“Georgia stayed at our house for a week with our boys. She was communicative, and willing to assist if needed with another visit since our flight was delayed. She is very friendly and easy to work with, I would definitely recommend her services and will likely reach out again when we are in need. Thank you Georgia!”

“Kate took great care of my dog, Khloe while I was out of town! She kept me updated the whole time. My house was nice and neat and clean after and she even brought my mail in for me. 10 out of 10 recommend :)”

“Calli did a great job watching my cat and house for several days, and she was flexible accommodating a last minute flight change on my return. She recognized a stressed-out cat who was not used to her owner being away, took her time letting the cat warm up her, and provided updates along the way. You'll be comfortable leaving your pet and house in Calli's hands!”

“Can I give 10/5 stars?! Sarah and her sweet corgi, Hattie, dog- and house-sat for us this past week. Hattie settled in with our husky and mini dachshund quickly and they looked like happy sisters in every photo we got from Sarah while we were away! 💗 Both of our girls are looking for Hattie still this morning, so I know they had a great week together! Sarah took great care of our home - it’s cleaner now than when we left. We’re looking forward to having Sarah care for our fur babies every time we need to be away in the future. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!”

“Rachel was great taking care of our boy while we were gone overnight! She sent pics and updates and it was clear she enjoys taking care of animals. I will definitely book her again!”

“Renae did a great job of staying with our dog over a four day and three night period. She was responsive to text messages and gave us updates. We were very happy with our experience and would recommend Renae!”

“Steven wasn't able to do overnights with our dogs, but he visited frequently each day and both dogs were so comfortable with him, they weren't stressed at all. They settled into a routine with Steven easily, I think because Steven has such a great vibe with them. We have already booked Steven to take care of our fur babies for two trips later this year. I can absolutely recommend!”

“Our dogs loved Skyler and his communication with us was wonderful. While we were gone, there was a terrible storm which caused a power outage and he went above and beyond and stayed with our dogs till we could get home! Highly recommend”

“Rachel did a great job with my two dogs while we were out of town. I felt like I could trust her from the start, and she proved that intuition right. She shared photos and sent frequent updates. I’d gladly hire Rachel again.”
“By far the most thorough meet & greet of any dog sitter we've had. Good at asking questions (re medicines or other things regarding the dogs' care) when they come up.”

“Jasmine took care of my senior dog while I was away for a week. He requires a lot of medication and she did a great job making sure he got his meds on time overall great job and I would recommend her!”

“Kyleigh was amazing! I’m a first-time Rover user, and she made the whole process so easy by answering all my questions and guiding me through everything. She took wonderful care of Coco and sent me updates that truly brightened my day! Kyleigh was respectful of both my home and Coco, and she wasn’t afraid to ask questions when needed. She even went above and beyond by being flexible and staying an extra day for me. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone — she did a fantastic job!”

Calli did a fantastic job with my dogs and watching my house. My two larger dogs clicked with Calli immediately and through the pictures I was sent, I could tell they were enjoying Calli's care. Instructions were followed and my dogs were happy and healthy when I came home. Calli alerted me to issues with water in the basement and was flexible as I had people come to mitigate the issue. Would 100% have Calli stay at my house again - very trustworthy, conscientious of my space and preferences, and most importantly, good with my dogs!

Kas was wonderful with our puppy, Nibbles! She took great care of him, kept him company, took him to the park, and even treated him to pup cups. 🥰 We really appreciated how caring and attentive she was with him. Nibbles clearly enjoyed his time with her! We would definitely recommend Kas and will absolutely reach out to her again for future house sitting. Highly recommend! ❤️

Brinley was amazing! We have an elderly dog that recently started new meds and she ran out twice. She was very quick to let us know and picked them up from the vet. She also walked the younger dog everyday, which she loved. Everyday, sometimes twice a day, we received photos of each of the dogs. She pulled out trash cans down and back up on trash day without us even asking her to. She was very professional and sweet. Highly recommend and will use again!

I can't thank Sarah enough for house and dog sitting for us while we went out of town for 5 days! She is so incredibly thoughtful, respectful and responsive. She sent regular updates with pictures of our dogs, and didn't mind my check-ins. She even stayed an extra day when our roadtrip took us on a different path. Knowing that she was here with Hattie, taking care of our energetic puppy and older dog who requires extra care and medicine, made my trip truly stress-free. I so appreciated her willingness to help us, and her bringing Hattie to come entertain my pups! I would recommend her to anyone and can't wait to work with her again!!

This is the second time Steven has taken care of our two dogs for a week-long trip. They really seem to take to him and they're (relatively) calm and happy when we return! I mean, they're still our rambunctious crazy puppies but about as calm as they get. We appreciate Steven's conscientious care and have already requested him for our next trip! Thanks, Steven!

Kati watched our two big dogs and two cats for 10 days and was the best with them! She was so caring and attentive to their needs and sent many pictures/updates of our fur babies. Kati has watched our dogs regularly on a weekly basis for a few months now and for this extended stay and we trust her whole-heartedly with our animals. I’d recommend Kati over and over!

KaDee was absolutely wonderful with my two dogs, and I felt completely at ease leaving them in her care. She asked thoughtful questions that showed how truly invested she is in their well-being, and after her consistent updates and great walks, I will definitely be rebooking her in the future!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Normal walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Normal maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Normal choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Normal. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
