxy was smiling on them haha we could tell she was happy and enjoying her time with Leslie. She took her on walks, concert, dog park and gave her plenty of cuddles, which Roxy is a big fan! I would/will recommend Leslie to friends and family and here too! She will be the best person to take care of your furry baby with lots of love and fun! Again, thank you Leslie!!!”

“Karen is my go-to! She takes great care of Peanut and sends great pictures every day - which really help when I’m missing my puppy! And Peanut always has a great time with Karen - I’m never worried about her while she’s there.”

“Parker really enjoyed her stay with Andrew and his family! She came home very happy and relaxed. Andrew was a great communicator, sharing lots of updates and cute pictures. He made sure she was comfortable at all times and ensured she was okay sleeping on the first level when she showed apprehension at the stairs. As an experienced dog-owner, Andrew was confident regarding Parker's specific care instructions and ensured she had all her meds and food. I am looking forward to booking Andrew again, I know Parker will be excited to spend more time there!”

“I'm so glad I found Amethyst ☺️ she was wonderful with my dog Q. She sent me regular photos of Q (I don't know how she made my dog sit still and be such a good model for photos haha but she managed well!) and updates and always made sure his needs were met. And she was also very flexible and accommodating about last minute changes I had to do cause another sitter canceled. But it's all good, since I was able to book with Amethyst ☺️ My Q had a really great time with her! Thank you! 10/10 recommended her 👌”

“We left Pojo with Sujan for little over 3 weeks. We got regular updates - pictures and messages on the walks, the foods and treats Sujan would make him. He also gave him a bath before we arrived to pick him. We’re very thankful to have found Sujan and deeply appreciate the care and love he gave Pojo. Thank you Sujan!!”

About: I've had a dog in my home my entire life, and am always the one my friends/family turn to if they need someone to look after their pets. I have also fostered multiple dogs with leash reactivity, and have had some 1-1 work with an R+ (positive reinforcement) trainer to ensure pups can have the best experience out and about in the world while still getting their sniffs and exercise in. I occasionally run outside so I can offer to run with your pup(s) 1-2 times a week if you'd like, and I live 5 minutes away from Baron Cameron park if you like for them to play with other pups during the day at a dog park as well. Or of course we can just snuggle most of the day while I work from home. Well either way there will be lots of snuggles and pets... My last dog passed away in 2025 after a year long battle with cancer, so I have no problem giving medicine and making sure we stay on a strict schedule with food/medicine if that is what your dog needs. I look forward to becoming your pup's new best friend! I work part-time from home. I'm available for day-sitting while you're at work or overnight boarding when you're out of town. I'm typically up by 7:30, have a fenced in backyard, go on walks/runs throughout the day and love going to the dog park if your pup enjoys it! I have a 6 foot fence in my backyard that your pup can play around in. Take 2-3 x 25 minute walks around the neighborhood throughout the day and can occasionally go for 30-60 minute jogs if your pup enjoys more exercise (1-2/week)
“Sandy came home pleasantly exhausted! We got regular photos, had easy communication, and very flexible dropoff/pickup with Carla. We have had our pup there twice and will return!”

“Carl is very communicative by sending me photos of Mochi with lots of updates! We met ahead of time at the dog park to make sure our dogs got along and he was very accommodating with all the time changes! Will definitely book him again to look after Mochi!”

“Kiran was polite, efficient, and a good communicator. He also was timely and considerate of my time. He sent photos throughout the stay and responds in a timely fashion. He followed our routines for our German Shepherd and overall very cordial. He was adept at handling a large strong dog and had a positive style of interacting with him. We would not hesitate to request his services again.”

“We cannot recommend John and Joanna highly enough! They took wonderful care of our two dachshunds and went above and beyond in every way. Their communication was outstanding, we received regular updates and fun photos that reassured us our pups were happy and in great hands while we were away. John and Joanna’s attentiveness and compassion truly stood out, especially during a thunderstorm. Knowing our pups are afraid of thunder, they took the time to check in on them and offer extra cuddles, which meant the world to us. They also made sure our dog received his daily skin treatments, which we deeply appreciated. John and Joanna set the standard for what pet care should look like. Warm, responsive, and truly dedicated.”

“Fen received the best care while staying with Jennifer, her family, and their pupper Henry. Jennifer provided photos and updates throughout the weekend and always responded within minutes to my messages. Would love to have her care for our Fen again anytime!”

“Omar and his family took such great care of my Bella while I was away. From the moment I dropped her off, I could tell she was in a warm, welcoming environment. She had a blast playing with the other dogs and soaking up all the attention they gave her. What really stood out was the communication. Omar kept me updated with messages, and pictures which made it so much easier being away from her. I could see she was happy, relaxed, and truly being cared for like one of their own. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. Bella came home happy, and that says everything.”

“Kendall pampered our pups with attention. We could not have asked for a better dog sitter. Both our dogs arrived happy and left happier. Daily updates, picture and a send-off gift to boot! Thanks Kendall!”

“We boarded our 6-month old puppy with Ninfa for 2 weeks and he had an amazing time. She was very attentive to him and to all of our questions as it was our first time boarding him. She sent us updates and pictures every day. Overall an amazing experience and I definitely would board him again with Ninfa.”

“Renata was fantastic. She cared for dapper for a week and sent many pictures. We couldn’t be happier with how well she took care of him we will definitely use her again.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Reston
This was our second time booking with Gilbert, and we couldn’t be happier! He and his family take such great care of Oz, and we love the personal attention he gets — plus the bonus trips to the gym. Gilbert will always be our first choice for pet sitting, and it should be yours too!

Amethyst was great! Daily updates (photos/videos), and was very mindful of the weather with it being so hot (over 90 degrees during my dog’s stay); she made sure my Zeus was hydrated, protected his paws, and ensured walk breaks were safe (time of day, duration, etc). I actually booked Amethyst again for next month and I’m sure Zeus will be excited to see her again very soon!

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.
94% of Reston sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Reston landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.
If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Reston home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Reston.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Reston sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
