“Rabekah was fabulous. Responded quickly and professionally to all communications, very sweet with our dogs, and went above and beyond in so many ways. We have one difficult dog that she won over quickly, and was patient with any additional needs. Will definitely book again.”

About: Experienced local pet sitter. I look after two high energy German Shepard dogs regularly and used to have a Yorkie so I know skills to help look after your fur baby! My current schedule availability is fairly flexible if scheduled in advance. I am available Monday- Thursday from 10am-7pm. If you urgently need help outside of these times please reach out and I will try my best to help you out! I will treat your pets with tons of love, playtime & affection as I know it can be a stressful experience to have their owner away!
About: I’m a lifelong pet owner and genuinely love spending time with dogs — playing, exploring, and getting them out for enrichment, not just a quick walk around the block. My own dog and I are regulars at sniff spots and the beach, and I know how much a good sniffy walk can do for a dog’s mood and energy. I have specific experience with reactive dogs, so I’m comfortable reading body language, managing triggers, and keeping walks calm and controlled. At home I’ve got two cats, and between my own pets and my 5 granddogs (a few of whom have physical disabilities), I’ve had a lot of practice adapting care to each animal’s individual needs. You’ll get a reliable, on-time sitter/walker who treats your dog like part of the pack, with photo and text updates along the way. A few highlights: • Experienced with reactive dogs — calm, attentive handling • Loves active outings: sniff spots, beach walks, play sessions • Comfortable with dogs who have physical disabilities or special needs Flexible, fully open schedule — available weekdays, evenings, and weekends for walks, drop-ins, or house sitting. I can accommodate last-minute requests and recurring bookings alike. Careful, security-conscious sitter. I’m always attentive to leashes, gates, and doors, keeping every pet secure and safe. I will treat them like my own.
“Victoria did a wonderful job. We called her last minute for an overnight get away NYE. We did a meet and greet and Bailee took to her immediately. He is a service dog to me and we were skeptical knowing this would be the first time leaving him. She sent us pictures, was very personable and affectionate to Bailee. I would definitely recommend Victoria for your pet sitting needs. I know if we ever need someone, she will be the first one we call. Thank you again Victoria for treating Bailee like your own!!”

“Jonathan was wonderful, my 16-year-old dog loved him instantly. My dog was not at all out of sorts after a long weekend which means meds were given on time, he had plenty of walks (probably more than normal), and he wasn't left alone for too long. Jonathan communicated appropriately throughout his stay and my home was left very neat and tidy. I'm extremely thankful for his kind care of my old, curmudgeonly dog.”

“Karen was fantastic. She responded immediately and came the same day to take care of Blixtra, which was a lifesaver. Calm, reliable, and clearly great with dogs—I felt comfortable right away leaving Blixtra in her care. Would absolutely book again.”

“This is the Star's second stay with Douglas. As with the first, I came home to a very happy dog! I was especially pleased how she navigated his recent finickiness about eating. I look forward to hearing her observations--she's a great "second set of eyes" to help me better understand my dog. We look forward to her next visit.”

“Molly is simply amazing! She cared for our fur babies and home just like we do! It was so nice to know that she was there, so we didn't worry and completely enjoyed our time away. We found the best when we found Molly!!!”

“Libah was amazing! During our meet and greet, she asked questions and took notes to make sure Trix was given the best care. She made sure to use Trix’s routine to ensure her happiness. Libah was great with communication while I was gone. I never had to worry about what was happening at home.”

About: I've taken care of my childhood dog until her passing as well as many dogs, small-medium, and cats for the past few years. I just moved to this area and walking around different towns has become a big hobby of mine! I work in downtown Sarasota and I’m able to run out here and there for drop ins, I usually spend my lunch break taking a walk through town and I’m free on weekends! I’m big on phone-less walks except for pictures, with all the wildlife around and the heat in Florida I really like to be focused on my pet and check on their behavior and what catches their eye during walks
“Daelia was extremely friendly and accommodating as it was a last minute booking. She spent a great deal of time with Liberty and we couldn’t have been happier! Would highly recommend and we will use her again!”

“Usually I travel with my German Shepard and Doxie but this past Christmas break I knew I wanted to travel without them but I was skeptical about leaving them with anyone else. I reached out to many people on Rover but after meeting Danielle I felt comfortable making the decision to having her stay at our home to house sit and watch both dogs. Needless to say, she did not disappoint. I received many updates and pics that let me actually enjoy my vacation instead of worrying or feeling guilty. I would highly recommend Danielle!”

