About: I grew up showing chickens through 4H and riding horses. I have fostered kittens and trained my dog to do agility. i absolutely love bonding with animals and they’ve always been such an important part of who I am. I promise you I will take the best care of your sweet pets! I am in California temporarily for winter time as I am a College student from another state. I am looking to work whenever/as needed! ! When I have pet sit/house sit in the past, I spend a lot of time bonding with the pets and making them feel safe and not alone. I am flexible when it comes to stopping by to check on them or living in to take care of them. I love giving out treats and playing but of course it’s up to you as to what I’d be allowed to do!
“Chandi was wonderful. The communication was of upmost importance for me. Chandi was very responsive to my messages and kept me updated on how my fur babies were doing. I am very happy that I found her and I look forward to having her sit with my babies in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Maddie is amazing she took perfect care of our cat and Golden Retriever and did lots of extra little things for us, including taking care of our dogs persistent skin rash. Can't say enough good things about her!!”
“Leigh was absolutely wonderful and I am very confident in recommending her to take care of your furry family members. I recently moved to the area and was very stressed out about finding a new dog sitter. It’s quite a leap of faith to invite someone you don’t know to stay in your home with your pets for the first time. Leigh was very attentive to both of my pups and kept me updated on how they were doing. She also very last minute stayed over an extra night when my flight home got cancelled and still checked in on them the next afternoon when flight delays continuously kept me from getting home. I am very grateful that I found Leigh!”

“We had a last minute need for an in home pet sitter for our 1 year old BC, who has separation anxiety, and our 12 yo BC. Tyler came to our rescue and was incredibly professional, communicative, and knowledgeable about dogs with high needs. He immediately established a calm and comforting rapport with our young, anxious pup and provided wonderful care for her first full day alone with a stranger as well as our senior. Our girls had some complex needs regarding management and he followed all of our requests to ensure their safety and comfort. I would absolutely recommend Tyler for in home pet care. We look forward to using his services again in the future!”

“Stella was wonderful!! Our two dogs felt so comfortable with her, they didn’t even bark when she first came in the yard at their first meeting of her. Stella was thoughtful, responsible & easy to communicate with. We came home to relaxed dogs & cat. That means their experience with Stella was great!”

“Alex was a great sitter. Very smooth communication and she went above and beyond. Enzo was very happy and relaxed when I got home, house was clean and tidy. I will definitely book again!”

About: With years of hands on experience working and volunteering at animal shelters since high school, I bring a deep understanding of pet care and behavior to every sitting experience. I’ve had the privilege of caring for a wide variety of animals, which has given me the skills to adapt to the unique needs of every pet. Currently, I share my home with Sally, a 5-year-old Domestic Short Hair tabby who I adopted in 2024. She is the light of my life and reminds me daily of the importance of love, patience, and attentive care when it comes to our furry companions. Special Skills • Shelter Experience: Years of volunteer and work experience in shelters have equipped me to handle animals with diverse backgrounds and needs, from shy rescues to high-energy pets. • Multi-Species Expertise: Having cared for a variety of pets, I am comfortable with dogs, cats, and more exotic companions. • Behavioral Insight: Skilled in understanding and managing pet behaviors, including those of rescues or pets with anxiety. • Personalized Care: I believe every pet deserves individualized attention and make it my priority to ensure they feel loved and secure. I treat every pet I care for as if they were my own, providing the same love and attention I give to my dear Sally. With me, your pet will receive exceptional care and companionship. I am currently a very recent college graduate student who has full availability on the weekends and weekday availability depending on the time(s) requested. My schedule currently consist of work 5 days a week (any changes in my schedule will be noted). When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their normal routine as closely as possible. I respect their space and follow all instructions regarding feeding schedules, exercise, playtime, and any special needs or medications. I ensure your home remains tidy and secure during my visits and keep you updated with regular messages or photos to provide peace of mind. Whether it’s spending extra time playing with an energetic pet or offering a calm, reassuring presence for a shy one, I adapt my approach to suit their personality and preferences.
“Junny is a professional who takes notes on how to work with your pets. We have two large unneutered male dogs, and Junny took extra time to ensure our training continued, giving our dogs the consistency they need. He is great with his communication and sends wonderful photos that are frame worthy. He left our home clean and our pets happy. I would highly recommend Junny and Jomhel to sit your pets.”

About: I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes and ages, as well as animals that take daily medication. I’m very good when it comes to applying the owners needs with consistency and lots of attention for their pets. I babysit part time and I have dog sitting clients outside of Rover as well. My schedule is very flexible and so it’s easier for me to meet new clients and their pets! I always make sure to ask my clients if there’s any additional info that I need to know. I’m a very aware and attentive person, that’s why I keep a good eye on the pets body language and everyday needs. Keeping up with their schedule is another important detail to me.
“Stari did a great job with our dogs Frida and buddy and took good care of our home and garden. She also kept in touch with many pictures of the doggies and was quick to respond to messages during our trip!”
“Halley took tremendous care of my little high energy guy for 4 days while I traveled for work. I’m forever grateful for the kindness, grace, and thoughtfulness she gave. I would supremely recommend her and wouldn’t hesitate to request her again!”

“Bailey dog sat my special girl who has separation anxiety during a chaotic time in our lives, as we were relocating homes. She gave my dog the company and comfort she needed while I moved our belongings. I would recommend Bailey to care for your pooch!”

