“Great sitter! My dog has a medical condition and she took care of him just as instructed. She took him for walks even in the bitter cold. I will book her again! Thank you Georgia for taking such good care of my pet!”

“Can I give 10/5 stars?! Sarah and her sweet corgi, Hattie, dog- and house-sat for us this past week. Hattie settled in with our husky and mini dachshund quickly and they looked like happy sisters in every photo we got from Sarah while we were away! 💗 Both of our girls are looking for Hattie still this morning, so I know they had a great week together! Sarah took great care of our home - it’s cleaner now than when we left. We’re looking forward to having Sarah care for our fur babies every time we need to be away in the future. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!”

“Calli did a great job watching my cat and house for several days, and she was flexible accommodating a last minute flight change on my return. She recognized a stressed-out cat who was not used to her owner being away, took her time letting the cat warm up her, and provided updates along the way. You'll be comfortable leaving your pet and house in Calli's hands!”

“Rachel was great taking care of our boy while we were gone overnight! She sent pics and updates and it was clear she enjoys taking care of animals. I will definitely book her again!”

“Rachel did a great job with my two dogs while we were out of town. I felt like I could trust her from the start, and she proved that intuition right. She shared photos and sent frequent updates. I’d gladly hire Rachel again.”
“Gabby was great, very responsive! Loved that we always heard back quickly, and her responses were always positive and kind. We felt her pricing was fair and appreciated her flexibility when we asked to add overnight visits to our booking! My sister helped check on the dogs when Gabby wasn’t there and they were always happy and seemed great! Nice to have someone snuggling our babies while we were gone!”

“Renae was an excellent pet/house sitter. She was kind, loving and attentive to our pet, while being communicative to us while away. Renae has a great, engaging personality and I would recommend her to anyone on this site.”

“Skyler was great! I got constant updates with a lot of photos and videos. His attentiveness and care were first rate and made my dog feel very comfortable about being away from me. So much so that I think she wasn't ready to leave when it was time for me to get her lol”

“Elena did a great job take care of our dogs. She was an extraordinary communicator and kept us updated at all times. We would recommend her to anyone who needs a dog sitter!”

“Andrew and Haley were wonderful! Very communicative, kind, and took great care of our energetic dog and old cat in our house for a weekend. I loved that they sent pictures and updates each day. We would absolutely ask them to watch our pets again in the future!”

“Jasmine was absolutely brilliant! She is knowledgeable and reliable, and our furbabies adore her! She was equally adept at tending to our 3-month-old puppy as she was our old, grumpy chihuahua. She knows her way around both cats and dogs and was able to offer us training support with our wee one. We will definitely be booking her for future pet sitting needs - even if we're convinced that our pups already love her more than they love us :)”

About: Hi there, I am pet sitting dogs and around dogs since I was a kid! I am a lover of all dogs and enjoy spending time playing, walking, and cuddling with all fur babies! I am currently a full time social worker with availability in the early mornings, evenings, and weekends for drop in visits, walks, and house sitting. I am comfortable spending time in other peoples homes. I have two sweet dogs of my own that mean the world to me, so I understand how important trusting and loving pet care is!
“Kyleigh was amazing! I’m a first-time Rover user, and she made the whole process so easy by answering all my questions and guiding me through everything. She took wonderful care of Coco and sent me updates that truly brightened my day! Kyleigh was respectful of both my home and Coco, and she wasn’t afraid to ask questions when needed. She even went above and beyond by being flexible and staying an extra day for me. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone — she did a fantastic job!”

“Kaylin was great with our dogs and took good care of the house while we were away. She was very patient with the youngest dog who needed a little time to adjust to us not being there. She was communicative and shared sweet pictures throughout the stay. We were very grateful!”

“Due to unfortunate circumstances she couldn’t watch my pups. She was very proactive in keeping me up to date and helping me find another dog sitter. She said she would definitely like to help in the future.”

About: I’ve always loved animals and have cared for dogs, cats, and reptiles since I was young. I have several years of experience pet sitting for family and friends, including caring for pets while their owners are away on vacation and providing regular daily check-ins. I’m responsible, dependable, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs. I have a very flexible schedule and am available every day of the week, including weekends and overnight stays. I have 2 short classes MWF from 10-10:50 and Tues/Thurs 2-3:15. But, I am available before and after class and can easily work around your pets routine and needs! I will care for your pets in your home by following their routines, feeding, walking, and giving them lots of love and attention! I am willing to stay overnight when needed to keep your pets company and will always send regular updates throughout my visits.
About: I love to play and love on animals, and my daughter loves to research breeds and find what they like the most. And care for them that way. Your pet(s) will be well welcomed to our fun loving home. Welcome! I am working full time, dogs will have full access to backyard at their leisure. If they are unfamiliar with a dog door, I will train them. Litter box cleaned daily. And in the morning and evening some love and play time. I have a fenced in yard, dog door ( that locks) shelves and hiding spots for cats. I had made this an oasis for my cat and dog while they were still with us. Our free time is spent at the cat cafe, and the humane society. We will go walk the dogs there or play with the cats at both places. Any animal in need of love and attention, we are thrilled to provide it. Our dog passed of cancer 3 years ago and needed to be put down as it had spread and she was in terrible pain. It was a slow, and hard for to let go A year ago, our cat had this disease, and she became immobile immediately and was in chronic pain. It was such a quick loss. So I have been a little hesitant to bring another animal in full time. However, all animals are welcome and we look forward to building a safe spot for you and your pet while you are away.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Barnes
Melanie was top-notch. This was our first Sophie-care encounter with Melanie. Sophie is a 16+ year-old beagle with health issues and medicine requirements. We exchanged info through Rover, Melanie stopped by to meet Sophie and learn a little about Sophie’s care, and Melanie cared for Sophie during a drop-in session at our home. Melanie was professional, thoughtful, positive, and very clearly had Sophie’s health and well-being as her top priorities. We will definitely add Melanie to our go-to list.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Barnes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Barnes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Barnes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