“Tracy was wonderful with our dog and cat. Our dog is blind and anxious and she administered all his medications and helped him feel at ease. She took wonderful care of our home and even left it cleaner than when we left!”

“Nicole was a fantastic find. We rescued Ellie Mae 3 weeks ago, but had a planned family vacation and no one to leave her with. We decided it would be best for Ellie Mae to leave her in the home she was becoming accustomed to and have someone stay here. We had a meet and greet with Nicole and were immediately impressed with her. She sent texts with pictures and stayed in touch the entire time we were gone. Just a few of the things she did that we didn’t ask for or expect was clean the house, run the dishwasher, wash towels and water the plants. We could not be more pleased with her and highly recommend Nicole.”
“Words cannot explain how grateful I am for finding Sumintra. I had never used this app before but she made it exceed my expectations. She was very caring with my babies, she was always communicating everything to me and sending pictures and videos. It made me feel so peaceful and calm. I recommend Sumintra 100%. Eternally grateful.”

“Stefania, was great. She provided us with many pictures and daily communications. Our furbabies were well cared for, she took the dogs outside several times a day, which is something they definitely love. Our house was well cared for.”

“Seth is fabulous! He took great care of our animals and showed compassion for each of them. He communicated well each day we were gone which gave us peace of mind. He also took the dogs for walks which they enjoy immensely. I recommend Seth highly!”

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Laura to care for Ralphie and Rue while we were away. Leaving our dogs with someone is never something we take lightly, but from the moment we met Laura, we felt completely comfortable knowing they were in good hands. Laura was wonderful about keeping Ralphie and Rue on their normal routine, making sure they got the attention, care, and companionship they were accustomed to. She took the time to understand their individual personalities and needs, and it was obvious that she genuinely enjoyed spending time with them. Knowing they were happy, comfortable, and well loved while we were away gave us such peace of mind. Laura also took exceptional care of our home. She was thoughtful, respectful, and conscientious about everything, and we came home to find our house in perfect condition. It was such a wonderful feeling to walk through the door and know that everything had been cared for so well. Most importantly, we came home to two happy, content dogs — and that really says it all! We are so grateful to Laura for taking such wonderful care of Ralphie and Rue and for giving us the peace of mind to truly enjoy our time away. Laura is warm, responsible, trustworthy, and genuinely caring. We wouldn’t hesitate to have her stay with Ralphie and Rue again, and we are already looking forward to the next time we can have her care for them. We highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for someone they can trust wholeheartedly with their pets and their home!

Nichole did a wonderful job taking care of and keeping Gabrielle company while we were away for 2 weeks. She sent frequent updates with pictures and short videos which was great. We had a great first impression of Nichole during the meet and great and did not worry while we were away. Nichole also took great care of the house and had even washed towels and a blanket. We hope that Nichole will be available the next time we need help!

We had a wonderful experience with Sabrina! She took such great care of our dogs and kept us updated with plenty of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear our pups were happy, comfortable, and well-loved the entire time. Sabrina was reliable, communicative, and treated our dogs like family. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and will definitely book with her again. Highly recommend!
I had Kyle watch my three cats and puppy while I was away on vacation. He did an amazing job and managed all the animals well. He kept me updated with photos and made sure my puppy got outside and active while i was gone. When I came back home everything was clean and the animals were happy. I would recommend Kyle to house sit and pet sit!

Cassie cared for our dog Cooper at our home while we attended our son’s wedding. She kept in constant communication and sent many photos. We were so happy to see Cooper relax and even cuddle with her. Knowing she stayed with him put us completely at ease. We highly recommend Cassie and will definitely contact her again for future travel.

The moment Mary walked into the yard both of my dogs sat at her feet in total comfort ( they can be picky). She is a total delight to get to know and to work with and to take care of your fur babies. She’s very responsible, communicative, conscientious. I will ask her to pet sit again and again. I highly recommend Mary as a dependable pet sitter.
There isn’t enough room to express how amazing Nicole is! She went above and beyond to make sure this dog mama felt secure with leaving her animals! Pictures every day along with amazing communication. She even left holiday cards with pictures of our babies. Nicole is the only person I want to watch my “kids” from here out. My only concern is my animals might start to love her more than my husband and I.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sarasota on Rover is $54.55 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 1,818 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sarasota. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sarasota walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sarasota maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sarasota choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sarasota. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
