“This was our first time working with Jonathan as our pet/house sitter and it was a great experience. We were grateful that he was willing to stop by a second time before our trip so we could have the peace of mind that our dog would recognize him and be comfortable. He also sent us updates and pics every couple days and the house was just as clean as we left it. Couldn’t ask for more!”

“Jamie was absolutely fantastic! Not only did my Baby Girl take to her right away - you can tell she is a huge dog lover. She is kind and respectful and sent me some pupdates as well. Both myself and my pup are looking forward to seeing her again and I would highly recommend her to family and friends alike. 5 stars all the way!”

“This is the second time Victoria has watched our dogs, and they love her! We are so thankful to have found her so we can go away and not have to worry about the dogs. She’s the best!”

“Molly is simply amazing! She cared for our fur babies and home just like we do! It was so nice to know that she was there, so we didn't worry and completely enjoyed our time away. We found the best when we found Molly!!!”

“Seth was very attentive and communicated daily about the dogs with photos. He even applied ear antibiotics and cleaned Izzy's ears daily, as she got an ear infection just prior to him dog/house sitting.”

About: I have been part of the Dogs Inc (formerly Southeastern Guide Dog) organization for 8 years. I have raised 3 puppies and currently hold to hold the title of Puppy Education and Assessment Specialist. I am a canine professional and pet enthusiast In my off time I would love to spend even more time with dogs of all shapes and sizes. After hours walks and weekend care are my forte With extensive knowledge and training with a highly accredited guide and service dog school I follow a fear free and positive reinforcement style approach with all animals

About: I am a dedicated and dependable pet care provider with over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for animals independently. I have grown up around pets my entire life and have cared for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, rats, fish, and turtles. This diverse background has given me strong instincts, adaptability, and a deep understanding of individual animal needs. I currently own a cat who is a cherished companion, and caring for her has reinforced my commitment to providing patient, attentive, and high-quality care. I treat every pet as if they were my own and understand how important trust and communication are when caring for someone else’s beloved animals. My goal is to ensure that every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved, whether through daily care, companionship, feeding, or maintaining routines. I take pride in being reliable, gentle, and attentive, and I am passionate about helping pet owners feel confident and at ease while they are away. I work as a server, so my schedule can vary from week to week; however, I typically work evening shifts from around 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This makes me most available for pet care during morning and early afternoon hours (approximately 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM), which works well for daily visits, walks, and check-ins. I am happy to accommodate overnight pet sitting, and I always communicate my work schedule in advance to ensure it aligns with both the pet’s routine and the owner’s expectations. Clear communication is a priority for me, and I strive to make sure every pet receives consistent, reliable care while their owner is away. I understand that every pet and owner has unique needs, routines, and expectations. I am committed to working closely with pet parents to ensure all care requirements are met, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and daily routines. Whether a pet thrives on a structured schedule or prefers a more flexible, relaxed routine, I am happy to accommodate what works best for both the pet and the owner. My goal is always to provide consistent, attentive care while making the experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible for everyone involved.
About: I’m a lifelong pet owner and genuinely love spending time with dogs — playing, exploring, and getting them out for enrichment, not just a quick walk around the block. My own dog and I are regulars at sniff spots and the beach, and I know how much a good sniffy walk can do for a dog’s mood and energy. I have specific experience with reactive dogs, so I’m comfortable reading body language, managing triggers, and keeping walks calm and controlled. At home I’ve got two cats, and between my own pets and my 5 granddogs (a few of whom have physical disabilities), I’ve had a lot of practice adapting care to each animal’s individual needs. You’ll get a reliable, on-time sitter/walker who treats your dog like part of the pack, with photo and text updates along the way. A few highlights: • Experienced with reactive dogs — calm, attentive handling • Loves active outings: sniff spots, beach walks, play sessions • Comfortable with dogs who have physical disabilities or special needs Flexible, fully open schedule — available weekdays, evenings, and weekends for walks, drop-ins, or house sitting. I can accommodate last-minute requests and recurring bookings alike. Careful, security-conscious sitter. I’m always attentive to leashes, gates, and doors, keeping every pet secure and safe. I will treat them like my own.
“Usually I travel with my German Shepard and Doxie but this past Christmas break I knew I wanted to travel without them but I was skeptical about leaving them with anyone else. I reached out to many people on Rover but after meeting Danielle I felt comfortable making the decision to having her stay at our home to house sit and watch both dogs. Needless to say, she did not disappoint. I received many updates and pics that let me actually enjoy my vacation instead of worrying or feeling guilty. I would highly recommend Danielle!”

