“Anita is truly wonderful—thorough, reliable, and incredibly caring. She gives us peace of mind knowing our typically shy cats are comfortable, relaxed, and in such good hands. Thank you, Anita!”

“Taylor is great with our dog and she communicates so well from the time of booking to post visits. She also has been available last minute when we desperately needed help. Highly recommended Taylor!”

“Rachel did a great job visiting out elderly dog 3x per day for over a week while we were out of town. When we returned, our dog was happy and well cared for. She had some car trouble during the week, but handled it well by contacting our emergency contact person and asking that they help one day while she was having our car fixed, so it didn’t disrupt our vacation. I recommend her.”

“I appreciate Kennedy so much for checking in on my cat and feeding her. Kennedy was very nice and followed the instructions for my shy kitty. I would absolutely book with her again.”

About: I have always had a pet, and was a dog groomer for two years, as well as became certified. I worked at a pet store for 3 years! I am available 24/7 for pet sitting. They will never be left alone in my care, as well as going on walks whenever you’d like! My cat is my baby so I completely understand how loved your pets are, and will be sure to give them the same amount of love.

About: I have worked with New Albany Pet Rescue for over four years. My family has four dogs, three of them rescued, so I have a lot of experience with untrained dogs. My dad is a professional dog trainer and I help his dogs out from time to time, so I have a lot of experience with meeting new dogs, all types of breeds! I am into fitness so I am able to walk dogs very far and run to tire them out if needed. I also have a crate in an isolated room for boarding. Since I am in my gap year before medical school, I am available 24/7! I will be able to take care of your dogs and walk them at least 4 times a day! I have a fenced in backyard, and a very walkable neighborhood with a lot of parks. I have four dogs at my home, all of them trained and friendly, but we also have separate rooms/crates to keep them separate from your dog if that’s more comfortable! We are a very active family so we like to take our dogs on walks at least four times a day, and your dog will be treated the same!

About: I have been helping care for my beagle, Chance, for 9 years. I have taken care of dogs while babysitting. I know how to prepare food, control a tugger of a dog on walks, and give pets the love they deserve. My own beagle is somewhat disabled with full use in only 3 legs. My experience is in dogs, but I also love kitties. I am available to for work Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends all day. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday I have an internship until 3pm. Thursdays are available from 4pm-midnight. Monday and Tuesday are available from 4pm-6pm. All care will be done within clients house, with the exceptions of walks or dog parks. I am also available to drive your fur babies if necessary. I will always check the water dish and feed on time.

About: For years I’ve walked, fed, and played with peoples pets in the times they need some extra help! Hoping to help you the same way! I’m currently a returning college student, my availability is Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, as well as weekends. I am pretty available any time of the day right now and happy to care for your pet! I strive to respect your rules you have for your pets and your home! I want to keep your pet safe on walks and inside.

“Kathleen was amazing to our sweet pug! She played with her and walked her during her visits. She also shared lots of updates and photos of our girl. Will absolutely use Kathleen again and highly recommend her!”

About: I have had my own dog since I was five when I named my Doberman Rommel. (History nut even then.) Around New Albany people see me walking my dog constantly. All weather every day twice a day. Long walks that allow my dog LuLu to explore and destress. Best thing for them. I love dogs and almost always, they love me right back. I'm patient, protective, and I know dogs are family! I work from home and I'm semi-retired so my schedule is as flexible as it gets. I can make almost any days and times work and boarding is always a possibility if you don't mind your dog getting an overload of attention! I have a fenced yard and an overly friendly senior mutt. I'm also always aware of other dogs when I walk and I know how to prevent problems before they happen. I owned a Golden Retriever and larger dogs in the past so big breeds aren't a problem.
“Christi was so sweet to our cats and kept us updated while we were away. She played with them and sent pictures of them enjoying some extra attention. We would definitely recommend her!”

About: Lifelong dog lover and reliable walker with hands-on experience caring for many dogs, including my own, Ziggy and June. I understand that every pup has their own personality, energy level, and routine, and I’ll make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and cared for on every walk. As a teacher on summer break, I have open and flexible availability for walks, drop-ins, and pet care throughout the week. I’m reliable, responsive, and excited to spend my summer staying active and caring for dogs! Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I create a calm, friendly environment where dogs feel secure, cared for, and loved, while making sure every walk and visit is safe, attentive, and fun.
“She was fantastic! She accepted the booking last minute, as well as coming to meet the dogs beforehand. She did an amazing job taking care of everyone. Super friendly and kind! We’ll definitely book with her again! Highly recommend!”

“Deanna was very communicative and took great care of my kitties. She sent me loads of pictures and kept me updated on everything everyday. I really appreciated it as it allowed me to travel worry free, knowing that my cats were well looked after while I was away.”

About: I have been taking care of all kinds of pets ever since I was a young girl. Whether that consisted of a quick walk around the neighborhood, or an overnight stay while an owners away, I have a lot of past experience, taking care of each animal in their needs. I see each pet as an individual, as their needs may differ from others. My number one priority is making sure that all pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable. Pets come first always! I will make it a priority to make sure that I am available to be with any pet at any time. I can happily create a safe environment for different pet's needs. I believe spending 1 on 1 time is very important when making a pet feel comfortable, and most importantly loved.
“Faith was great! She pilled and gave other medication to our cat 4 days in a row and did a great job with her. By the end we could tell from our daily pictures that our cat was at ease with Faith. She was prompt and kept the litter box and food attended to as well.”

About: Personally have had 2 animals of my own and have taken care of others in the past. Animals have always bee n a passion of mine! I am very flexible. I work Monday-Friday from 9-3. Short days which would give me plenty of time to spend with your furry friend! I will have plenty of time to make sure they get all of their energy out! I make sure the pets are given all of the love and support they are needed to be happy in an unfamiliar environment. If they have a routine that you would like them to stick to I will do my best to make sure we continue to follow that routine!

As always, Mackenzie & Joey took exceptional care of our 2 cats for a week. They have cared for our cats many times. They are always totally reliable, communication is excellent and we never have to worry about anything. It gives us peace of mind to know that our kitties are well cared for.

Christi has watched our senior cat 3 times now! She is fantastic. We get great updates and pictures. Most importantly when we return we know he has been well cared for because of how he interacts with us. He has quality play time and stimulation. If you are thinking about booking Christi do it! You won't regret it!

We’ve been working with Lisa for a long time, and she is absolutely amazing. She always goes the extra mile, is incredibly caring, and even brings our dogs little gifts. She sends regular pictures that give us great peace of mind, and you can see how excited our dogs are to see her. We fully trust Lisa and will definitely continue working with her. Highly recommend!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Albany. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
