A Home Away from Home!Central City, Los Angeles, CA

Welcome to my profile! My name is Rebecca. I am a stay at home mom who loves all kinds of animals. I have been sitting through Rover now for about 6 years and have had such a wonderful time getting to know so many doggies and their owners. I am available during Covid19 please contact me if you need assistance!

My small cozy home is perfect for your pups. It has a large yard with a high fence, plenty of shady spots, and lots of room to play. There is a local park that's great for walking dogs. My daughter is a little dog whisper and all the pups love when she gets home from school! I do request that your dogs be good with children.

I offer discounted prices for multiple night stays and monthly work hour daycare. I am available for pickup and drop off services within the local vicinity. I send out photo's daily and a summary of your pup's day. For long stays your pup will always be returning home freshly bathed and brushed. I understand most dogs are on a special diet, and request that the owner provide enough food for the duration of the stay. I am available everyday starting at 6:30 am and almost every major holiday.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Why I love dog sitting

I've had dogs from the time I was a baby until my early 20's. As a kid I can't remember a time when I didn't have at least one dog following me around. To me dogs just give me a feeling of safety and love you can't get anywhere else.

About my yard

I have a large L shaped backyard part is K9 artificial turf and part is concrete. There are trees that provide shade also a large canopy area for additional shade. The entire yard is surrounded in 6 foot fence with a gate that is about 10 foot tall and locked on the inside. Outdoor cameras are installed as well.

My experience administering medication

As long as proper instructions are included I have no problem administering oral or injected medications.

Sunny Yard, Big Home & FT Host!Rancho Park, Los Angeles, CA

I **AM** STILL BOOKING STAYS during the COVID-19 crisis. My dogs and I are 100% Stay At Home compliant.

ADDITIONAL COVID-details: I do NOT walk guest dogs; they and “use” only my backyard, so they are also safe from encountering others during their stay. I do NOT allow people in my home; we would hand-off a leash(Ed) in my yard - only your pup(s) would enter the house. I’m happy to give your dog a bath (for a small fee) and/or use dog-safe cleaning wipes with them before pickup. Please contact me with any questions or concerns BEFORE booking, so we can be sure all necessary precautions can be adequately accommodated! Stay safe & healthy!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I’m currently ONLY able to take SMALL breed dogs.

ADDITIONAL INFO: ALL my guest pups *must* be altered; have complete & up-to-date vaccinations; and be friendly with other dogs of *all* shapes & sizes. I typically have 3 dogs everyday (this includes my own 2 and another that usually comes for daycare 7 days a week). Guest dogs *must* be friendly with ALL dogs AND be able to warm-up quickly to MULTIPLE dogs at once. My environment is probably best described as a cross between a posh pet hotel & a private dog park, so at this time I *cannot* accommodate requests that require no other dogs be here!

NOW ONTO THE GOOD STUFF:

Owners tell me their dog(s) get excited as they turn down my street. Most of my pups run off to their favorite spot or toy (or both!) when they arrive, so you may want to prepare your "Goodbye!" at the door!

DAYCARE & BOARDING DETAILS:

I try to make the pet sitting/boarding experience as EASY as it can be for you and your pet(s). My schedule is very flexible and I am always available to keep your pup longer than you initially book; I do not have "black-out" dates that would leave you without a sitter in an emergency! I prefer AM drop-offs no earlier than 7:00 and PM pick-ups no later than 10:00 - although there is some “wiggle room!” **

**PLEASE NOTE**

DAYCARE RATES: “Regular” daycare covers an 8 hour period. Daycare stays over 8 hours and up to 12 hours and/or pickups/drop-offs outside of 7-10 AM and 4-7 PM will incur an extra $10 fee.

BOARDING RATES: Boarding covers a 24 hour period, so an additional fee for daycare may apply. A surcharge for drop-offs/pick-ups outside of the 7-10 AM and 4-7 PM window may also apply.

**I reserve the right to enforce what (if any) additional fees will be charged per stay. Since you APPROVE of and CONFIRM the total stay cost at the time of your request, and if/when any modifications to pricing are made, none of these charges should ever come as a surprise to you! I am *fully* transparent about total cost(s) BEFORE you are ever charged. **

I watch a variety of dog sizes, ages & energy levels - however they ALL get along swimmingly and are generally a very *chill* group. Since I have a mix of dogs, all my guests MUST be completely friendly with ALL other types of dogs. I have never had an issue with dogs in my pack getting along, as I conduct meet & greets to determine the “fit” of every member of the pack before a stay (even a daycare stay). More on meet & greets, below.

