“Liz was such an amazing caregiver for our high energy dog Pepper and Snakey (a not so high energy snake). I loved getting the photos and the checkins. She was responsive and super easy to connect with. I will definitely be asking her back.”

“I’m so grateful for Kaylah’s help while I was away for a few days. My dog instantly loved her. Kaylah took such great care of my pup and home. Very respectful, communicative, and helpful. I highly recommend her!”

“Aaron was a great pet and house sitter. He was super conscientious, sent regular updates and photos which were super appreciated, and tried incredibly hard. He’s a very honest and good person.”

“Taylor is amazing! Our dogs, Kanga and Dudley, absolutely adore him. He’s incredibly responsive and easy to communicate with, always keeping us updated. You can tell he genuinely cares about the pups he watches. Highly recommend Taylor to anyone looking for a sitter their dogs will love!”

“Brenna did a fantastic job taking care of our elderly dog. She stayed at our home and gave Cookie a comfortable and seamless caregiving experience while we were away. She respected our home and took very good care of her. I recommend Brenna!”
“Daniel cared for our active 16-month Australian Shepherd for 6 days. Our dog appeared happy and well cared for upon our return. Also our house was clean upon our return.”

“Would 100% recommend! Last minute booking. Received updates and pictures throughout time sitter was with my pup. Prompt and very attentive. I will definitely be a repeat customer!”
“Gunner is a very kind and conscientious pet and house sitter. He is communicative and provided updates and pictures of our cat happily interacting with him. My mind was so at ease knowing Gunner was taking care of my cat and home while we were away. I would definitely hire him again!”

“Hannah was amazing! We had her house sit our home with our two pups while we were away. She was everything you could ask for in a Rover, and more. She was extremely communicative during the whole process, and our pups, who can be rascals, were always happy when she arrived. Hannah met with us before our trip to understand what we were looking for in terms of updates, and what was needed by each pup (one older dog and one hyperactive younger dog). On top of the great service she provided, she even went above and beyond expectations when we had an issue with our keyless deadbolt. Honestly we were blown away with her dilligence to still gain access to the house to make sure our pups were taken care of. We will certainly be reaching out to Hannah if we have any future needs to care for our furry family members.”

About: I don’t have any “professional” experience but my parents have two Bernese mountain dogs and I have dog sat many times before! I enjoy hanging around animals I am currently unemployed, trying to find something new. I wanted to try dog sitting to see if this is something that I could potentially do more often! I will take the dogs on walks, feed, give treats, etc. I’m not sure if I could stay over night at some places - just depends.

About: Growing up around animals of many kinds and many temperaments— I am experienced in providing speciality care where connection to the animal is important. I am patient and loving as well as experienced in administering medicines and adhering to specific feeding schedules. I am currently working part-time and have a lot of flexibility in schedule ! Also have a working vehicle and do not mind a little drive ! I have also house sat many times over the years and always leave it more clean than when I arrived. I adore being able to keep critters company and provide loving and patient care.

“Patricia was great watching my dog Ginger for 5 days! She accepted my last minute request right away and was able to fit in a meet and greet. She provided plenty of updates and pictures of Ginger throughout the sitting. She left my place super tidy and clean. I would definitely trust her to watch any of my animals again!”

About: I have been taking care of family/friend pets through the entirety of high school and afterwards. I have worked with a positive feedback trainer with my dog and have been able to apply those teachings to other behaviors in animals. I also know how to handle medications for dogs, from pills, intestine liquids, and topical creams. I absolutely adore big dogs and will totally let them be lap dogs. I love little dogs, even if they try to be ferocious creatures. I work a part-time job and am focusing most of my free time to medical concerns. I traditionally work in the early morning, 6-12. This leaves my afternoons free for the pets, but I can figure out how to care for them in the morning if necessary. Beyond that, I want to maintain active with the animals, playing, cuddling and taking for walks. I have 3 dogs of varying sizes (8, 25, & 100). They have different diets and activity levels, but all maintain their appropriate body weight. We have a fenced backyard for them to roam around in. The big dog is an anxious creature so he gets put in the crate when everyone leaves the house. I specifically worked with him on it and he has done wonderfully with positive reinforcement. I am able to transfer this knowledge to other animals, it might just take a few tries. Access to treats might help 😋. For walks, I can handle dogs big dogs and the ones that pull pretty well. I refuse to use choke chains and shock collars. If they are wearing one, I would like (with your permission) to switch it for a regular collar during the time of my stay.
“Sage took wonderful care of our babies and home while we were away. We had such peace of mind knowing that they were cared for. We have two dogs with VERY different personalities and sage was able to give them both the attention they needed. Sage was always quick to respond and very easy to work with!”

About: Hi! My name is Brooke and I have petsitted for people for almost 20 years. I love animals of all sorts of shapes and sizes. I hope you'll consider me for watching your babies and here is why. I've administered shots and medicine and up until 2 years ago I had pets of my own. I lost my heart dog Murphy on NYE of 22 in surgery, got diagnosed with Cervical cancer myself that March, mid-April had a radical hysterectomy. A week before my birthday that year I also lost my cat to a dog or coyote attack. Murphy(dog) was 10, Velcro(cat) was 15 and my lil shadow. I lost all that is light and love that year. I cannot have kids, and I dearly miss my fur babies nothing will ever replace them but I do have a big heart. I am tired of going home to an empty house. I want someone to argue over the last bite with and whether or not cheese really is a dessert. I am ready to get another dog, but first savings!!! I've always had savings for myself and my animals because life can go sideways. So that's why I'm here! I'm currently working two part time jobs to help pay the bills and what I get here will go straight to savings so I am properly prepared to get a pup of my own. I would love nothing more to love on your animals while I prepare for my own. And possible into the future as well. I am currently only available for overnight petsitting at your home I am working 2 part time jobs and gone for about 8 hrs a day for said jobs except maybe one day a week. Your animal is my main priority! I chill with them and follow th parameters paid out for me. And hang with them for the agreed upon timeframes

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pleasant Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pleasant Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pleasant Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
