About: Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. From iguanas and hamsters to cats and dogs, I’ve cared for just about every kind of furry, scaled, and whiskered companion along the way 🐾 I’ve especially spent most of my life caring for dogs, so understanding their personalities, routines, and needs comes naturally to me. I currently have a 14 year old dog who is truly my pride and joy, and caring for her has only deepened my love and patience for animals. You can trust that I’ll treat your pets with the same attention, affection, and care I give my own. Your pets won’t just be looked after, they’ll be genuinely loved 🤍 I work full time (9-5) but in the evenings and Weekends I am free(: so any needs you may have please don’t hesitate to reach out. 😌 Well I’m sure since I can’t provide my own home, that you the owner will let me know any safety hazards or things I would need to know before anything
“Adela did a great job and communicated really well. The cats were very happy because she kept their routine the same and made sure they had everything they needed. One of our cats needed eye drops, and she did a good job giving them to him. She stayed over and left our house so clean. I highly recommend her for cat and house sitting. 😊”

“Meara was wonderful with our Daisy. She was available and prompt and obviously loves dogs. Daisy liked her immediately. Meara shares pictures while we were away, and kept us informed of her schedule. In addition, Meara was graciously flexible when we had major flight issues trying to get back home and she made herself available with extra time while we worked out how to get home. She put our minds at rest knowing Daisy was being taken care of. We look forward to having Meara watch our baby again in the future.”

About: Experienced in formal dog care since I was 15, including rescue, training and boarding. I work from home Monday - Friday with a flexible schedule and availability to provide a wide variety of services to give your pet the premium care they deserve. I care for pets as if they’re my very own. All incoming animals have free range of furniture, toys, and sleeping in which ever bed they choose.

“McKayla was absolutely amazing while house-sitting and caring for my dog, Mable, and my cat, Kaiah. Mable is still a puppy with a ton of energy, so she can definitely be a handful, but McKayla was incredibly patient, attentive, and wonderful with her. She also took great care of Kaiah and made sure both pets were happy, comfortable, and well cared for while I was away. What really stood out was her communication. She sent so many photos and updates throughout my trip, which gave me complete peace of mind knowing my pets were in great hands. She was always easy to reach, quick to respond, and kept me informed the entire time. Since she stayed in my home, I also appreciated how respectful and responsible she was. Everything was clean, tidy, and exactly as I left it when I returned. Coming home to happy pets and a well-cared-for house made all the difference. I would absolutely book McKayla again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, communicative, and caring pet sitter. She went above and beyond, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

About: I have been a veterinary technician and am a life long animal lover. I have my associates degree in veterinary science. Comfortable with medication and older animals. Taking care of pets since I was a kiddo. My schedule is very flexible and I am available for most jobs. The career I have is sales and I am able to set my own appointments/hours. I have a fenced in yard and am able to crate if needed. We do not currently have any dogs in our home, one cat who is friendly.
About: I've taken care of cats, dogs, and exotics for many years. Well versed in pet care for any breed and kind of animal. Big fan and friend of all pets alike. I am a part time cosmetologist! I spend 6 hours of my day at the salon and come home to spend the rest of my time with your pets. I have a very friendly but shy chihuahua who would be separated from your furry friend in my home. I can uphold any rules you may follow in your own home for your pets as need be.
About: I grew up on a farm with dogs, cats, horses, cattle, chickens, ducks, sheep, and pigs. I started showing animals at my county fair when I was 9 years old. I have taken care of dogs and cats my whole life until I moved to Florida this year to live with and help take care of my grandpa. It would be a blessing to find some new animal friends to love on! I am currently working full time the the Lido Beach Resort as the Front Office Supervisor. My schedule is 3 PM to 11 PM so my mornings are free. If needed, I am also more than happy to swing by after my shift to walk/check on pets. I am unable to board pets at my house at this time, but I do not take going into other homes lightly. It is an honor that I treat with the utmost respect.

“Connie was a new house and pet sitter for us. It can be a bit stressful when finding someone new; however, I didn’t have to worry one bit! Connie was easy to get to know quickly and can tell she’s passionate for all animals. She left me feeling confident that the house and pets would be in very good hands. Professional, compassionate with great communication! Thank you!!!”

“If I could give a 100 ⭐️ rating for Cole I definitely would. I had a family reunion in another state to attend and my Molly is not only my emotional support animal but she’s also getting older and dealing with senior dog issues with hearing and seeing and getting weak in her back legs and I was panicking about leaving her in a kennel when my concierge sent me some people who could stay at my home and take care of her I carefully reviewed the list and immediately Cole stood out and I had a feeling in my heart he’s the one! We met before leaving town so he could meet Molly and she would get to know him a little and not be afraid. He kept in constant contact while we were gone and sent pictures of her cuddling with him. My heart just melted 🥰 We got home from our trip and Molly wasn’t expecting us and barked and backed up like we were strangers lol because she wanted Cole back. My husband and I are so very grateful and thankful for Cole and would highly recommend him for anyone who may need a dog/home sitter he’s a genuine person who truly loves and cares about our furry kids 🐶💖 I don’t know how to thank him enough for his kindness and love for our girl while we were gone.🙏🏻”

“Great experience with Lexi! She watched our dog at our home & did amazing with Daisy! She was so friendly, sent photos of Daisy, and kept us up to date on how she was doing. Great communication & Daisy loved her! Would highly recommend.”

“Erin is great with our little Daisy and she definitely left the house in tip top shape (better than it was left). We will continue to be a repeat customer. Thank you, Erin.”

“Tracy was wonderful with our dog and cat. Our dog is blind and anxious and she administered all his medications and helped him feel at ease. She took wonderful care of our home and even left it cleaner than when we left!”

“Our dog is scared of many things and we were not sure how she would respond to a new person watching her for a week. Ashley did a wonderful job! She sent us many pictures throughout the week and kept us updated on everything. We highly recommend Ashley!”

About: I’ve spent my whole life around dogs, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. While I’ve raised puppies—like my sweet girl River, who I had from 8 weeks old to 3 years—I’ve grown to love the rhythm and bond that comes with dogs at every stage of life. What sets me apart is a deep sense of patience, attentiveness, and love that comes from years of hands-on experience. I’m especially comfortable with routines, emotional needs, and making sure your dog feels safe and cared for while you’re away. Whether your dog is energetic, mellow, senior, or somewhere in between, I show up with calm energy, genuine care, and a heart full of love for every pup I meet. I currently work remote so I have the flexibility to go on walks during the afternoon, evening, early morning or whenever they need to go out! I’m currently in an house with no other pets. I have plenty of room for them to hangout and feel safe. I’ll make sure they get lots of cuddles and walks.
“McKenna and Kelly took such good care of my babies and gave them so much attention. They sent lots of pictures and updates. I was able to have piece of mind on my trip knowing they were so well cared for. I can’t thank them enough and will definitely keep them in mind for the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Longboat Key
Adela was great with my 167 lb dog and 6 lb cat. She sent plenty of pictures/updates and I got the feeling that she cared for my animals exactly as I would. She is obviously an animal lover! Because my dog is so large, I knew it would take a special person to walk him. Not only did I feel like she had the animal skill level to watch over my big boy, she took very detailed interest in the particulars of his feeding schedule. I am so happy to have found her because I feel like I have a great back up should I have to travel or be away for longer during the day than I want my animals to be alone.i highly recommend Adela!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Longboat Key walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Longboat Key maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Longboat Key choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
