“Theresa is a superstar!! We mistakenly gave her a key that didn’t work and she went above and beyond to get the correct key while we were out of town. Felt terrible that we had made such a big mistake but she was very reassuring that she wasn’t going to give up on our pets. She sent us a bunch of sweet pictures every day and a very detailed update that left us feeling at ease and sure that our pets were safe, cared for, and getting lots of attention. Great communication from start to finish, we felt like she took care of our little ones as well or better than friends/family!”

“If I could give 10 stars I would. This was really my first time using rover and after reading reviews I decided to book. Billie came over to meet Zeus and have me show her what I needed which I completely loved. Zeus was happy in every Pic for his drop in visits. I plan on using Billie from here on out and GREATLY appreciate her service !!”

“Maddie was excellent! She was patient when I had last minute issues, and was very accommodating. She treated my kitties like they were her own! I came home to very content and well-cared for kitties. 10/10 recommend and would hire again!”

“Kelsey was fantastic! She followed care instructions, provided photos a d updates, and our kitty seemed to really enjoy the company while we were away. Would definitely book again and highly recommend!”

About: Growing up I always had some sort of pet whether that be my bearded dragon, leopard gecko, cats, dogs, birds, all of it. I recently lost my disabled kitty but he taught me lots about medication administration, accessibility, and so many more things that are needed when working with a disabled or any kind of medical condition in pets. I now have a kitten and thankfully my childhood dog is still alive which I’m very grateful for. I’d love to spend time with your babies too! I live in Columbia because my boyfriend goes to Mizzou, but I currently am not working anywhere, so I can help you out anytime, anywhere:) I am very careful when it comes to pet safety. Like mentioned earlier my baby, Theo, is disabled as well as special needs. He takes medication and has to have certain accommodations around the apartment just for him. Making sure he is safe is a big priority as well as a big priority for your pet too!
About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats since I was younger than 10, with experience ranging from playful puppies to senior pets who need extra patience and attention. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and provide companionship for their pets. I’m comfortable with multiple breeds, different energy levels, and unique routines. My priority is keeping pets safe, happy, and loved while giving owners peace of mind. Whether it’s exercise, cuddles, or special care, I treat every pet like they’re my own. Hi, I’m Madeline! 🐾 I’m a stay-at-home mom to my sweet son, who recently started school, and I’m looking forward to filling my extra time with something I truly love: animals! I’ve always had a big heart for furry friends and believe every pet deserves patience, love, attention, and plenty of cuddles. 🐶🐱💕 As a pet parent myself, I understand how important it is to have someone you trust caring for your pets. Whether your pup needs a walk, a potty break, playtime, or just some company while you’re away, I’m happy to help! My goal is to make your pets feel safe, loved, and cared for while giving you peace of mind. 🐾💗

About: I have over 10 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, both my own and those of friends, family, and neighbors! Over the years, I’ve helped with everything from daily walks, feeding, and playtime to overnight stays and keeping pets comfortable while their owners are away. I love staying active and am always happy to take dogs on long walks or spend time playing outside. I’m just as happy spending time with cats, whether that means interactive playtime, cuddles, or letting them relax at their own pace. I’m responsible, patient, and attentive to each pet’s individual personality and needs. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your furry family members, and I’ll always treat your pets with the same love, care, and attention I’d give my own! I recently moved to Kansas City and work full-time in professional sports! While my weekdays are generally spent at work, I have availability in the evenings and on weekends for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting. My schedule can vary depending on games and events, but I’m happy to coordinate with pet owners to find a routine that works for everyone. I love spending my free time with animals and making sure they get plenty of love, attention, and care! Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities! I follow your instructions closely, maintain a clean and safe environment, and do everything I can to make your pet feel comfortable while you’re away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, extra cuddles, or simply relaxing, I’ll make sure they feel loved and cared for. I treat every pet and home with the same respect and attention I’d want for my own!
“Once again Jenna went above and beyond just looking in on our two cats. Packages and mail (we forgot to have it stopped!) were picked up; pet dishes were washed and ready to go. She let me know a smoke detector battery needed replacement and was emitting the constant beep and scaring the cats. We found a family member to come figure it out after Jenna and a neighbor had tried to fix it for us. Jenna is so dependable and a true animal lover.”

“Mya was great! She took on a last minute booking and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Jax and Ruby seemed to like her and Peach actually came out of hiding when Mya was there! I would 10/10 recommend Mya for any pet needs!!!”

