“Jade did a great job taking care of our animals and plants while we were away for a week. They went above and beyond and very responsive and communication. Would recommend and have them again!”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets ever since I was a young girl and knew my life would be dedicated to them. I then became a vet tech in 2018 and have loved being able to take care of them medically as well. I have gained so much knowledge of healthcare and husbandry ranging from puppies/kittens to seniors of all kinds of breeds and personalities to give your fur baby the best. I’m very familiar with most health conditions and comfortable with all medications(oral/injection) I am also responsive and prepared when health concerns or even emergencies come up. I have my own vet tech kit to treat minor injuries and illnesses but will always seek the appropriate medical care if necessary.I am also happy to provide basic grooming like bathing brushing and even nail trims ( all if they are comfortable with it) free of charge if requested. Your pet will be in the most excellent hands, I will always do everything in my power to keep them safe happy and healthy and I will love spending time with them. I am very professional reliable and you can rest easy knowing your pets are in my care and I will always keep you updated. I cannot wait to meet you and your pets as they will be treated like my own ( royal treatment for sure 👑) I’m just taking relief shifts as a vet tech currently and have a flexible schedule for pet sitting. When I’m taking care of your pets they are my number one priority. I will always care for your pets as my own and will always do everything I can to make sure they are comfortable happy and safe. I spoil my senior dog Curley and I always do the same for you pups no doubt. I always check in for mental and physical wellness 24/7 and make adjustments as needed.
“Anna was an absolutely wonderful sitter for my two cats! She sent a minimum of 15 photos per each visit, sent videos, and detailed updates. She was always there to respond to my questions. I felt at ease with her watching my fur babies :) Very communicative and kind too, I really cannot recommend her enough. Thank you Anna!”

About: I grew up showing chickens through 4H and riding horses. I have fostered kittens and trained my dog to do agility. i absolutely love bonding with animals and they’ve always been such an important part of who I am. I promise you I will take the best care of your sweet pets! I am in California temporarily for winter time as I am a College student from another state. I am looking to work whenever/as needed! ! When I have pet sit/house sit in the past, I spend a lot of time bonding with the pets and making them feel safe and not alone. I am flexible when it comes to stopping by to check on them or living in to take care of them. I love giving out treats and playing but of course it’s up to you as to what I’d be allowed to do!
“Stari is awesome. She’s very responsive and thorough. We had a cat recovering from an injury while we were away, and she did an excellent job keeping an eye in him and keeping us informed about his progress. This is the third time we’ve booked Stari and will happily book her again.”

“Jessy gave us wonderful updates on our little fur baby, followed all the care instructions, and made us feel like our bunny was safe and cared for while we were away. Thank you so much Jessy, you’re the absolute best!! 😊”

“Rachel is quick to respond, punctual, and great with the cats! She was able to administer oral medication and followed directions well. She had a very calming energy and got my shy cat to come out on her own and feel comfortable. I’m very happy with the care she provided my fur babies on short notice.”

“Bailey is truly a gem! She cared for our two reactive, mostly untrained dogs and our cat over a weekend away, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience—especially as first-time Rover users. She walked the dogs daily, sent us regular photo updates, and made us feel so at ease while we were gone. On her second stay, we had some unexpected behavior issues with one of our rescue dogs, who managed to dart out the door (not her fault at all—he’s a handful!). Bailey stayed longer than expected to make sure everything was under control before she left. Her calm, caring presence and quick communication gave us so much peace of mind. She is incredibly responsible, responsive, and clearly loves animals. We’ll be booking Bailey every time she’s available. I would give a million stars if the app allowed it! Highly, highly recommend!”

About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.

“Jessica was great. She was punctual and dependable. She seemed to really enjoy animals and was very patient with my kids during our meet and greet. I would recommend her to anyone.”

About: Experienced and flexible. Well reviewed! Happy to provide references. I volunteered at Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary all through my High School years in Austin TX. There isn't much I can't handle but I'm also aware dogs can have different personalities and different needs. I'd love to cater to your pet specifically! I am 100% self employed, and a part time stay-at-home pet/ plant dad! I'd love to make time to care for your pets as well! Obviously your pets are top priority but please let me know what I can do to keep your home safe and sound as well :)
About: My family has two rescues of our own, one of which has allergies and special care needs that I attend to. I also have experience caring for and working with senior dogs. I love dogs of all sizes and energy levels. I’m largely free over the summer until I return to college at Humboldt in the fall. I only have a few weeks in late June/July where I’ll be gone, working as a camp counselor. I focus on high-quality care for each and every pet. I’m attentive to their needs, as well as their safety, and maintaining cleanliness in clients’ homes.

Ax was an excellent sitter for our cat while we were out of town for two weeks—he really went above and beyond in looking after both our cat and our house. We got an update and photos everyday, and I know our cat was so happy to get some attention and affection everyday while we were gone. Ax was attentive to our cat’s needs, cleaned up a vomit incident, and when our cat knocked a picture frame off a shelf and shattered it, he handled the situation skillfully and professionally. I had great peace of mind knowing that Ax was going to check on our cat each day, and I would highly recommend him to anyone else looking for a cat or pet sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McKinleyville. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
