“Elizabeth was an amazing dog sitter. She watched our newly adopted dog Donkey for 3 nights when we had to travel unexpectedly for a funeral. She gave Donkey exceptional care. She kept us updated multiple times a day with pictures and really left us at ease especially during an already stressful time. I would highly recommend Elizabeth!!”

“Vicky LOVESSSSSSS this whole family. They’re literally the best doggy care takers I’ve ever worked with. I change my plans to make sure I leave my puppy only with them. Their kids are so mature and loving! A true dream for dogs”

“Excellent service! The sitter would send me videos every morning showing that he was walking my dog. My dog is also had some issues with his ears so he helped administer medication to him & brushed his teeth daily. very kind, personable & energetic sitter. Don’t hesitate to book him!”

“This was my first time using Roover and I can say Jessica surpassed my expectations for a sitter. I was hesitant to leave our puppy with just anyone, but after meeting Jessica I knew he was in good hands. I look forward to using her in the future.”
“Brittanie and Ryan were wonderful sitters for our dog this weekend! She seemed to have gotten very comfortable in their home pretty quickly and had no issue coexisting with their dogs at all. They sent frequent update pictures and really went above and beyond bringing our dog to our wedding so she could be included in our pictures. Overall great first Rover experience and would happily use them again!”

“Kyra took great care of our baby and his joint needs. She took lots of pictures and gave him his meds. We loved the updates! We will definitely use her again!!”

“Meagan, Chris, and pups, Butter, and Lucy took great care of Ozzie. Ozzie does not always warm up to strangers immediately but felt at home with them burrowing under their blankets and sleeping in their pup beds. They provided daily report of Ozzie antics and photos keeping me posted. Meagan really loved Ozzie and animals in general, and adjust to them easily. It was evident Ozzie enjoyed his staycation. We will definitely board Ozzie at their place in the future.”

“If I could pack them up and move them with me to new house I would. Jenn and her husband were great very flexible were happy to add two more days of care when our plans changed. Jenn sent pictures everyday with updates. Tahoe was also clean and brushed when I picked him up and a happy pup.if I was still in area would definately use again”

“Patrick and Bee are just the BEST out there! I leave my two pups with them with complete trust that they aren’t “just with a sitter,” but being genuinely loved and cared for. The dogs get outside, play, get family time, and are spoiled in their care just like they are at home. Highly recommend!”

“Foxy had a great stay and I am so grateful for the care he received during this longer stay. Ken, Tyler, and family gave him needed boundaries and socialization--I hope he can stay with them again to keep growing into the less anxious soul he can be :). I looked forward to receiving photos every day and knew Foxy was in excellent hands. THANK YOU!”

“Im always nervous to drop off Adonis with anyone because he is very unpredictable meaning nervous. But Lia was great to him. Leaving for my daughter nationals so many miles away and she was great! Definitely will book again.”

“Fantastic!! Shannon watched my one year old very anxious puppy, Luna. I was very nervous Luna wouldn’t settle, but Shannon took the time to allow Luna to open up to her. Within 30 minutes of dropping Luna off I had picture updates and text updates! She continued with many pictures and messages to keep me in the loop of how Lunas day was going. Shannon was so sweet and kind, relieving any nerves I had. She was able to work with my nervous pup and keep her happy! I was so grateful for Shannon’s patience and expert care. She also administered eye drops to my pup who has some eye problems. I felt completely at easy knowing Shannon was diligently watching over my pup. I plan to use Shannon again and again anytime I’m out of time!”

“Latte had a great time with Katarzyna! She came back just as herself — happy, eating, not overly tired. All signs that she was comfortable, and we appreciated the timely communication and regular updates.”

“Fatty had the absolute best time staying with her family. He was showered with affection, got tons of cuddles, and even got treated to pup cups. He loved them so much and we are so happy he has an open invitation to return anytime. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will love their dog like family!”

“Anna & Christian were great! They were very accommodating to Nahla. They did a meet and greet to make sure she would be comfortable during her stay. They were very communicative and sent updates and pics. They made sure Nahla was comfortable despite her having allergy flare ups. They had no problem giving her medication. I appreciate the care they provided. I would definitely recommend.”
“Our dog loved staying with Rich, took to him immediately and showed no anxiety of being left. He is a Covid dog and very attached us. Rich sent photos. His fenced yard is great for our dog, we will be return customers.”

“Kimberly is the best, she took such great care of my Neco. She cared for him for 6 days through the Thanksgiving Holiday. She sent me great pictures and videos of him daily. She is a true dog lover. I will definitely be booking her again to care for my dog.”

“Jennifer, her daughter, and her mother were awesome. The place I kept my little dog, Gumbo, Best Friends Forever, made a mistake and I was later told that the person working when I initially called, had not reserved his spot there, although I was told Gumbo’s place was held. I was very worried as it was our first Christmas vacation after the passings of my mom (who lived with me) and my children’s “Papu” who died just two years ago. Needed my dog to be safe wherever I kept him as he is our beloved family member. Someone mentioned the Rover app and I found Jennifer. I was worried as there were other dogs at her home, however she and het family kept Gumbo safe and happy during our trip! They sent photos and videos. Jennifer made me feel comfortable with Gumbo’s care and gained my trust:-). Gumbo has found a new boarding home when needed!:-).”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
