“Chad is great! He took good care of our dog Milo while we were on a week’s vacation. We selected the drop-in visits service. He took the best pictures of Milo while on their walks and during his visits. He also gave great updates. Milo seems like he really enjoyed their time together. I will definitely book again.”

“Grace is the best! Our cat can be quite difficult and she was amazing with him! She took great care of him and I was never worried about him during our trip like I usually am. We will definitely hire her again!”

“I’ve never used Rover before but needed someone to pop in on our 3 cats each day while we were on vacation. I picked Kelly because she had great reviews and repeat clients. She came over for a meet and greet and I liked her immediately. While we were gone, I was notified when she checked in and out, she sent pics, and a brief note about each visit! I’d definitely recommend her to anyone and I’ll absolutely reach out to her again when needed.”

“Samantha did a great job taking care of our Finn. She treated him with the same care and understanding that we shoutout dog. We look forward to connecting with Samantha for future care of Finn.”

About: I've grown up with dogs (Vizslas) my whole life. I have experience in K-9 training and showing, as well as dog sitting (of all breeds and sizes) over the years. I'm a full-time student at Otterbein, so I am looking to dog-walk around my class and sports schedule throughout the week. My availability may vary depending on the week. I am comfortable and confident walking in neighborhoods. I am willing to travel by personal, reliable transportation. I am experienced with kennels, backyard use, and leash walking.
About: I'm from Texas and grew up around an assortment of animals, mostly dogs and cats. I have unique experience with newborn kittens including bottle feeding. I work a full-time job Monday through Friday, Early out Fridays (3 pm) On Weekdays I am available after 6pm until 5am. On Weekends I have open availability. Thank you for checking my schedule, if you have any specific needs please reach out, I am able to adjust my schedule if needed and I have holidays off. I currently only have aquariums but I do my best to make sure that my aquariums are clean and my fish are fed. This makes sure that they don't get sick. I would do the same in a client's home, I do the same when I watch my friends pets as well. I cat sit for a couple friends and help clean up and make sure the cats are fed and have play time.
“Emily took great care of our dog over a long weekend. She is responsive and provides a lot of detailed updates and pictures so that we knew our dog was safe and taken good care of. Highly recommend her services!”

About: From a young age, I have had the privilege of helping care for dogs of all sizes and breeds. Most of my adult experience with dogs is with senior dogs, cancer-related care, and post-surgery recovery care. My senior dog is my family, and I treat any animal in my care with the same love and attention to detail I do as my own dog. I also have 2 years experience with bearded dragons and am open to other types of pets as well! I currently work full time M-F and typically have availability for drop ins and walks after 6pm on weekdays. Weekends that are planned ahead of time provide even more flexibility for me, as I can usually make any time of day work Saturdays or Sundays to give your pet what they need! I treat client’s homes with care and respect. I follow household rules and pet care instructions closely. I am highly responsive and strive to provide clients with the communication needed for everyone to feel safe and secure during bookings.
“Sadie was on time and followed our requests for our Beau Beau. She mapped out his walks on our report and sent very cute pictures. Sadie was also very playful with Beau Beau but also spent some time petting and calming him as he has a separation anxiety. Thank you Sadie!”

“Kaylyn was so helpful! My shy kitty loved her! And she was taken good care of! When I got home, she was clean and happy. This is the first time I travel for over a week, and I was so nervous about it. I was so lucky to find Kaylyn. She made it so much easier!”

“Gina is amazing!! I cannot say enough positive things. Our wild little kitten had just gotten his cast off after recovering from a bad broken leg and was barely putting weight on it. I was in a panic having to leave town unexpectedly and she put my mind at ease and took care of him like her own. She gave him his meds, spoon fed him his food as he was struggling to eat in his cone and kept him out of trouble, which isn’t an easy task. Gina truly went above and beyond and we are very grateful.”

“Cas was awesome with our dogs! We have 4 territorial little dogs and Cas was on time, fed them dinner and gave them lots of love. 10/10 recommend We will be using Cas’s help again.”

Deanna was amazing with our puppy, Mocha! Drop-ins and a walk made for a great day for our puppy! She sent photos, videos, and communicated updates with me. It was very assuring to see our puppy well cared for. I highly recommend her to care for your pet and will be booking again!

This is the second time we have used Andrea when we left for a week. She is absolutely amazing. Sent us messages, pictures and really spent time with our dog on her visits. She allowed us to truly relax on vacation as she took care of our pet. Highly recommend

Khalia was an amazing cat sitter for our two kitties. She followed all instructions, fed them treats, gave them lots of snuggles, responded to messages promptly, and went above and beyond in many different ways. We would absolutely book her again and recommend her to anyone needing a sitter.

Maddie was able to stop by for drop-ins to care for our dogs, Lewey and Rizzo, during the week while I was at work. She sent updates each time and super adorable pictures! We always appreciate her taking such great care of our pups, and look forward to booking again!

Big thank you to Ashley for accepting my request to drop in my Beau Beau after our 1st sitter cancelled short notice. Ashley was great communicating and was very caring, paying lots of attention to him and his needs. Loved her positive personality! Punctual and professional!

Malachi did a wonderful job with Bruno. I was pretty anxious to leave Bruno with someone since I work from home, but I had to attend a conference for most of the day. I'm a bit of a helicopter mom, but Bruno looked like he was having a good time playing in the yard with Mal. I'm really happy to have found Bruno likes and will exercise with when im not available. He's pretty high energy so I'll most definitely be reaching back out!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
