“There are not enough good things to say about our experience with Alex. I am normally a basket case with just leaving LeeLoo but now we have our 3 month old, Zeppelin, whom we cannot board. Alex was beyond attentive to their needs, schedules, and our instructions. He is very respectful and knows animal behavior. Our home was left in the same (actually better) condition than when we left. He provided updates frequently. But most of all, when we got home… the dogs weren’t even that excited to see us 😂😂😂😂. They were comfortable and cared for extremely well. Will be booking Alex again for sure.”

“Michelle was VERY thorough! My pups and cat really loved her. I appreciated the pictures and videos, and if she left the house, she let me know. When we got home, the dogs were happy-ish to see us.. clearly they were pampered and got lots of pets and attention. I wasn't nervous at all with Michelle, especially since my cat came out to meet her during our meet and greet. We will definitely keep her in mind for next time!”

“Nadia was communicative, tidy, and very patient with my dogs (one especially who takes awhile to warm up to new visitors). She even did a bit of extra cleaning for me! Highly recommend her services.”

“Denise is amazing. Our pug grumble loved her and our house was prefect when we came home. We are excited to have found Denise makes travel less stressful when you have a great sitter taking care of your pups. Thank you”

“Dominique is amazing! Very communicative, professional and, best of all, very caring for our pups! We have one dog with bad allergies and requires extra care; she managed with no problem which gave us peace of mind while we were gone. We will definitely book Dominique again!”

“Nichole is amazing. She goes above and beyond to make sure your pups are happy and safe. It is such a realized to have someone I can trust to take care of my babies (dogs) when I’m traveling. She sends pictures and updates which is so reassuring.”

“First time with Katie and we’re very pleased. Maggie and Charlie were happy when we got home. Katie left our house very neat and I appreciate that. Would have liked more pictures lol but that’s ok”

“Kalena is absolutely wonderful. Our dogs love her and she sent us so many adorable update videos and pics. Our dogs are our babies and she took such great care of them. Thank you from the bottom of our heart!”

“Lily was great to have with our dogs. She was very respectful and attended to our instructions with respect and understanding. The dogs took to her right away and when we returned they were calm and regulated.”

“Megan did an amazing job taking care of all three of our pups and our home! She was on time and sent pics and updates frequently! She was professional and she asked great questions during the meet and greet, which we truly appreciated. She was very respectful of our home! This was our first time having Megan care for our pups and home (we were gone for 10 days, the longest we’ve ever left our pups) and we will for sure be having her back!”

“Kristle was fantastic with my two dogs and left my house looking great! She was excellent with communication and quick to clear up any questions. She went above and beyond to make sure my very senior dog and high-energy younger dog had all their needs met. Looking forward to working with Kristle again!”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Avery took great care of our two dogs, Bosa and Murphy, while we were away. He was very reliable and communicative, and we really appreciated the updates and photos he sent during our trip. It gave us peace of mind knowing our dogs were in good hands. We came home to two happy pups, a clean house and everything was great shape. We would definitely book Avery again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter! Thx Avery!”

“We love having Christina housesit for us! I am always anxious because I hate leaving my babies, but she makes me feel so at ease. She sends the absolute best photos and updates and communicates well, which means so much to me!”

“Valerie was great at helping with the dogs and sticking to their routine. She was also super helpful in bringing in packages and coordinating with some services I had coming to the house. Already have her booked for future visits and will continue to use her!”

“Stephanie is absolutely amazing with my 2 dogs and 2 cats. We had just moved to a new home and 2 acre property before our vacation, and she took all of the stress out of leaving the animals in a new home while we were away. She goes above and beyond with her communication and detailed updates, which I greatly appreciate. My GSDs are high-anxiety by nature, so coming home to them relaxed is evidence of how well she cares for them and follows their routine. I have an escape artist cat that she manages to keep in the house - which isn’t always an easy task! Stephanie takes care of the house just as well as the animals, and even thoroughly cleaned up an unexpected pet mess for us as well. I highly recommend Stephanie for any pet care needs!”