While I do watch a number of dogs, the house and yard are very spacious - so everyone can socialize, relax, play, nap, etc., when and where they like without being overwhelmed. Owners tell me their dogs come home “tuckered out, in a good way!” In other words, they’re relaxed and/or tired because they had a good stay, *not* because they were over-stimulused all day and pass out from nervous exhaustion (as often reported at commercial daycares).

PLEASE NOTE: WALKS ARE NOT INCLUDED!

I do NOT offer walks to my guest pups because they tend to tire themselves out running around the yard/house. If you would like me to walk your pet, I will send you a custom quote that includes an additional fee for EACH walk!

I have more daycare than boarding pups these days, but this fluctuates around holidays and popular events (e.g. Coachella). More often than not, daycare pups do not require me to feed them, but I’m happy to do so if needed. I feed everyone separately - not only to avoid the potential for an incident over food - but also to make sure everyone eats his/her own food.

Lots of folks have told me their dogs are allergic to chicken these days, so in general, IF I give the dogs treats (which is rare), I use Zuke’s Training snacks (3 calories a piece) in duck or rabbit flavor. I tend to avoid peanut butter, as well, as a few owners have told me a (human) member of their household has peanut allergies and would prefer the dogs not have access to it.

I provide the pack with 10s if not 100s of toys of all manner (balls, squeakers, crunchers, enrichment puzzles, etc.), as well as a number of deer antlers and water buffalo horns. NOTE: I do not have rawhide around and do my best not to have *any* food/treats around that are manufactured or prepared in China.

I also just added a doggy pool to the mix! It’s 6 feet wide by 12 inches deep (I only fill it to about 7 inches), so if you don’t want your dog to get wet...let me know in advance!

The door to the yard is open all day UNTIL I go to sleep (usually around midnight). Before I go to sleep, I let everyone out for one last potty break, then bring them inside to sleep in “my den.” If they sleep with you in bed, they’ll sleep with me in my bed; if they prefer a crate or the floor or a dog bed, then that’s where they’ll be. Sleeping “arrangements” are really sort of up to them - just like their ability to choose what they do/where they do it, during the day. They just have to give Francis & Bruce “first dibs” on their preferred sleep spots ^_^

DOG CRATES:

I have ~10 dog crates of various sizes and types (e.g. metal, plastic “pet taxi,” wicker, etc.). Occasionally a guest dog arrives with their own crate & other dogs lay it; when I notice this, I usually leave a few of my crates around, so they have their own “den” for nesting :)

MEET & GREETS:

I encourage MEET & GREETS but on *VERY* RARE occasions I can accept a guest pup without one (at my discretion). Even though I have a sizeable pack at times, I have *NEVER* had a situation where a dog(s) is/are injured. I credit this, in part, to my “screening process,” as my meet & greet standards are *VERY* specific (expect a lot of questions). Please understand that scheduling for meet & greets is a bit more nuanced than when you are officially booked, as I am entirely flexible for regular booking pickups & drop-offs.

AVAILABILITY FOR MEET & GREETS:

Generally, I can accommodate a meet & greet on Mondays (usually) and Wednesday through Friday at and after 7 PM. I *can* meet on Sat & Sun (timing on weekends is *usually* between 10-1 then again from 6-8).

Of course, you can & should opt for another sitter if the scheduling of *our* meet & greet seems inconvenient or falls too close to your stay dates for comfort. I take meet & greets very seriously & would rather conduct them to my standards, than confirm a booking without one & end up with a guest pup that isn’t a good fit!

ABOUT MY HOME:

My home is super clean and awesomely big - and my guest pups have complete run of it! I also have what is possibly the best back yard for dog boarding that I could ask for - sun, shade, benches, beds - it's definitely a dog "vacation destination!” Be advised, there are 2 small steps to the backyard (they are WIDE steps so all my older pups haven’t ever had an issue with them) AND the entire house has hardwood flooring, which some dogs may find too difficult (i.e. “slippery”) to manage comfortably!

The house itself is situated in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. I am often told the "vibe" is really "chill," and I strive to keep it that way! I have neighbors, but have *never* had a complaint of any kind - which is a testament to how well-behaved my pack really is!

BTW: I generally have space for you to park in my big, long drive-way for pickups and drop-offs - please feel free to do so. After 6 PM and ALL DAY on weekends, my street is permit only, so please remember to park in the drive or you may get a ticket!

ABOUT ME:

I've been pet sitting for about 18 years & enjoy having various "packs" around the house! Whether your pup(s) drop by my place for a play-date or an overnight, or whether you'd like me to walk & watch them at your place - I'm available practically 24/7! I am a FULL TIME sitter & send PHOTO/VIDEO updates at least once a day (and any time you may ask). Plus, I'm SUPER flexible about pickup and drop-off time!

