“Alexis is a superstar and our kitties feel so comfortable and safe with her. At this point she’s become their favorite Auntie!! Thank you Alexis for always going the extra mile for our babies - we know every time we go on a trip, we have peace of mind that she will take the best care of them and that’s something money can’t buy.”

“Amy was incredibly sweet and took great care of my cat. My cat ran right up to Amy when they first met and immediately loved her. She followed all the instructions perfectly!”

“Five paws from my two picky little critics! 🐾 They were loved, spoiled, and so well taken care of while I was away. The updates and photos were the perfect touch, and I came home to happy cats and a stress free house. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Highly recommend!”

“Gabriella is a loving person that went above and beyond for my two doggies. Super attentive with my dog’s medicine and routine. 10/10 will definitely rebook on future stays.”

“Dan was awesome - he was able to handle two strong, energetic dogs. Set up was quick and easy and he diligently followed up with pictures and walking routes. Thanks Dan!”

“Mariah was great at sending multiple photos and videos of my cat each visit calming my nerves of my first time leaving her alone! She even brought in some packages for me which was greatly appreciated so they weren’t sitting outside my door.”

“Jarrah took great care of my dear Pinky! Jarrah was punctual for her visits and Pinky warmed up to her during their time together. I would highly recommend Jarrah to anyone seeking quality pet sitting. EM”

“Absolutely stellar experience with Mary! She was incredibly communicative throughout the entire process and truly great with our dog, Honey Bear. From the moment they met, it was clear that Honey Bear felt comfortable and happy in her care. Mary was also very flexible and kind, especially when our plans unexpectedly changed — she handled everything with grace and understanding. It’s such a relief to know our pup was in such good hands. Would definitely recommend Mary to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!”

About: I’ve lived with a dog for 6 years of my life and have loved every moment of it. I am agile and energetic, and can keep up with even the most playful of dogs. I love going on walks on my own time whenever I can, so adding your dog to my little routine will do nothing but good for all of us. I’m currently on a break between high school and college, so pet time can be scheduled at almost any time of the day, any day of the week. Very few things will get in the way, and if they do, they will be indicated on my schedule. My schedule fills up sporadically, but most of it can be reserved for pets. I am very respectful of any home I enter, and will make sure to leave your space better than I found it. I will keep my eyes on your pet throughout the duration of my time with them, and will make sure that they are safe the entire time.
“Karen is amazing! I felt 100% comfortable and happy knowing Chowder was taken care of. Karen was on time and communicated the entire time before and during the visit. Thank you, Karen!”

“Katie was amazing! I have an elderly dog and a cat who requires a lot of petting and Katie took amazing care of them. She sent daily care report cards and lots of photos which made me anxiety free for them on my trip. She even watered my tomato plants and took out the cat liter trash when she left. HIGHLY recommend her”

“Oceana helped me last minute on a holiday weekend, was proactive, communicative, and her attention to detail is outstanding. I had forgotten to put my cats water bowl back out and she clocked it immediately and ensured my pet had everything she needed. I am so thankful to have found Oceana.”

“Rand was a 5-star sitter for my dog, Buster 🖤 his check-ins and communication were thorough and detailed, which provided extra comfort for me. Rand went above and beyond and he was a pleasure to work with. I will certainly be keeping him at the top of my list for rebooking in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Washington
Mariah is a great pet sitter for our cat! I appreciate how she keeps us updated and sends lots of pics and videos. I also trust her judgement, for example she gave Lyla extra food when her bowl was empty and in the past she has cleaned the water fountain because it looked dirty

Morgan took away any anxiety I had as the dad of an old dog with her effort and her care for Chuy. She came over to meet him several days prior to the booking so Chuy was aware that she was welcome in the house and his space. I highly recommend Morgan for any needs you and your pets have!

I had a great experience with Jonathan taking care of my dogs (retriever mixes) while I was out of town. He made sure the dogs were fed and taken for walks, and I really appreciated knowing they were in good hands while I was away. I’m grateful for the care and attention Jonathan gave my dogs and would happily recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Porche was such a wonderful sitter for our three kitties! She was very communicative. She would send pictures and updates throughout her visits. I was actually able to relax knowing the kitties were in good hands. We have one kitty that usually hides, but he was hanging out with her and even showed her his belly!! We already rebooked Porche for another visit 🩷

Our animals love Kayli and so do we! She’s incredibly reliable, always sends pictures of our babies, and makes sure they’re taken care of exactly how we ask! We use her for drop in visits when we’re out of town and feel so safe with trusting our home and pets with her :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
