About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.
“Our pets love Stella! She is very communicative with frequent photo check-ins and she treats our home and our pets with the best care. We’ve had her sit for us before and will definitely be reaching out to her again whenever we need a sitter.”

About: With years of hands on experience working and volunteering at animal shelters since high school, I bring a deep understanding of pet care and behavior to every sitting experience. I’ve had the privilege of caring for a wide variety of animals, which has given me the skills to adapt to the unique needs of every pet. Currently, I share my home with Sally, a 5-year-old Domestic Short Hair tabby who I adopted a few months ago. She is the light of my life and reminds me daily of the importance of love, patience, and attentive care when it comes to our furry companions. Special Skills • Shelter Experience: Years of volunteer and work experience in shelters have equipped me to handle animals with diverse backgrounds and needs, from shy rescues to high-energy pets. • Multi-Species Expertise: Having cared for a variety of pets, I am comfortable with dogs, cats, and more exotic companions. • Behavioral Insight: Skilled in understanding and managing pet behaviors, including those of rescues or pets with anxiety. • Personalized Care: I believe every pet deserves individualized attention and make it my priority to ensure they feel loved and secure. I treat every pet I care for as if they were my own, providing the same love and attention I give to my dear Sally. With me, your pet will receive exceptional care and companionship. I am currently a very recent college graduate student who has full availability on the weekends and weekday availability depending on the time(s) requested. My schedule currently consist of work 5 days a week (any changes in my schedule will be noted). When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their normal routine as closely as possible. I respect their space and follow all instructions regarding feeding schedules, exercise, playtime, and any special needs or medications. I ensure your home remains tidy and secure during my visits and keep you updated with regular messages or photos to provide peace of mind. Whether it’s spending extra time playing with an energetic pet or offering a calm, reassuring presence for a shy one, I adapt my approach to suit their personality and preferences.

About: I grew up with and have taken care of dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, birds, horses, reptiles, and amphibians, so I am well acquainted with many types of creatures! I was also a veterinary technician and wildlife caretaker, so am familiar with giving medications, shots, cleaning and grooming, and overall behavior indicators of wellbeing. I have cared for newborn kittens, and senior dogs and cats. Animals have always brought me a lot of joy and I hope to meet your fur baby soon! I currently have a cat and three chickens who I love a lot. So unfortunately, I cannot board any pets at my home. I have a remote job, so am flexible with home stays, walks, feeding schedules, and anything else to keep your friend happy. I always first consider the pets' and my safety. In my own home, I have spent the last 4 years helping my cat overcome her traumatic past through patience and routine. I give her lots of treats and mental stimulation, such as finding new items for her to bat around and sit on. We also have chickens, which have a fully fenced backyard so they can roam. I also love spoiling them with watermelon, apples, and mealworms!
“Maddie is amazing she took perfect care of our cat and Golden Retriever and did lots of extra little things for us, including taking care of our dogs persistent skin rash. Can't say enough good things about her!!”

