Renae did an amazing job taking care of our house and our rambunctious young dog! She was responsive and mindful, and gave us a full report when we got back how things had gone. Renae and both knowledgeable and loving, and we’d trust her to sit for us again anytime!

Skyler was great! I got constant updates with a lot of photos and videos. His attentiveness and care were first rate and made my dog feel very comfortable about being away from me. So much so that I think she wasn't ready to leave when it was time for me to get her lol

About: I have owned dogs since I was a kid and still do. I have had experience with many different breeds and ages as well. I have experience with cats but I have been attacked and they make me nervous but with the appropriate introduction I am just fine. I care for my neighbors dogs quite often as he’s a firefighter and I have been doing that for over 2 years. I have trained many young dogs but i’m not a dog trainer. I go to school full time but only attend 3 in person classes, but I can let you know my school schedule upon request. I also work part time at night starting at 4, again I can provide a schedule upon request. Your pet’s safety and well-being are my top priorities during every walk and drop-in visit. I take the time to get to know each pet’s routine, personality, and needs to help them feel comfortable and cared for. During walks, I use safe leash-handling practices and pay close attention to our surroundings. During drop-in visits, I’ll make sure your pet has fresh water, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention. You can count on me to be reliable, respectful of your home, and to provide updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. 🐾😊

Natalee did a great job and the dogs were happy and relaxed when we returned. I mean, as "relaxed" as these two get, anyway. They seemed to enjoy their time with her very much! We felt they were perfectly safe in her care.

About: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic 2-year-olds to senior dogs around 12 years old. I’ve provided in-home care, making sure each dog is fed, exercised, given plenty of attention, and kept comfortable while their owners are away. I understand that every dog has a different personality and routine, and I always strive to provide safe, reliable, and loving care so owners can have peace of mind. My schedule is very flexible. I attend school from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on weekdays, which leaves me available most afternoons, evenings, and weekends for pet care. I’m happy to work with your schedule and provide dependable care whenever you need it. I prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and positive environment for every dog I care for. I understand that pets are part of the family, and I treat each dog with patience, attention, and respect. I focus on following their normal routines, providing plenty of supervision, and making sure they feel secure and cared for while they are away from home.

Jasmine was absolutely brilliant! She is knowledgeable and reliable, and our furbabies adore her! She was equally adept at tending to our 3-month-old puppy as she was our old, grumpy chihuahua. She knows her way around both cats and dogs and was able to offer us training support with our wee one. We will definitely be booking her for future pet sitting needs - even if we're convinced that our pups already love her more than they love us :)

Brinley was amazing! We have an elderly dog that recently started new meds and she ran out twice. She was very quick to let us know and picked them up from the vet. She also walked the younger dog everyday, which she loved. Everyday, sometimes twice a day, we received photos of each of the dogs. She pulled out trash cans down and back up on trash day without us even asking her to. She was very professional and sweet. Highly recommend and will use again!

We left Elena with our two aging dogs. Bear has degenerative myelopathy - a nerve disease that leaves her with little use of her back legs. She's still a spirited dog, but demands A LOT of hands-on attention and care. it takes considerable sensitivity and patience to deal with her everyday needs. And a willingness to clean up an occasional indoor "accident" - also part of the disease. Elena did a fantastic job with both dogs - keeping them on a regular eating schedule (which is more difficult that it sounds), making sure they stayed hydrated, providing them with loving company, and giving them opportunities to get out and enjoy the day. When Bear developed an intestinal problem (not an uncommon symptom of her condition), Elena contacted us immediately, consulted with us on next steps, and then took care of everything. In less that 12 hours, all problems were resolved. I cannot say enough good things about Elena. She is sincerely passionate about taking care of dogs and has a wealth of experience to draw on. She's intelligent, grounded, and an excellent communicator. We returned to calm and content dogs - happy to see us, but I think a little disappointed that Elena was leaving. (I should also mention that Elena took excellent care of the house and our plants.). Elena is the best. Truly.

About: Hello! I have been pet sitting for friends and family for the past 3 years now and have finally decided to meet more animals! I am so excited to meet your fluffy (or non-fluffy) friends! I start school August 15, so until then I am free to take care of your pet at anytime of the day! I will typically try to DoorDash to make some extra cash, but will stop every couple of hours to check on your friend! I treat every home and pet like my own — that means following your routines closely and communicating with you along the way so you're never left wondering how things are going. For drop-in visits, I stick to the schedule you set for feeding, medication, and fresh water, and I always do a walk-through to make sure everything's secure before I leave. I'll bring in mail/packages and rotate lights if that's part of the ask. For dog walks, I keep to your dog's normal route and pace unless you tell me otherwise, always leash up before opening any doors, and clean up after them every time. I pay close attention to their body language, especially around other dogs or people, and I'll never push a walk if it's too hot, too cold, or your dog seems off that day. For overnight house sitting, I keep your pet's routine as close to normal as possible — same feeding times, same bedtime habits, same amount of attention and play. I treat your home with respect (locking up, keeping things tidy, not having guests over) and I check in with updates so you can relax while you're away. Across all of it: I send photo/video updates, I'm comfortable with basic medication administration (pills, drops, insulin if trained), and if anything seems off with your pet's health or behavior, I contact you and the vet right away rather than guessing.

Georgia was wonderful with my cat and dog while I was away on vacation! She sent regular updates with photos and finished out a round of medications my dog was on. I particularly appreciated her flexibility. She was able to add a day onto the scheduled time at the last minute for me. She was easy to communicate with and my pets seem very happy to have been in her care. Since they are both needy velcro pets that says a lot. Thanks for your help Georgia! I will definitely book again if you are available next time I need a pet sitter!

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I have many years of pet sitting experience, 3 years working in a veterinary clinic, and 4 years at a boarding facility. Whether your pet needs playtime, medication, or extra TLC, they'll be in caring and experienced hands. Caring for animals is already part of my everyday life. Working a few days a week at a local boarding facility gives me in tune and allows me to gain more experience every day! Keep in mind, I am a full time student at ISU, meaning I will have classes here and there throughout the week, but I am still available plenty throughout the day to care for your fur babies in every way possible! I'll care for your pet as if they were my own by following their normal routine day to day. My goal is to keep them happy, comfortable, and stress free while you're away.

About: I have been a pestsitter since 2018. From just a simple check-in to in-home sitting for 4 months, I've had a wide variety of experiences. I am available early morning, short afternoons, and evenings. I can provide morning and evening check-ins, in-home care, and walks. I work full-time, so any afternoon care would be during my hour break. With in-home care, I ensure I get as much information needed to properly care for the pet(s) and the home. I do my best to provide the pet(s) with nearly the same care they receive normally. I always make sure to eat my own food and clean the home before my departure.

About: What sets me apart is my real, everyday experience caring for animals. I handle high-energy dogs like my Belgian Malinois, volunteer at shelters, and provide patient, loving, reliable care. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine with college. I make time to walk, play with, and care for dogs because I genuinely enjoy being around animals and helping with pet sitting. At a client’s home, I care for pets by following their normal routine for feeding, walks, and playtime to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I give plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship, and make sure they feel safe and cared for while their owner is away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Gillum on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 156 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gillum. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gillum walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gillum maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gillum choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
