Dog Walking Lower East Side

About: I grew up in a house full of animals, especially retired racing greyhounds, and volunteered for years with Maine Greyhound Placement Service before moving to New York. I’m comfortable with everything from puppies to seniors, shy or anxious dogs, health issues and giving medication. I’ve also always had adopted cats, so I’m just as happy with cats as I am with dogs. I joined Rover because I genuinely miss having animals around all the time. My work schedule is flexible for daytime walks and drop-ins, and I’m generally free on weekends too. I have a flexible schedule most of the week and can usually fit in daytime walks, drop-ins or check-ins, with especially open availability on weekends. I live in a quiet, pet-friendly building directly across from a park, with Tompkins Square Dog Run also within walking distance if your dog enjoys socializing. If they’re more comfortable somewhere calmer, I also know plenty of quieter streets and walking routes nearby!

About: I have experience with many different types of animals from farm animals to pets and disabled animals. Since I moved to NYC 6 years ago I’ve been pet sitting and loving every minute of it. I work part-time night shifts, so I have a lot of time during the day to check in on your pets, walk them, or watch them. I have a kitten myself! We have a cat tree, many toys, and separate rooms if needed for separation of care within my home. I’m also happy to stay over with a pet!

About: DOG EXPERIENCE: I have been a supportive and loyal dog auntie for 7+ years to many of my closest friends! I have brought their dogs to my home, boarded at theirs, and provided ad hoc walking assistance and play sessions whenever needed for them. CAT EXPERIENCE: I am a lifelong cat parent! I had 2 cats growing up, both of which lived 10+ years with me in my childhood home! After moving to New York, my roommate and I co-parented her cat during our time together until she whisked him away to his permanent vacation home in SF. After moving into my own apartment, I adopted a 1 year old Tuxie who was FELV+. Caring for a cat with special health issues taught me how to be deeply attuned to appetite changes, litter habits, hydration, anxiety, etc. I also developed special skills such as administering various types of medications. While he unfortunately succumbed to his illness last year, I was able to adopt 2 three month old kitten siblings from the same shelter! I have learned through them the dynamics between male vs. female behaviors, post-surgery care with their spay and neuter, and navigating their growth spurts and the varying energy levels of young kittens. I have grown to truly understand what cats need most to thrive in their environments: routines, consistent play time and enrichment, reassurance, and just someone to feel fully safe with. What really drives me to pursue pet sitting is that I have had past experiences with sitters looking after my own pets that have not been satisfying, and since then I’ve been committed to providing support that is punctual and to a tee to the instructions given. I am primarily available on weekends Friday - Sunday at any given time needed starting from 6AM to as late as 11PM. There is flexibility on Mondays through Thursdays post 6PM based on the service required I understand how crucial it is to abide by your pets’ regular routine to a tee. New people are already anxiety-inducing and stressful for them as it is! When it comes to my own cats, I feed them 3x a day by my own hand, with snacks set up on an auto feeder twice a day. Cats need at least 30 mins of enrichment and novelty a day, so I typically play with them and introduce something new in the mornings and at night right before bed. I scoop their litter box 3x a day as well. I can also assist with any grooming needs such a nail clipping, teeth brushing, etc. For dogs, I have always walked them 3x a day for my friends and given at least 10 mins of playtime post walks.

About: I grew up with dogs in my household - mainly larger dogs - and love everything about them! When going to college, I continued caring for dogs by volunteering at the "Puppy Kindergarten" and the local animal shelter. At both places I walked the pups and, with the "Kindergarten" I had them stay overnight in my apartment. I just graduated from college and moved into the city this summer. I am starting my job full time in October, but looking to stay busy and get more dog time! I lived in NYC for 10 years growing up and know how to navigate the busy streets and parks with dogs. Additionally, volunteering at the animal shelter helped prepare me to take care of and walk dogs of all sizes and personalities!

About: Hi! I’m Esther - a lifelong animal lover who’s raised dogs from high school through adulthood and now has a pup of my own. I know firsthand how much trust it takes to leave your fur baby with someone new, and I care for every pet with the same patience, gentleness, and consistency I give my own. Over the years, I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, temperaments, and little quirks - from shy rescues to playful puppies to senior sweethearts who need extra support. I’m attentive to animal body language and emotional needs, and I always take the time to make sure each pet feels safe, comfortable, and understood. I work remotely with a flexible schedule, so I can reliably drop in throughout the day - rain or shine - to keep your pet’s routine consistent. Whether your fur baby needs walks, meals, medication, enrichment time, or just extra cuddles, I’m happy to tailor my care to exactly what they need. Safety and cleanliness are extremely important to me. I always refresh water bowls, follow feeding routines closely, and make sure everything is secure before I leave. If you let me know where your trash can and cleaning supplies are, I’m more than happy to clean up any little “oopsies.” I can also vacuum or sweep up any litter that adventurous kitties might track around - whatever helps keep your home tidy and your pets comfortable. I also keep a close eye on pets at all times and send updates, photos, or videos so you always feel connected and at ease while you’re away.

About: I’ve worked at a dog daycare for 2 years and have been walking dogs for about 10 years now. At the daycare I stood with dogs overnight, walked them, fed them, administered medications and gave them lots of love and attention. Made sure they were ok, weren’t fighting or getting into any trouble. I also have my animal handling certificate. I had a Rottweiler for 11 years who I had to put down due to her having stomach cancer. It broke my heart because I considered her family. I’ve had 4 cats as well and a few other animals. I love all animals and believe they are more than animals they are family. They deserve to be treated as such and not any different. I work from home so I’m available majority of the day to walk and check in on dogs in the area. I am able to feed them, play with them and administer any medication, eye drops, ear drops, etc if necessary. I usually let animals roam free in my home and keep things that may harm them in places they are unable to get into. They are free to be on furniture and roam as they please. I run my own businesses and I am able set my own schedule which makes it very flexible. I can work with your schedule if needed. In my home I make sure there is nothing around that can harm the animal or make them sick of eaten. I make sure there is space for them to roam and keep any foods they are allergic too where they can’t get to them. In their home same rules apply I also follow any directions given by the pet parent to avoid any injury, harm or damage to the pet or anything in the household.
