“We had to book last minute since for the 4th of July holiday weekend and Shatonia was so accommodating and understanding. She was very professional and responsive when I would check in and she was very understanding when traffic made us later than anticipated for pickup. Our pup seemed to have a good time and we definitely recommend booking with Shatonia!”

“Crissy is an amazing help. She took great care of our dog and gave timely updates. Truly a pleasure to be able to use her services. I have no reservations about using her again in the future.”

“My 4 pound malti-poo stayed with Dorothy for 2 nights. I felt very comfortable leaving him in her care. She sent pictures and was very calm and loving towards him. I highly recommend!”

“Aida was a great sitter for my pup. She was very communicative with me and very attentive towards him. I was able to have peace of mind while on vacation as I was updated with pics and activities throughout each day I was gone. I highly recommend Aida for any of your dog sitting needs.”

“Whitney and her family were absolutely amazing! Her fenced in yard provided plenty of space for the dogs to play. My dog, Finn, received so much love and snuggles! Finn will definitely be back. Thank you, Whitney!”

“I am very glad my dog stayed with Felice and her family during this past week. Maple had a great time while I was away; more importantly, she was safe and well taken care. And, I received enough photos of Maple, so my heart was in peace during my vacation (first time my family was separated from our dog in while). I will use Felice and Ken's service again and recommend to others as well.”

“My lhasa apso is very attached to us and shows high anxiety when a family member is not around, even to the point of vomiting when my daughter went away on a trip in June. I was very nervous about leaving him during our family vacation, but Sarah and her family went above and beyond to make sure that Oliver was comfortable. He received lots of belly rubs and attention, went on nice walks and trips to the dog park, and became BFF's with Jack, their beagle. Sarah sent numerous pictures at least twice a day, and my favorites were of Oliver and Jack snuggling together. Seeing this pictures greatly helped my own anxiety at being so far away from my fur baby. Sarah also gave updates. Her family just really seemed to understand dogs. She was not upset when Oliver had "marked a piece of furniture" but was totally cool about it; similarly, when I warned her that Oliver is prone to throwing up when away from his family, her response was, "we have hardwood floors so it's easy to clean up." Oliver had a wonderful experience with Sarah, Jack, and the rest of the family, and I recommend her for anyone and especially those with anxious pups.”

“Took great care of my older dog. And my older dog has issues with food and people but regardless of those issues she still took great care of her and gave good updates.”

“We had a great experience with Julia & Jacob. They took such s wonderful care of our dog while we were away. It gave us so much peace of mind to receive regular updates, pictures, and videos — it was clear our dog was happy, safe, and well-loved. Communication was easy, and everything went smoothly. They truly went above and beyond by picking up and dropping off our dog, which made everything so much easier for us. Highly recommend and would absolutely book again!”

“Alex was very responsive and the dogs seemed to love staying at his house, running in the yard, and playing with Alex's dog Reese. He also sent a lot of pics which was really appreciated! Alex--thanks again for taking care of the twins!”

“Thank you so much for taking such phenomenal care of Snoopy! You completely put our minds at ease from the start. The daily photo updates were great and put our minds at ease. It was clear that he was in good hands. Snoopy came home happy and relaxed and we will definitely be booking again!”

“This family treats our pet like she literally is one of their family. They are so natural with her and everyone is so loving to our Dog. We have complete peace of mind sending our pet to Jill And Chad. 1000% recommend”

“Pamela was very responsive and kept me updated throughout JuJu’s stay. She has a large, fenced in yard that provided plenty of space for play and exercise. It was clear that JuJu was well cared for, and I appreciated the regular communication and peace of mind. I would definitely recommend Pamela and wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

“Brittanie and Ryan ensured that both Bodhi and I felt comfortable with boarding him at their home when I dropped him off. They were attentive to him and sent me pictures and communication throughout the stay, which helped put me at ease. They even contacted me before I dropped him off so I would pack extra food in case of a potential snow storm. I’m thrilled that they were our first experience using Rover, and I will recommend them to any friends needing dog care in the future.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