I am female, 36 years old, and have a Master's degree & PhD in learning & behavior. I've worked with all types of animals from puzzle-solving pigeons to language trained chimps, so putting together a great little “pack” of dogs, again, has been a welcome treat!

VET TECH BACKGROUND:

I have lived & worked with animals my entire life, and have held various positions in veterinary clinics around LA. I am comfortable administering medication(s) & can even monitor animals post surgery. NOTE: Many of my guests are older/senior dogs with special needs, so I tend not to take younger puppies in the large(r) breed category (they often lack body awareness!); however, I evaluate each pup's “fit” and have made exceptions in the past!

MY HOUSEMATES:

I live with 1 other professional (1 male), who is equally pet-loving and happy to have your pet(s) join our pack! He has been briefed on my guest pups but is not personally responsible for them.

AVAILABILITY & CALENDAR:

Scheduling & completing a meet & greet does NOT mean I will be available on the dates you’ve requested! Too many times I’ve held spots for folks who fail to confirm a stay (for whatever reason: e.g., their trip is cancelled, a neighbor said they will step in, etc.) and I’m left with an open space in my calendar that could have been filled. You are only *officially* booked when you are charged for the stay & receive a confirmation from Rover! On a related note, please do NOT put all your eggs in MY basket. It’s YOUR responsibility to have a contingency plan should we not be able to complete a meet & greet or book a stay in time. In my 6 years of pet sitting with Dogvacay & Rover, this has not been an issue, as I am upfront with my booking policy (see above); but, please do what is best for you & your pups!

BRING ITEMS AT YOUR OWN RISK:

I am *not* responsible for lost or destroyed items (e.g. toys, beds, blankets, bowls, etc.) that arrive with your pup. I try my best to send guests back home with everything, but SOMETIMES a bowl or a toy gets left behind. I am happy to RETURN or REPLACE any items *I* may break (e.g. a glass bowl) but, I can't guarantee 100% that a beloved item will survive your pup's vacay! I have 100s of toys and 10s of bowls they can break & destroy with impunity - so it’s best just to bring your pup & their food and leave their other belongings at home :)

CARE FOR EXOTICS, TOO:

I can take care of other types of pets (birds, lizards, rodents, etc.), as I have personal experience with many exotic creatures. You're welcome to bring your exotics to my home (if they travel well), but unfortunately, I cannot board cats at my house! :(

My hands are always washed and every pup and leash will be wiped down again before pickup. We'll also keep the 6ft distance and always wear masks.

I work from home in digital media so I am here to look after your little ones with great care!

I specialize in small dogs and your precious pooch(es) will be staying in a CAGE FREE environment with high quality home made treats and daily playtime. Also, for either daycare or overnight boarding, any pickups after 8:30pm will incur a late pickup fee ($15). Half day of daycare is 0-5 hours and full day of daycare is 5-12 hours. Thanks for understanding!

Little Wesley's Happy Hideaway!California Heights, California Heights, Long Beach, CA

Hello!, My name is Mary Sullivan, and I live with my 12 year old rescued Westie Mix, Wesley, in our modest 1938 home in the Cal-Heights Historic District. Our house has a locked and secure front and back yard and garage, and, with pleasure, we do allow our doggie guests on the furniture. All of our doggie guests sleep safely indoors -- never outdoors, at night, with us, in our bedroom.

Wes enjoys the company of all of our doggie guests, especially rescued and adopted doggies! I work mainly from home and have a fairly flexible schedule which allows us to devote specific individual attention to each doggie guest and provide regular walkies. Wes and I have had the pleasure of providing a great deal of pet and house-sitting for various friends and family over the years, in addition to acquiring additional experience in professional pet care while co-owning a traditional bed and breakfast for dogs and cats. We are extremely detail-oriented, conscientious, responsible, and protective of everyone in our care.

Upon request, we offer special discounted rates to pairs of two small doggie guests!, and, discounts on extended stays that are one week or longer. In addition, we offer special discounts to active and retired members of the United States Armed Forces, in thanks for their service. Also, we do not charge an additional fee to walk your doggie(s), as Wes also needs to be walked, and we enjoy the extra company. Nor, do we charge a fee for administering medications, or other special needs.

Please Note: In the interest of the health of your pet, please observe that we do require that we schedule a meet-n-greet before accepting new bookings; a copy of your doggie(s) current vaccination records; that their anti-flea drops/meds are up to date; and that they are wearing their current i.d. tags (even if they are micro-chipped). In addition, we do gladly accept last minute Reservation Requests, however, we really only do so with doggie folks with whom we have already established a solid working relationship.

