“Kyle was always prompt for visits to give my cat his medications. He provided great updates regarding how administration went, was patient with my cat, and was respectful to my house! Cannot recommend him enough!”

“Second time booking with William for a much longer out of state trip and he was great!!!! Super punctual and responsive! I felt comfortable leaving my anxious dog with him! Will definitely be booking with him again.”

“Bonnie takes such great care of our pets when we're gone and she's so sweet. You can tell she truly cares about the pets she watches. We are so lucky to have her as our sitter!”

“Kelly is reliable and responds quickly. This is the second time she has cared for our cat while we were out of town. We will definitely use Kelly again if she is available!”

““Highly recommend! My dog is handicapped and cannot walk, so finding someone I could truly trust was very important. She took exceptional care of my dog and went above and beyond to make sure all of her special needs were met. She was patient, compassionate, attentive, and kept me updated while I was away, which gave me great peace of mind. My dog was comfortable, happy, and well cared for the entire time. It’s not easy caring for a special-needs dog, but she handled everything wonderfully. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.””

About: I’ve grown up with cats and dogs all my life. I understand that each pet has their own personality and needs. Nothing would make me happier than a chance to get to know your precious pets and care for them like they’re my own! I currently work full time but with flexible hours. Typically, mornings and evening visits are best during the week but my weekends are wide open. I live in a dog friendly neighborhood a short walk from a large park with many trails and nature to explore. My place is full of sunshine that pets can bask in.

“Stephanie was such a huge help to us with our sick kitty. She dropped in to administer her meds while we were out of town and made sure she was doing okay! Will definitely be using Stephanie in the future for our cat care!”

About: Since 2020, I've been providing dependable dog walking and in-home pet care for families in the Inver Grove Heights, West St. Paul, and South St. Paul areas. As a proud British Lab owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pets the way you would. In addition to dog walks, I provide drop-in visits for dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Whether it's feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, administering simple care routines, playtime, litter box or cage maintenance, or simply spending quality time with your pet, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. My Yard: 5 ft privacy fence entirely enclosing the yard and deck. My Pet: 65lb spayed female British lab who is passive and needs a meet & Greet before we accept Boarding Crating? I follow your routine so if you want them crated, I will do that (some parents teach dogs to be crated at night). I would only ever use it other than your specific direction if I were to leave the house to store, etc. Dog won't be alone long - I am home during days. My family: 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 kid in house. Scope us out! Come visit with your pup for a meet & greet! Boarding: Occasionally I do accept dogs to board in our home. The dog needs to meet & Greet our dog first (she is calm, passive spayed). I only accept dogs to boardthat are up to date on vaccinations. We have kids and stuff (socks, toys) lays out...if your dog will ingest socks or "eat" things laying out, this isn't a good Boarding match. I believe every pet has a unique personality and deserves individualized care, patience, and affection. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you're away, knowing your pets are safe, loved, and receiving the attention they deserve. I am flexible during weekdays, mostly for check ins, potty breaks and feeding. In evening and weekends I am open for walks, check ins and feedings. I follow your Pet's routine as you detail it! Walks I require a leash. I send you updates and photos from walks or check ins. My House & Yard: Occasionally, we accept dogs for boarding. That is only if we do a Meet & Greet first, and determine our dog (9 yr old, calm and passive British lab, spayed) is a match. We would only boarding a dog in our home that is up to date on vaccinations
“Let my boy Odie out and fed him when I had some early and long mornings at work! Great communication and able to accommodate an early drop in time. Will definitely book with her again!”

About: Between my own family and my wife's, I've had alot of experience with dogs of all shapes and sizes. I've house sat for elderly dogs and raised and trained our own puppy. I've rescued half a dozen lost dogs from our neighborhood. Every dog I meet gets lots of love and yours would be no exception! We already have our miniature poodle pup Winston, so your pup would fit right in with us! I am working from home the vast majority of the time and if I was gone, my wife would be there. As the kid who was always the first to notice when a dog needed to go out and do its business, I'm very attentive to the needs of all dogs. Your pup will be a part of our family during their stay and kept company by my whole family.
“Paige was very prompt and communication was great. My shy cat even sat on her lap for pets, so she definitely is the right fit for us. The dogs did well too. We will have her back.”

“Was able to help last minute and was great with my new puppy and bigger pup. Greatly appreciate her being able to help out so last minute. Will use Jessica again!”

“Rachel was a fantastic sitter for our 3 cats! We spent 2 weeks abroad and it was such a comfort knowing she was stopping in daily to care for our fur babies. She sent updates daily with how they were doing and provided lots of pictures, which were so fun to see. She had great communication and was very quick to respond to messages. Rachel has a gentle personality that is perfect for caring for your pets, and we will absolutely be booking with her in the future.”

“Alexis is the best and worked really hard to make Walter feel comfortable, I will definitely be using her again. Let me tell you a story. One morning, Alexis was checking on my dog. She accidentally locked herself out of my house. Bummer, right? I was really mad for a while. Not Alexis' fault, since I thought my roommate wasn't going to be home but he actually was and locked her out without realizing it. Anyway, instead of leaving my dog in the yard and leaving, she stayed with my dog until I came home from camping that afternoon, gave him water, walked him extra, and kept him from freaking out. She really treated my dog like her own.”

About: I've had 2 dogs but am unable to have an animal of my own right now. I am a go-to sitter of friends and family for caring for their dogs and/or cats when they go out of town. I love taking care of animals! I'm currently working a hybrid schedule of Monday and Friday's at home. I am available to watch dogs/cats the whole week, but need to be in the office Tuesday - Thursday. So, if your dog can go a little over 8 hours between potty breaks this is no issue. I do work fairly close to home, so could come home on lunch break for a quick bathroom break. I live in a townhouse with a small, mulched front yard. I have a long leash that I can let dogs out on for quick bathroom breaks (I will be outside with them to supervise) . The neighborhood has sidewalks throughout and low traffic to take dogs on longer walks. Neighborhood is very dog friendly. Applewood Nature Reserve is also a walkable distance from my house (dogs should have tick prevention if you want them walked in the park). Longer walks would be up to 2 miles depending on your pets ability.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Newport
Ingrid completed 3 drop in visits for my old kitty cat named Phantom. She sent me detailed updates and photos everyday. Phantom has an issue with going potty outside the box and Ingrid replaced the per pads, cleaned up a kitty mess in the kitchen and I came home to a clean litter box. I would highly recommend Ingrid!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newport. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
