We have had Christina stay at our house and care for or Aussiedoodle multiple times. She is the best! We ask a lot of her because our dog has separation anxiety and can’t be left alone. I never have to worry about anything when we are on vacation. She takes amazing care of everything and gives updates! Will continue to use her!

This is the first time I had someone stay in my home to care for Chica. Alexys was great. She came by the house the day before we were leaving for a meet and greet. She arrived on time, stayed one night overnight, washed the sheets and made the bed. That was above and beyond. And Chica was happy. I would definitely use Alexys again and recommend her to anyone need pet sitting/walking services.

About: As a fur parent I know how important it is to receive updates and reliable pet care. I make sure to communicate as frequently as you’d like! I have experience with dogs, cats, and farm animals. If you want frequent updates….I gotcha. Pictures…no sweat. I’d love to help. I’m clean, communicative, responsible, and flexible. I'm here for your summer travels, last minute walks, and house-sitting needs seven days a week with flexibility to help accommodate your schedule. I have an apartment with two cats I fostered and adopted. I love to love on animals and know how important it is to find trust worthy help. I previously worked at an animal sanctuary where I cared for goats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and cats. I take time to get to know each animal so that they feel comfortable and loved. I’m not currently caring for animals at my place right now. But I’d love to house sit or complete drop-ins for you to take good care of your babies.

About: I am a lifelong animal lover providing dependable, attentive care. I treat every pet like family while respecting their unique routines, personalities, and comfort needs. As a licensed esthetician, I’m naturally patient, detail-oriented and committed to creating a calm, clean, and comfortable environment. I understand how important routines are, so I take the time to learn each pet’s individual needs and personality. I have experience caring for my own cats, as well as pet sitting for family and friends’ dogs and cats, including feeding, walks, playtime, administering medication, overnight care, potty breaks, and litter box cleaning. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I currently work 3–4 days a week as a licensed esthetician at Glowbar in Rittenhouse, with shifts typically starting around 2:30 PM, though my schedule can vary slightly week to week. Because of this, I have consistent availability in the mornings, earlier afternoons and on my days off to dedicate to pet care services like walks and drop-ins when needed. I’m very organized and intentional about managing my time, so I’m able to plan my pet care bookings around my work schedule to ensure each pet gets my full attention and care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my priority is to maintain their normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while their owner is away. I take the time to follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk routines, litter box care, playtime, and any specific preferences the pet may have. I approach each visit with patience, calm energy, and attention to detail. I understand that pets can be sensitive to change, so I move at their pace and focus on building trust so they feel secure with me. I also treat my clients’ homes with the same respect I would my own. I keep everything clean and organized, make sure doors are secured, and always leave the space as I found it. I’m very mindful of safety, including checking water bowls, ensuring pets are comfortable before leaving, and giving updates so owners feel reassured while they’re away. My goal is always to make both the pet and the owner feel completely at ease and genuinely cared for.

About: I bring a strong veterinary background to pet sitting, with 4 years of vet tech school and 4 years of hands-on experience working as a vet tech. I’m comfortable caring for both cats and dogs of all ages, from playful puppies to senior pets who may need a little extra patience and care. Because of my experience, I’m confident with things like giving medications, monitoring health and behavior, and following detailed care instructions. I know what’s normal vs. what might need attention, which helps keep pets safe and gives owners peace of mind. I also understand that every pet has their own routine and personality. I focus on keeping things as familiar and stress-free as possible, whether that’s sticking to feeding schedules, giving calm overnight care, or spending extra time with shy or anxious pets. I send regular photo updates and treat every pet and home with the same care and respect I’d want for my own. Pet care fits naturally into my routine. I work full-time Monday through Friday, so I plan pet care around early mornings, evenings after work, overnights, and weekends. This makes me a great fit for overnight stays, weekend care, and travel bookings. On weekdays, I’m available for evening walks, feedings, playtime, and medication after work, and I can provide overnight care starting in the evening through the morning. On weekends, I have much more flexibility and can dedicate extended time to pet care, including multiple visits, longer walks, and full overnight stays. I’m very organized and plan ahead to make sure each pet’s routine is followed closely. Whether it’s caring for cats, dogs, or pets with special needs, I make sure they get consistent attention, affection, and proper care built into my daily schedule. I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable and stress-free. Before each booking, I make sure I understand feeding schedules, walk routines, medication needs, and any special instructions. In a client’s home, I focus on keeping pets comfortable in their familiar environment. I handle feeding, walks, playtime, litter box care, medications if needed, and overnight supervision. I’m very respectful of clients’ homes and make sure everything is kept clean and secure. I also send regular photo and text updates so owners know how their pets are doing. When caring for pets in my home, I provide a calm, safe environment with plenty of attention, exercise, and downtime. I monitor behavior closely, keep pets separated if needed, and stick to their routine as much as possible. With my background in veterinary medicine, I’m comfortable caring for both cats and dogs, including puppies, senior pets, and those with medical needs. Safety, consistency, and communication are always my top priorities.

We used Ari for 5 days for our dog Freddy , we had a destination wedding for my sister who was getting married and we interviewed with Ari in oct and we had a meet up with him and Freddy to just make sure he would be able to watch him for 5 days in our home because our Fred is comfortable in his own home and Ari has no problem accommodating and staying with him each night at our home. He was attentive and communicative lending up to his arrival day and while we were on vacation he made sure to send update and answer and of my million calls just to check in on our dog. I made sure to ask Ari if he wanted any food stocked in the house for himself to have while he was here and his only request was simple just lemonade . Once arriving home today our Freddy was as happy as can be our house looked the exact way we left it and we are already in talks to have him back again in May for our Mexico Trip !!! I can not recommend Ari enough to anyone who is looking for a dog sitter for a vacation trip or wedding or just to walk your dog !! We provide him also with a tip via Apple Pay for him because of him going above and beyond for our Freddy and for us .

FAQs for House Sitting - Melrose Park

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Melrose Park on Rover is $88.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 5,782 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Melrose Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melrose Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melrose Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melrose Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Melrose Park. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
