“Marissa is extremely caring and flexible and treats the dogs she watches like family! I consider her house to be a second home for my dog. Unlike a kennel I always know Marissa will be there to snuggle and play with the dogs and the dogs will get tons of time to play together.”

“Ruth and family made us worry that our two dogs wouldn't want to leave their vacation. Walks, children, room to play indoors and out, late nights, and lots and lots of affection. We will definitely leave them here again!”

“Jeanne is such a wonderful sitter! We left our dog Jimi with her and her husband over a long weekend. She accepted our request with short notice and suggested a meet and greet, which we prefer as well. Jeanne has a lovely home and fenced in backyard. She sent regular updates and responded promptly to any questions I had. We are sure that our pup Jimi had a blast! We will definitely be reaching out to Jeanne in the future.”

“Nautica was great! This was the first time boarding my puppy. Nautica scheduled a meet and greet before I left her. And, she was so accommodating - my schedule changed as my flight was delayed. I will book with her again.”

“Aida was a wonderful sitter and my dog had a great time with her! He enjoyed time spent in her large yard, many walks, and an overall comfortable stay. She shared frequent updates and pictures, and was happy to adapt to my dog’s routine and quirks. I felt so comfortable and was able to enjoy my trip, knowing my dog was in fabulous care.”

“Carla was experienced and caring. My dog seemed to be comfortable in her home. She did a great job ensuring that he received his medication. I would use her again.”

About: I'm not just a dog sitter - I'm a caring partner who treats every pet like family. With a background in teaching, I bring patience, reliability, and attention to detail to ensure pets and owners feel safe, loved, and cared for. I grew up surrounded by dogs and understand the joy and responsibility that comes with caring for them. As a single mom who shares custody of my children, I've built a home full of love, responsibility, and routine. My kids adore being around other dogs - it's a joy that also teaches them discipline, empathy, and how to appreciate different temperaments of animals. Our own golden retriever, Rory, who quite literally fell into our laps at 6 months old, has become part of the family and thrives on the companionship of other pups. Welcoming your dog into our home means they'll not only receive attentive, reliable care from me, but also enjoy a safe, playful, and loving environment with both two-and four-legged friends. Rory is up to date on all vaccines and medications and spayed. On the weekends, pet care is just part of our normal routine. My kids and I love being outside, going for walks, and playing in the yard, and enjoying the trail that is right in our backyard. Our dog, Rory is always excited to have a buddy to hang out with, whether it's running around or just lounging together. When my kids are with their dad, I have extra time to give dogs even more one-on-one love and care. No matter what the weekend looks like, dogs are included in our activities and treated like family. My priority is always your pet's safety as well as my own. Respecting your routines and creating a familiar environment where pets feel safe and cared for is important. Building trust with both owners and dogs is at the heart of what I do so you can feel confident knowing your pup is in loving, responsible hands.
“Lauren was really great. She took care of our dog for 4 days, and we felt supper comfortable leaving her with Lauren. She was very responsive and super accommodating. We will definitely ask for her to watch our pup again.”

About: My childhood dog Magnum lived to age 20, so I feel that I can confidently say that I can shower your dog with love and care so they can live a long and healthy life! I work full-time but I am typically home from work by 4 on Wed-Fri and every other Monday. I am very active and love to get some steps in. I work in a hospital, so every day I am trusted with the lives of loved ones, and that pushes me to take my job very seriously. I don't have a pet at the moment, but I miss spending time with my dog and would love to care for yours!
About: I have taken care of my own dogs and cats my entire life and cannot remember a time I didn't love them all. My cat is no longer with me but I still have dogs and would love to care for your pets as I currently do my own. I can handle big dogs and little dogs as well as am willing to clean out your cats litterboxes. I'm happy to tussle with big dogs and take naps with lap dogs anytime! I'm a college student looking for work over the breaks and any pet time over the semester as I'll be away from my own. I'm happy to work around my class schedule to be with your pets as much as possible. I have a mostly fenced yard with the only opening being the driveway but intend to do walks and keep pets leashed just for safety. My own home has two dogs that are great with other dogs, both of them being on the smaller side and great with people as well. When I'm up at school there will be no other pets up there and the space will be fully for your pets. I'm also able to do house sitting, walks, and drop-ins for your pets to make sure your pets are getting love and attention when you're away.
“Makhayla has been caring for my pup, Boots, since he was a puppy and now I’ve adopted his sister and she cares for her too. She is reliable and always keeps me informed and sends pictures often to let me see how my little fur babies are doing.”

“Connor was great with our dog when he had her for a weekend. He took her on walks and sent pictures. Great location and he took her walking on the NCR Trail. When we picked up our dog, she was clearly comfortable in her temporary home. Recommended!”

“I thought no one could love my dog as much as I do, until we met Lisa. She kept Oliver for a week while we were on vacation. Before we left, we met up, and she had many questions - about his food, his habits, commands he knows, is he crate-trained, etc. etc. I was very impressed! She took the time beforehand to make sure she knew everything she needed, like a pro. During our vacation, she sent pictures and kept us informed of how he was doing. She made us feel very comfortable that Oliver was in great hands. This was my first Rover.com experience and I can't recommend Lisa or Rover any higher!”

“I really want to thank Janelle, Joanna and Gwendolyn for the excellent love they gave my Broc and Remi. You could feel from the first meeting your fur babies would be in good hands. They asked very good questions about your pets, so that they could render the best care. I received updates, pictures and videos showing the fun Broc and Remi was having. I could tell Broc and Remi were having lots of fun playing with their dog Zoe. If I ever need a sitter again, I'll definitely reach out to them and hope they're available. Thank you Ladies again and thank you Rover for your service.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