About: I am a long time animal lover and have been working in pet care for over 25 years professionally. I have ample experience with dog walking and overnight pet sitting. I ran my own dog walking business as a sole proprietor for many years, and also have worked as an independent contractor for other dog walking & pet sitting companies. In the past, I've cared for many different animals of varying ages and breeds; from puppies and kittens to seniors. I have plenty of experience administering medication for animals who need it, whether it be ear/eye drops, pills, and insulin injections. I also have experience caring for small and furry (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs) as well as scaly (fish, snakes, turtles). I'm responsible, caring, and punctual, and I genuinely care about providing great service to you and your pet. I am looking forward to meeting your furry (or scaly) friend! My schedule is fairly flexible and I will accept bookings Mon-Sun from 8am to 5pm. I prefer to do an free consultation with your dog before you book your first walk. I do appreciate advance bookings, but will do my best to fit you in! Your pet is a member of your family, so it is important to me that your pal feels loved and cared for while you are away. I travel to you and I am not currently available for boarding in my home.
About: I have over four years of experience working at a doggie daycare, where I've cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. Through this experience, I've developed a strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, and common health concerns. I have experience working with puppies, senior dogs, reactive dogs, and dogs with special medical needs, including administering medications and monitoring for signs of illness or discomfort. Caring for animals is my passion, and I take pride in providing patient, attentive, and individualized care for every pet. Whether it's helping a puppy learn good habits, making sure a senior dog is comfortable, or giving extra attention to a nervous or reactive dog, I always prioritize each animal's safety and well-being. I am currently working on weekends, but I am available throughout the week. I am happy to care for your pet mornings, afternoons, and nights. I believe in providing a safe, enriching environment where dogs can be dogs. I love letting dogs explore on walks, sniff to their heart's content, play, and enjoy new experiences while always prioritizing their safety and comfort. I also understand that every dog is different; some thrive with more freedom, while others need structure, routine, and reinforcement of their training. I take the time to learn each pet's needs and follow the owner's preferences to ensure consistency, trust, and a positive experience for both the pet and their family.
“Miranda was amazing! She had great communication, was very detailed and diligent, followed our labor intensive instructions and asked clarifying questions. We highly recommend her!”

“Stari was amazing with our dogs. We have one difficult dog and Stari was great with her. She stayed and watched our house, took the dogs out on walks around the neighborhood and to the beach, and most importantly took really good care of our dogs. She sent photos and they were always content and happy! I would highly recommend her to watch your pets! Thanks Stari”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life. Ever since I was a kid, I was jumping up to wash the dogs, train the dogs, walk the dogs- everything! I’m a full time college student. During the day, I will need to attend class. I also attend Natural Resources club on Saturday mornings. However, I am fully available during the rest of the week! I treat all pets with respect and kindness. I’ve had reactive dogs and extremely friendly dogs, so I’m well versed in any reactions pets may have to me. I can crate dogs, feed dogs, play with dogs, walk them, and even bathe them if needed!

Bailey watched our border collie/heeler mix Huck for 10 days and we were very happy with our experience with her. She provided updates on their activities, followed our written instructions, and we came home to a healthy and happy pup and a clean house! We definitely recommend Bailey as a sitter.

I can trust that my pets and home are in the best hands with Maddie. She's very in tune with each of the animals. She's recommended some high-quality care products that I've purchased and found to be extremely beneficial for my furkids' health and quality of life. I highly recommend Maddie for pet and home sitting.

Halley was so wonderful! She stayed with our tripod jazz all day and sent so many photos. She made sure to get him the right amount of exercise and take him on beautiful walks in his stroller. She arrived on time and was so caring. We will definitely hire her again! Jazz approved!

Chandi was wonderful. The communication was of upmost importance for me. Chandi was very responsive to my messages and kept me updated on how my fur babies were doing. I am very happy that I found her and I look forward to having her sit with my babies in the future. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ezra was the best dog and apartment sitter we could’ve asked for. I didn’t have to worry about my pup because I knew Ezra was taking care of her. She sent photo updates, always responded, and handled complications like a pro. She is lovely, and I will definitely come back to Ezra if I need dog sitting or dog walking again :)

Mia is so wonderful! Our dog Huck typically gets pretty sad when we go out of town, but he instantly fell in love with Mia. We had a meet and greet and we could tell right away she was an animal lover, and Huck knew that too! Mia stayed at our house with Huck while we were away for a long weekend and she not only loved and snuggled him, but our house was spotless upon our return home. We so appreciated her caring for our fur baby and our home while we were away! She sent us photos and we were able to enjoy our time knowing Mia was watching over Huck and taking such good care of him. We will absolutely be using her again in the future!

Negin was an excellent cat-sitter - prompt, responsible, attentive to detail, a good communicator with cats and humans alike. She immediately vibed with our eccentric kitties and won their trust. We returned to happy cats and a clean house. Many thanks, Negin!

FAQs for House Sitting - Tyee City
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Tyee City on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 159 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Tyee City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tyee City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tyee City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tyee City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