About: What sets me apart is the level of care and attention I give every pet. I know that trusting someone with your furry family member is a big decision, so I treat every pet as if they were my own. I’m patient, dependable, and committed to following your pet’s routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. This is my only job at the moment so I am very flexible. Soon, though I may do some substitute teaching but that is a nice job too because it’s also very flexible. I care for every pet according to their individual routine and needs. I’ll make sure they have fresh food and water, regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and plenty of affection. I pay close attention to their behavior and comfort, and I’ll follow any specific instructions you provide, including medications, feeding schedules, or other special care.
About: As someone who has owned and trained a rescue dog with both stranger and dog reactivity for the past two years, I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to find a trustworthy, experienced pet sitter. Every dog deserves compassionate, patient care, regardless of their behavioral challenges. Through working with professional trainers and extensively studying canine behavior and reactivity, I've gained valuable experience in recognizing triggers, managing stress, building trust, and maintaining consistent training routines. I understand that building a relationship with a reactive dog takes time, patience, and respect for their boundaries. My priority is ensuring your dog feels safe, comfortable, and understood while you're away. In addition to my experience with reactive dogs, I've helped friends train their puppies, focusing on positive experiences, confidence building, and helping them navigate the world comfortably. I'm also comfortable providing basic care, including nail trims when tolerated, ear cleaning, and administering oral medications, vitamins, or supplements according to your instructions. I believe pet owners deserve to enjoy vacations, travel, or simply spend time away from home without worrying about their furry family members. I'll respect your dog's established routines, follow their existing training and management plans, and provide frequent updates, photos, and communication at no additional charge. My goal is simple: to give your dog the patience, consistency, and individualized care they deserve while giving you peace of mind knowing they're in capable, caring hands. I have a flexible work-from-home schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. I typically finish my workday in the early afternoon, giving me availability for walks, drop-in visits, playtime, and quality one-on-one care. Caring for animals is already a big part of my daily routine, so incorporating pet sitting feels like a natural fit! I understand the importance of consistency, especially for dogs with anxiety or reactivity, and I'm happy to accommodate established feeding schedules, exercise routines, and training needs. My goal is to provide dependable, personalized care while making sure your pets feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're away! Your pet's happiness and well-being are my top priorities! I'll maintain a secure environment by keeping hazards out of reach, following household rules, and respecting your pet's individual needs and triggers. I believe physical activity and mental enrichment are essential for a fulfilled pet! Our time together may include walks, interactive play, puzzle games, and plenty of downtime to recharge. I'll maintain your pet's established routines and training while providing patient, personalized care, especially for those with anxiety or reactivity. My goal is to keep your pet happy, engaged, and well cared for until your return!

“Ariana was wonderful with Holly! She was sweet, communicative, and kept me updated throughout the drop-ins. I felt comfortable knowing Holly was in good hands and would book with Ariana again.”

“Madeline was the best! I’d never used Rover before and she was the first sitter I connected with. Madeline was extremely kind and communicative. She sent us plenty of videos and wrote detailed cards for us, which we appreciated immensely. I highly recommend her and will definitely see if she’s available next time we need a pet sitter.”

“Olivia is a wonderful sitter. She sent us detailed messages with pictures each day. We booked her to stay for an hour every time and she successfully brought our shy kitty out of his shell for some cuddling. She's reliable, on time and pays attention to detail. You can't go wrong with Olivia.”

About: I love getting to know new people and their pets. I’ve had dogs for as long as I can remember and they’re a huge part of my life. I’ve worked at an animal hospital for over 6 years and have lots of experience with all kinds of pets! I work full time during the week. I’m available before and after work, and most days on lunch breaks as well. Weekends I have more flexibility. I have an adult dog who enjoys the company of other dogs and would love to go on walks with new friends if they’re a good fit together. I know that some dogs can be shy, so if we need to have a meeting first we can discuss that.

About: I have, alongside owning pets, cared for many within and outside of my family for 6 years now. I know to care for dogs, cats, big and small. I can only do it mostly on weekends or early mornings on any other day. My days off from my regular job are Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday so if you need anything on those days then I am your gal! We take care of many pets in our home. We have 4 cats, and 5 dogs, one including a standard poodle but they have plenty of room in and outside of the house so they can have fun and roam!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Randolph
Sally is amazing!! She's friendly, warm, genuine and responsible. My fur babies adored her from the moment they met her. She kept me well informed, sent pics of my babies daily, and gave them lots of love and attention while I was away. She'll be the first person I reach out to the next time I need a cat sitter. I highly recommend Sally!

Caitlyn was a wonderful pet sitter for our two cats! They were relaxed and happy to see us when we got home due to Caitlyn's work with them each day. She was very good about communication and sent us a check in with pictures and how the kitties were doing. She played with them and made sure they got plenty of treats and pets! I really appreciated it, this is the longest we had left our cats ever and having a young kitten and a geriatric cat, problems can come up and I worry. She made it all very easy and I would definitely recommend her if you need a reliable responsible pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