About: I've taken care of my childhood dog until her passing as well as many dogs, small-medium, and cats for the past few years. I just moved to this area and walking around different towns has become a big hobby of mine! I work in downtown Sarasota and I’m able to run out here and there for drop ins, I usually spend my lunch break taking a walk through town and I’m free on weekends! I’m big on phone-less walks except for pictures, with all the wildlife around and the heat in Florida I really like to be focused on my pet and check on their behavior and what catches their eye during walks

“Cassidy was a thoughtful and prepared sitter. She provided an update about our pup every morning and was quick to change plan to adjust to our pup’s needs. She utilized the resources we had at the house to ensure our pup was getting enough stimulation outside of walks. Cassidy was thoughtful in ensuring both household and pet needs were met while we were away. We would love to have Cassidy back.”

“Words cannot explain how grateful I am for finding Sumintra. I had never used this app before but she made it exceed my expectations. She was very caring with my babies, she was always communicating everything to me and sending pictures and videos. It made me feel so peaceful and calm. I recommend Sumintra 100%. Eternally grateful.”

“Abby is sweet, thoughtful & easy going. My babygirl loves her and was able to relax and sleep a bit. I felt confident in her which isn’t easy for me when trusting someone to watch my baby! Thank you Abby 🫶🏼”

“Karen was fantastic. She responded immediately and came the same day to take care of Blixtra, which was a lifesaver. Calm, reliable, and clearly great with dogs—I felt comfortable right away leaving Blixtra in her care. Would absolutely book again.”

“Rabekah was fabulous. Responded quickly and professionally to all communications, very sweet with our dogs, and went above and beyond in so many ways. We have one difficult dog that she won over quickly, and was patient with any additional needs. Will definitely book again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Sarasota
Kelli is a sweetheart! She took such great care of my pups while I was gone. One who has been recently diagnosed with diabetes, didn’t slow her down a bit. She worked with the vet and adjusted medication dosages as needed. Very much competent to handle complicated health issues. Love her! And you will too! Great job Kelli!

We had an amazing experience with our Cyndee! She stepped in on short notice to care for our two girls for over a week, and we couldn’t be more grateful. She sent regular photo updates that gave us so much peace of mind while we were away, and it was clear our dogs were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. When we returned home, the house was spotless—everything was exactly as we left it. She went above and beyond, and we truly appreciated the care, communication, and professionalism she showed throughout our trip. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable, and caring pet sitter, and we would happily book with her again!

I had Kyle watch my three cats and puppy while I was away on vacation. He did an amazing job and managed all the animals well. He kept me updated with photos and made sure my puppy got outside and active while i was gone. When I came back home everything was clean and the animals were happy. I would recommend Kyle to house sit and pet sit!

Cassie cared for our dog Cooper at our home while we attended our son’s wedding. She kept in constant communication and sent many photos. We were so happy to see Cooper relax and even cuddle with her. Knowing she stayed with him put us completely at ease. We highly recommend Cassie and will definitely contact her again for future travel.

There isn’t enough room to express how amazing Nicole is! She went above and beyond to make sure this dog mama felt secure with leaving her animals! Pictures every day along with amazing communication. She even left holiday cards with pictures of our babies. Nicole is the only person I want to watch my “kids” from here out. My only concern is my animals might start to love her more than my husband and I.

My wife and I would highly recommend Ashlee. Sophie, our cocker spaniel, seem to be in great health and appeared to enjoy being around Ashley. She was prompt and sent photos of Sophie to us every day. Additionally, before we got home, she had washed her bed linens and they were fresh and clean in our dryer. The house was spotless when we got back as well. Once again, we would highly recommend her and plan on using her again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Sarasota walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Sarasota maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Sarasota choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