“Our dog is fearful of meeting new people and Brandi's calm energy was great for him (and my anxiety about trying a new sitter lol!). She dealt with feeding him turkey through his muzzle and all the other details of a first meeting we wanted to cover. 10 stars on communication and reliability. She did wonderfully with Georgie on our 'trial run' before our longer trip and I'm so happy to have found someone we can trust our anxious fur baby with while we're away.”

“Michael was so kind and helpful with our dogs! Very communicative and patient with our younger one who has anxiety. We also had some flight issues and Michael was super helpful and went back to feed the dogs/let them out an extra time since we will be getting back so late. Highly recommend, great communicator and we felt very at ease while away!”

“Lea did an amazing job taking care of our cat Tiger. She always update us and respond quickly on our messages. She did what we ask her regarding our cat routine and feeding. We felt comfortable leaving our pet to her and did not worry at all on our entire trip.I will definitely use her service again in the future. Thank you Lea!”

“Brandon was such a pleasure to work with, when I returned home everything was perfect! Pups were so happy and excited to see me. My house looked great! He communicated regularly, and Brandon definitely eased all my anxiety. I am nervous pet mom and Brandon ensured me that everything went fabulous! Thank you so much Brandon❤️”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mountain City
Alex was one of the best sitters I have ever had. He did a great job with my two dogs; especially my 5 month old puppy. He played with them, took them outside and for walks, and sent pictures every day. He is so conscientious, and I felt no hesitation in leaving my dogs with him for a week. I would definitely hire him again.

RyeLee recognized our mention of “Denise” an hour before our departure and ran to front door looking for her. It had been several months since her last stay. He walked with us out to the sidewalk as we left but turned around to go back to Denise. Denise is a good companion to RyeLee. She pretty much stays with him the entire time we’re gone. That’s what our Little Boy needs. How blessed we are to have Denise as RyeLee’s primary Rover sitter.

Michelle was so incredible. This was my first time having a dog sitter for my 8yr old vizsla + my new vizsla puppy, I have always had anxiety over leaving them with anyone but my parents but we recently moved so needed to find a sitter for them. Michelle made my first experience so positive. She was SO communicative, so patient with my very high energy and needy girls, and was so respectful of my home! I genuinely didn’t worry about them once in her care. Will definitely be booking again. Thank you, Michelle!!!

Allyson was absolutely amazing with our pets. This was my first time ever using a pet sitter and she kept me in the loop with updates and with pictures. She completely put my mind at ease and my animals loved her. I would absolutely rebook with her again. Thank you Allyson!

She was amazing with my puppy! Super attentive, very active with him, and always kept me updated with messages and photos. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such great hands. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone with a pup—especially a high-energy one!

Emily was absolutely wonderful with our dogs. We had a last minute emergency that required us to find someone to stay with our dogs for a week with less than 24 hours notice. Within a few hours of reaching out she was here to meet our dogs and they instantly loved her. She was incredible with communication and pictures while we were gone and I have no doubt that my dogs were in great hands.

Emma was an absolute GEM of a find!!! She stepped in last minute and our pups absolutely adored her immediately. They were watching out the window when she left! She was so sweet and friendly, and followed all the instructions we left her! Would definitely use her again. 1000% recommend! Thank you so much Emma!!

As usual, Izzy was amazing! I’m so grateful she was available for the Fourth of July weekend! She made sure the dogs were safe and as calm as possible. She even asked ahead of time if they needed anything extra for when fireworks were going to be detonated! Or younger dog had the zoomies one of the days she was here and so she offered to take him for a walk. She’s very thoughtful and even folded all the blankets that were left tossed on the couch (teenagers lol). Definitely will continue using her services!

FAQs for House Sitting - Mountain City
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mountain City on Rover is $40 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,290 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mountain City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mountain City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mountain City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mountain City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mountain City. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
