About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.

I ran my own dog walking business as a sole proprietor for many years, and also have worked as an independent contractor for other dog walking & pet sitting companies. In the past, I've cared for many different animals of varying ages and breeds; from puppies and kittens to seniors. I have plenty of experience administering medication for animals who need it, whether it be ear/eye drops, pills, and insulin injections. I also have experience caring for small and furry (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs) as well as scaly (fish, snakes, turtles). I do appreciate advance bookings, but will do my best to fit you in! Your pet is a member of your family, so it is important to me that your pal feels loved and cared for while you are away. I travel to you and I am not currently available for boarding in my home.

I am a writer who works from home, so I can commit to spending plenty of quality time with your pup, going on walks or hanging out at home. I’m also happily to take them to the dog park once in a while if that’s something your pup enjoys. I have a fenced yard and a dog of my own. Bhalu is a 14-year-old lab mix who will be overjoyed to meet your pup for approximate 5 minutes, after which he will lose interest and go off to do his own thing.