Thank you very much!, and please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have...

Sincerely,

Mary & Wes

Specialized in under 25 lbs 🐶Palms, Los Angeles, CA

Regarding COVID 19, we execute recommended precautions regarding social distancing and hygiene for people and pets.

WE REMAIN HEALTHY, COMMITTED TO GOOD HEALTH & OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Experienced, Mature, Reliable, Settled adults happiest at home with the pack. 🐾

We were quarantined before quarantine was cool. 😎

We are a married couple working from our apartment in Palms, therefor all dogs have human and K9 companionship continuously. We are mature adults who maintain a calm, low-energy household.

We have 2 small rescues Lilly & Leo both experienced at welcoming new members and old friends. In our experience, we realize smaller works better for us, therefore we only accept dogs up to 25 lbs.

We have had dogs in our lives all our lives. Caring for dogs makes us better people. Patience learned in loving animals makes us happy. :) We walk our pack 4x daily for plenty of exercise & potty possibilities. Pack led exercise leaves the most anxious more relaxed. And we dial back walks for any that require less activity.

We have hosted many with special needs and adjust ourselves accordingly.

Dogs are pack animals, maybe we’ve all heard that before. Walking in a pack over time brings us into harmony. The pack moves together. This is physical and mental exercise for all involved (ourselves included. Dogs are great teachers of consideration. ;) When a new guest arrives, we first go for a nice walk 1 on 1. This begins our bond and helps release angst your pup may be feeling . Then it’s into our home for introductions. Easy peasy.🤙

Our focus is to board only a few guests @ a time thereby optimizing attention to your pets needs.

YES, WE DO OFFER DAY CARE, a 12 hr time window.

YES, WE DO OFFER BOARDING (overnight stays), a 24 hr time window.

**We are not strict in drop off & pick up times, but Please Be Considerate to time frame of your pets stay. An extra hr ok, but beyond we must charge more according to time spent over the 12 & 24 hr time periods.

**IMPORTANT NOTE - as Rover specifies a medium breed as 16 - 40 lbs, we can accept only up to 25 lbs.

additional light reading if interested... :)

My wife Andrea and I moved from NYC to Palms LA in 2010. We have been walking dogs in this same neighborhood since, and we’ve been taking guests into our home for a number of years. We have seen LOTS! We live in a very dog friendly building of which the manager is a dear friend. We do not have free range outdoor spaces for dogs to roam off leash. All guests walk as a pack member on a leash at least 4 x a day.

Pack mentality, go with the flow, is what I consider pack mentality. Our flow is smooth. Our walks are peaceful and are within our immediate neighborhood. We do not visit dog parks. If anything bad were to happen with a group of unfamiliar dogs off leash, we’d be sick over it. So it’s leashed walks close to home.

We have been told on more than one occasion that guests have gone home a little easier to handle on leash. I attribute this to what I’ve observed over years, like a flock of birds or a school of fish dogs instinctively want to follow. A pack leader shows the way. I’m not a dog whisperer by any means, but I do have a natural disposition suitable for caring and leading dogs. Practicing and learning more always. Patience is a virtue. I (Tim) have taken a lesson personally from Cesar Millan (see photo album).

The elephant in the room, the Tattoo on Tim’s head. Yes, it is a tattoo. It is something unexplainable unless you believe in destiny. Firstly, it came to me in a dream. Second, upon completion of my head tattoo I met my wife. The rest is history. That was in 2007. The tattoo has challenged me to be a better man. My face is a welcome sign. You are welcome to react as you will. My peace is my understanding.

We understand being away from our loved ones. We know it helps to show all is well with photos and videos. We enjoy updating. Being creative and thoughtful while doing so inspires the artists in us.

We are grateful to have this business and that you read this far,

Thank you.

We look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your dog(s) :-)

Roxanne rocks! My boxer, Gracie, loves her visits. Gracie is a single dog, and there are always a couple of other pups for her to play with...and, she LOVES to play. I pick up a VERY happy and tired doggie at the end of her visit.

Gracie and I both love Roxanne.

Damaris is phenomenal! Our little Goldendoodle Jameson loved her. She sent so many wonderful photos while we were away (this is the first time we left him w a "stranger" for the weekend) which made us so happy. Will definitely be booking with Damaris again. Love her! And Jameson did too ;)

Mary is excellent!! She took Chance in as her own. She made sure that everything was done in a way to make any animal feel welcome. I’d highly recommend her for any stay!!
