“Nathan was absolutely wonderful as our house and dog sitter while we were away for Spring Break! From the start, he was communicative, reliable, and made us feel completely at ease leaving both our home and our dog in his care. He stayed in our home and treated it with great respect, everything was clean and just as we left it when we returned. Most importantly, our dog was happy, well cared for, and clearly got plenty of attention and exercise while we were gone. Nathan kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind during our trip. We truly appreciated how attentive and responsible he was, and it made a big difference knowing everything at home was in such good hands. We would absolutely recommend Nathan to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter, and we would love to have him back again in the future!”

“Mandy went above and beyond for us. We contacted her to pet sit last minute, after another Rover sitter canceled 12 hours before we left for an international trip. She was understanding, accommodating, and so sweet with our pets. We would not hesitate to hire her again. Thank you, you’re the best Mandy!!”

“Sarah was so incredibly kind and patient with Sherlock, especially as he had a bad start of his time with her. We came back to an immaculate home and happy fur babies. Thanks so much Sarah!”

“Jena was by far the best sitter we have had. Sent many pictures, kept us very informed, did extra special things- She is amazing! If she is available, we won’t use anyone else! Highly recommend her!!”

“Amber was lovely! Sat for the day in my home on a last minute request, checked in frequently with updates and pictures, and followed all care instructions ❤️ Thank you for the great care!”

“Rebecca is a wonderful sitter! My two pugs and lab looked and acted exactly the same as when I left them. They were with Rebecca in her home for four nights. I returned from my trip to three happy, healthy pups!”

About: We are a family of 5 - Erika (Spouse) Me (Patrick), Cailen (Little boy of 3yrs), Cherie (Boxer) and Chiquito (Chihuahua) always 5 in same room, love at all time and caring having fun in yard, water and running! Nobody cares about dogs like we do... provide treats, care and very loving towards dogs. Dogs travel with us, dog follows us everywhere, shaded back yard so they can run, they swim with us in the little kids pool they take sun or simply chill.... very easy life here and plenty of place to run or relax as needed. No furniture in house is off limits. You break or chew then we lose that privilege. Simple, dog fun and be reassured we will treat your dog as we'd expect you treat ours.
“Kayla was absolutely phenomenal!! Could not have asked for a better pet sitter. She was sooooo sweet with our boys and they absolutely LOVED her & her daughter (which is not typical). The house was absolutely spotless- way better than we left it. She cooked for the boys & kept me updated with photos and daily check ins. I will never not book Kayla when we are out of town. 🤍”

“If I could give Madchen a rating higher than a 5 I most definately would. She was terrific. I booked her for a week, to stay in my home to take care of my 2 French Bulldogs. She came out and met me, my dogs and saw where she'd be staying. A week before our trip she checked in to see that we were still planning for her to stay and the day we had to leave she was not only on time, but a little early. She stayed in touch with us while we were away and sent us pictures of the dogs which helped us to relax when we saw they had taken to her quite fondly. She was respectful of my home and I couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter. I would definately ask her to care for my dogs again and I would highly recommend that others use her too. On top of it all, she's just an all around nice person.”
“Makaelah is a fantastic pet sitter! She stayed in our home with our senior dog for five days while we were away getting married. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and the house was just as we left it, We will definitely ask her to pet sit for us again. Highly recommend ❤️🐾❤️🐾”

“Kylie was absolutely amazing with my dogs, and I can’t recommend her enough. From the very beginning, her communication was clear, timely, and reassuring, which made me feel completely at ease while I was away. She surely made sure my dogs were happy and well cared for. It’s obvious that Kylie genuinely loves what she does. She was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive to my dogs’ needs, and they warmed up to her right away. My dogs were relaxed, happy, and clearly comfortable in her care - which says everything. If you’re looking for someone reliable, communicative, and truly great with dogs, Kylie is the one. I would absolutely trust her again without hesitation!”

About: I worked at a kennel for four years and have had a miriade of pets through the years. I really love animals and have three cats, a dog, several fish tanks, and a whole herd of chickens. I'm very calm and patient so at the kennel I often worked with dogs that were timid or elderly. I have a lot of experience taking care of all types of animals, each with their own special needs and requirements, so I'm happy when the parent tells me exactly what they want for their animal. I’m a pet portrait artist so my hours are very flexible. The kids are out for the summer so my schedule is wide open. I have a huge respect for people’s privacy and caring for their pets the way that they would want them to be treated. I love all the creatures.

“Treka was fantastic with our dogs this weekend. She was really responsive and did a great job with all three of them. We appreciated having her stay at our house, she was very respectful of everything and even went above and beyond to bring in some packages in case of rain. We were very grateful Treka was able to watch our dogs for us.”

“We needed a sitter on a short notice and Stephanie obliged to our request. We have energetic dogs and they sometimes forget their manners when they meet new people. She was very patient and even took the time to train them.”

“Tessa is so sweet and kind and truly has a heart for dogs! She went above and beyond in caring for my little Maggie and our home. We have definitely found our forever dog sitter 🐶”

“Kelsie was great with our big pup! She gave regular updates including photos throughout the weekend. She was really easy to communicate with leading up to and throughout the time she stayed at our home. Would definitely recommend her!”

“Geoffrey was great! I was worry free. He sent cute pictures and gave me updates. My place was very clean when I returned. We will definitely ask him to watch Buddy and Chloe again”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Nameless walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Nameless maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nameless choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Nameless. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
