“Dylan was amazing handling my three (2 dogs and a cat) for six days. Great communication, courteous of my home, fully capable with meds, followed instructions, couldn’t be happier with his service, I trust him fully and will be utilizing him in the future. It was so relieving to see my babies super excited and happy when I came home.”

“Rebecca is fantastic. She has been excellent to my italian greyhounds and my house is immaculate when she leaves. Very dependable!! Will absolutely use again!”

About: I treat every pet like family, offering personalized care and devoted attention to ensure they feel safe, loved, and truly at home while you're away. I can adjust my availability to accommodate specific requirements upon request, ensuring personalized attention and care for each pet’s unique needs and well-being, providing a comforting and secure experience. I prefer caring for pets in my home as it allows me to be more attentive, providing a loving environment that makes them feel at home and lessens their sense of their owner's absence. However, if the owner prefers, I can also visit their home to care for the pets, ensuring their comfort and routine are maintained.
“Vanessa stayed with Zoey, my Maltipoo for 3 nights. She sent me photos and did a great job. She also left my home 🏡 clean and neat as it was when she arrived. I recommend her if you want “Housesitting” for your pet.”

About: I have a cat Liam who I care for and I help my family care for their cats and dogs as well. I have pet sit/house sit for 3 years now. I'm consistent with my check ups and walkings/feedings. I stick to a schedule all the time. I'm also always all over the areas from Venice to Riverview, I can always do drop by, a quick walk. I'm flexible with my schedule to fit your pets needs, and any last minute bookings! I'm currently working at 2 jobs and still have free time for your pets! I work as a house cleaner and receptionist, I love staying active and just hanging out with animals. My desk job gives me 3-5 hours of an extended break Thu-Sunday. Outside of that I am I clean homes and offices around the Venice, Sarasota, and Bradenton Area. My family and I have 3 cats, Liam, Munchkin, and Sunni. We also have a chihuahua mixed, shes our oldest. I keep our pets on a feeding schedule and in charge of food and keeping it stocked. I am very strick about their feeding schedule and food quality. Before I even became a cat parent I did extensive research just trying to find the best quality and affordable food, litter, toys. I've always wanted the best for them and treat them as an baby. Our cats also love the outdoors so I also walk them, harnessed or off but they well enough to stay close when we walk. I've also taught Liam a few tricks for treats (he'll do almost anything for treats).
“Tara was absolutely amazing with my senior dog, Albert. He has several medical conditions, including patellar luxation, anxiety, and ongoing eye issues that require medication, so finding someone I trust is incredibly important. As a veterinary technician, Tara immediately put me at ease with her knowledge and professionalism. Throughout the evening she sent frequent updates and photos, asked thoughtful questions about his care, and never made assumptions. I especially appreciated that she asked whether Albert could safely get off the bed himself or if she should lift him because of his patellar luxation. She also administered his eye medication, kept me updated during a thunderstorm, and even put on calming music to help him relax. The next morning, Tara checked in to make sure Albert was doing well after we got home, which really showed how much she cares. She treated him like he was her own, and I had complete peace of mind knowing he was in her care. I highly recommend Tara, especially if your pet has medical needs or needs someone who will go above and beyond.”

“Words cannot explain how grateful I am for finding Sumintra. I had never used this app before but she made it exceed my expectations. She was very caring with my babies, she was always communicating everything to me and sending pictures and videos. It made me feel so peaceful and calm. I recommend Sumintra 100%. Eternally grateful.”

About: I am happy to provide a cozy and fun spot for your pup to hang out. My Pit mix and I spend a lot of our time in the garden, pool cage, or acre yard. My Pitty is very friendly, she has been purposefully and extensively socialized so that we can do this work together. The atmosphere here is serene and I’d love to share that with more pups in my neighborhood! Currently I work part-time from home and I’m hoping to supplement some lost income with something I enjoy. That will benefit my pup and my neighbors pups! Since I work from home I can offer my services any day of the week for boarding or sitting. I cannot help but empathize with animals. I love making dogs happy, they are such pure souls. While I make a point to set appropriate boundaries and keep an eye on everybody, I believe in leading with kindness. If you choose to have me stay at your home I am happy to do some cleaning or light chores for you while I am there.

“Seth is fabulous! He took great care of our animals and showed compassion for each of them. He communicated well each day we were gone which gave us peace of mind. He also took the dogs for walks which they enjoy immensely. I recommend Seth highly!”

“McKenna and Kelly took such good care of my babies and gave them so much attention. They sent lots of pictures and updates. I was able to have piece of mind on my trip knowing they were so well cared for. I can’t thank them enough and will definitely keep them in mind for the future!”

About: I've taken care of cats, dogs, and exotics for many years. Well versed in pet care for any breed and kind of animal. Big fan and friend of all pets alike. I am a part time cosmetologist! I spend 6 hours of my day at the salon and come home to spend the rest of my time with your pets. I have a very friendly but shy chihuahua who would be separated from your furry friend in my home. I can uphold any rules you may follow in your own home for your pets as need be.

“Caden did an excellent job with dog and house sitting from 05/22/2026 - 05/25/2026. He was reliable, responsible, and took great care of both our dog and home while we were away. Everything was well looked after, and it gave us real peace of mind knowing things were in good hands. We came back to a happy dog and a house that was just as we left it. I would gladly recommend Caden and would be happy to work with him again.”

Dennis took wonderful care of our 3 kittos ❤️🐾🐾🐾 I loved getting such cute pictures of them while we were away, and it was evident upon meeting him in person and while away that he is very much a cat whisperer, giving Jackson Galaxy the OG “Cat Daddy” a run for his money. Dennis took good care of our home, and his communication left us feeling very much at peace while in the mountains for a week. Having no signal where we were at made me a little nervous, so every time I checked my phone when within cell signal and seeing the latest update with images, I felt more and more secure that all was quite well at home. Dennis is especially adept at caring for kitties with special needs, so seeing my very old girl so loved on was extra special. Thank you, Dennis! We will definitely be reaching out for all our kitty needs. ❤️

Elaine was an absolute lifesaver for us! Last minute, she stepped in with kindness and genuine love for both our mini Bernedoodle and kitten, making our first time away from them so much easier. She stayed right in our home, creating a cozy and familiar environment that kept our fur babies calm and happy. Throughout the day, we received adorable photos and thoughtful updates that truly put our minds at ease. If you’re a pet owner on the hunt for an amazing sitter, look no further—Elaine is the one you want! Her care went above and beyond, and it was clear she treated our pets like her own. We’re beyond grateful and can’t wait to have Elaine back again—such a wonderful, heartwarming experience all around!

Larsen took amazing care of our two baby boys! We went out of town for a whole week and left them behind for the first time ever, so we were a little nervous. Larsen sent us updates and pictures of our boys to reassure us while we were away! He respected and honored their routine and boundaries, and stayed overnight to keep them company. When we came home, we arrived to a clean apartment and happy pups! We highly recommend him and will use for all future bookings! :)

Michaela took awesome care of our 2 dogs while we were away. She stayed at our home and everything looked great and pups were fine when we returned. She was able to come over and meet our dogs and do a quick walkthrough before booking which made us feel more comfortable. We will definitely be booking with her in the future! Thanks Michaela!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lakewood Ranch
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lakewood Ranch on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,185 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lakewood Ranch. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lakewood Ranch walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lakewood Ranch maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lakewood Ranch choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