“We were excited to find a dog and house sitter in our same neighborhood. Zach sent photos of our dog and was highly responsive and respectful of our home. We will be reaching out in the future for more dog/house sitting. Thank you Zach!”

“Scott took excellent care of our adorable but stubborn young Yorkie “Milo” while we travelled to England for about 2 weeks. Upon return Milo looked at me as if to ask, “Who are you? You’re vaguely familiar but I can’t quite remember.” But then he burst into squeals of joy, jumping up and down. To us, this kind of greeting when arriving back home is good testimony confirming Milo’s happiness with Scott as his career. Scott emphasized the importance of Milo eating actual doggy food and using his doggy door to go “outside potty” Outside Potty has been a dim concept to Milo until now. Scott swears Milo had no accidents when we were away. The way he sniffs the rush woven containers in the living room make me doubt that some BUT he has been NOTICEABLY better about his potty training these last few days than before the trip. Without leaving full written pet and house instructions for Scott before we left as we should have and intended, Scott did a remarkable job caring for Milo, emphasizing his training and exercise needs and safeguarding our home. Scott is always prompt, fantastically pleasant, clever and appears extremely caring to his charge. He always wears a smile, communicates well and is very easy to deal with. Without hesitation we’d be eager and happy to employ Scott’s services again. We felt our precious dog child was in safe, caring and attentive hands as was our property as well. Finding Rover and Scott has been a super experience for our family.”

About: Animals have always brought me a lot of joy. I grew up with and have taken care of dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles, and amphibians, so I am well acquainted with many types of creatures! I have cared for newborn kittens, as well as senior dogs and cats. Due to my background as a veterinary technician and wildlife caretaker, I am very comfortable with animals who require medical care or have higher needs in general. I am familiar with giving medications, shots, cleaning and grooming, and overall behavior indicators of well-being. I also assisted in surgeries, where I prepped the supplies, took vitals, and monitored the pet's health while under anesthesia. While I hope no family has to endure the hardship that comes with an ill or elderly pet, it does happen. Whether you are planning a trip away or just need some assistance, I would be happy to care for your fur baby and hope to meet them soon. I currently have a cat and three chickens who I love a lot. So unfortunately, I cannot board any pets at my home. I have a remote job, so am flexible with home stays, walks, feeding schedules, and anything else to keep your friend happy. I always first consider the pets' and my safety. In my own home, I have spent the last 4 years helping my cat overcome her traumatic past through patience and routine. I give her lots of treats and mental stimulation, such as finding new items for her to bat around and sit on. We also have chickens, which have a fully fenced backyard so they can roam. I also love spoiling them with watermelon, apples, and mealworms!
“Bailey was wonderful as always!! This was the longest we’ve been away from our pet family, having her take care of them made our trip all the more relaxing!! She’s so reliable and responsible, we greatly appreciate the love she has for our pets and could not have asked for a better sitter. Thank you so much!!!”

“Deanna truly went above and beyond for our pets. She was professional, knowledgeable, and consistently communicative—sending us frequent updates and photos throughout our trip. When our pup needed a vet appointment, Deanna handled everything, from the visit itself to the after‑care and prescription pick‑up. Knowing she was looking after our animals gave us complete peace of mind. We highly recommend Deanna to anyone seeking a reliable, caring pet sitter.”

Leigh was absolutely wonderful and I am very confident in recommending her to take care of your furry family members. I recently moved to the area and was very stressed out about finding a new dog sitter. It’s quite a leap of faith to invite someone you don’t know to stay in your home with your pets for the first time. She also very last minute stayed over an extra night when my flight home got cancelled and still checked in on them the next afternoon when flight delays continuously kept me from getting home. I am very grateful that I found Leigh!

Bailey watched our border collie/heeler mix Huck for 10 days and we were very happy with our experience with her. She provided updates on their activities, followed our written instructions, and we came home to a healthy and happy pup and a clean house! We definitely recommend Bailey as a sitter.

I can trust that my pets and home are in the best hands with Maddie. She's very in tune with each of the animals. She's recommended some high-quality care products that I've purchased and found to be extremely beneficial for my furkids' health and quality of life. I highly recommend Maddie for pet and home sitting.

Chandi was wonderful. The communication was of upmost importance for me. Chandi was very responsive to my messages and kept me updated on how my fur babies were doing. I am very happy that I found her and I look forward to having her sit with my babies in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mia is so wonderful! Our dog Huck typically gets pretty sad when we go out of town, but he instantly fell in love with Mia. We had a meet and greet and we could tell right away she was an animal lover, and Huck knew that too! Mia stayed at our house with Huck while we were away for a long weekend and she not only loved and snuggled him, but our house was spotless upon our return home. We so appreciated her caring for our fur baby and our home while we were away! She sent us photos and we were able to enjoy our time knowing Mia was watching over Huck and taking such good care of him. We will absolutely be using her again in the future!

Carter was very personable and obviously loves dogs. He was willing to come by our house twice before the actual petsit, to get lined out on the alarm system, feeding and care instructions. He took our dog for walks and sent photos. He did have to work on two of the days, so our dog was left alone longer than we would have liked.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McKinleyville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McKinleyville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McKinleyville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
