“Mark was incredible…he did overnight stays with our 11 year old blind, deaf pup without any hesitation. He is a great communicator and left the house in perfect condition. As this was a new arrangement, he asked questions to make sure something wasn’t out of the ordinary for our extraordinary pup, which I appreciate as he has truly had only 1 sitter in nearly 11 years! I cannot recommend him enough and we are actively booking out the rest of the year with him!”

“Oli took such great care of our pup and house! We loved the updates and really appreciated Oli’s wonderful communication! We always know Maddie (and the house) is in the best hands with Oli when we are away!!”

About: Since I was 12, I have been walking a plethora of dogs of varying breeds, ages, and weights, ranging from 15 pounds to 100 pounds. I have also watched many cats, varying in age from a few weeks to 18 years old. I can give medication in food, pill pockets, and pill poppers. My schedule is pretty wide open, as I am free most days from the hours of 9 - 5 to visit your animals and walk dogs! I am very friendly with animals and am pleased to have them in my care during walks and visits. Their safety is always my top concern.
“Helen watch after my dog Nadia for a weekend away and it went great! This was my first time using an in home pet sitter so I was not sure what to expect! She kept me updated on how things were going with pictures, which helped ease any anxiety I may have had! And was the perfect house guest leaving the house in better shape than I left it in! Will definitely be using Helen for future needs if she is available!”

“My husband and I are new to the Stafford, VA area, and we felt SO comfortable with Emily caring for our fur babes for the week while we left town. We met beforehand, and you can easily tell she's a caring human. She was such a wonderful communicator, sending pictures, videos, and updates, and she's very kind and respectful, and we felt so at ease knowing she was with our little doggies. This was our first time doing the house sitting, so we weren't sure if it would work well, but it was so much more comforting knowing we had a trustworthy, kind soul with our fur babes instead of them going to a kennel/boarding facility. She also left the house just as we had left it for her! Very clean and tidy! We would highly recommend Emily!! We are forever grateful for her!”

“Anna was super thorough and patient in the meet and greet with our dog, who can sometimes be overly energetic and anxious. She is detail oriented and super responsible, and updated us throughout the stay and Beanie seemed calm and content when we returned. Thanks, Anna!”

“Marissa did an absolutely fabulous job of taking care of our two "elderly" greyhounds for a week. She made them comfortable and secure by sticking to their routine and gave them lots of love. She sent pictures and gave us regular updates and was very responsive to any questions that we had so we never had to wonder what was going on. I would highly recommend Marissa!!”

“We have used Daniel several times now and he continues to be a wonderful dog and house sitter! We always know that Hank will be well taken care of and our home will be as well! Can’t recommend him enough!”

“Sidney was so gentle and loving to our shy kitty! Bambino took to her immediately and when we came home, he was a happy clam as if we hadn’t even been away! We would 100% recommend her and will be booking her again for our future getaways 🥰. Thank you so much, Sidney!”

“Natalie was fantastic! She took great care of our three pets, kept us updated throughout our trip, and left our house spotless. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We’d absolutely book her again and highly recommend her!”

“Catherine was truly an angel, and I honestly don’t think we could have asked for a better sitter! She stayed with our two dogs for about a week while we were out of town, and during that time our air conditioning unexpectedly went out for two days. Instead of leaving or making it our problem, she handled everything with so much patience and grace, communicated with us throughout, and stayed with the dogs the entire time to make sure they were comfortable and cared for. She even coordinated with our landlord, who later told us she was the best house sitter/Rover he’d ever met - which says a lot! When we got home, our dogs were so happy, relaxed, and completely themselves. There was zero stress or adjustment period, and honestly, I don’t even think they missed us with Catherine around! 😂 She went so far above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, and it’s obvious she genuinely loves the animals she cares for. We would trust her with our home and our pups again in a heartbeat. If you’re considering booking Catherine, do it - you (and your pets) will be incredibly lucky to have her! 🙏🏼”

“We loved having Lauren stay with Millie. She made her feel comfortable and relaxed while we were out of town. Lauren kept in touch throughout the week with updates. We hope to have Lauren watch Millie again soon!”

“Emily is fantastic! After meeting, we were immediately put at ease with leaving our pups with them. Emily dealt with our high anxiety dog like a pro and reassured me all was well throughout the visit. Our pack can be a handful but Emily had no problems and went above and beyond for them. I cannot say enough positive things! We will most definitely be using Emily again. Highly recommend!”

“Celeste was great! They house sat for me and took care for my cats, sent me pictures and made sure they got attention, fed, and cleaned the litter box. Would definitely recommend them!”

“Tori is amazing! She communicates, sends pics, and never seems annoyed with me texting and asking how things were! 11/10 ⭐️ would definitely recommend and I will be booking again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Laurel Park
Jamie was absolutely amazing while staying overnight with our dog, Rudy. From the moment we met her, we felt confident that he was in great hands. She took exceptional care of him, kept him happy and comfortable, and treated him like one of her own. We really appreciated her attentiveness, reliability, and the peace of mind she gave us while we were away. It was clear that Rudy was well cared for and received plenty of attention and affection. We came home to a happy dog and a spotless house. We highly recommend Jamie to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and professional pet sitter. We would gladly book with her again!

Having Joe pet-sit for our pups honestly made our trip so much more enjoyable because we never had to worry about how they were doing. He kept us updated multiple times a day with photos, videos, and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind and made us feel like we were right there with them. It was obvious from the very first meeting that our pups loved him, and all the cuddle pictures he sent only confirmed it. What really stood out was how much he genuinely cared about their happiness and well-being, not just feeding and walking them. He also left our home spotless and even went above and beyond in ways we didn’t expect. One of our neighbors even told us she saw him walking the pups and was impressed by how easily he handled them, which says a lot because our two can definitely be a handful. We can’t recommend Joe enough, and we’re already planning our next trip knowing we’ll be asking him to watch the pups again.

Nikki was just simply the best! She was incredibly attentive, gave frequent updates and pictures (awesome pictures), and checked in often which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. We never once worried about our dogs or our home. She kept everything clean and tidy, and truly went above and beyond in every way. One of our dogs is very shy around new people, and she was so patient and kind that he completely warmed up to her. It was clear she genuinely cared for them like they were her own. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring pet sitter!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Laurel Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Laurel Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Laurel Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
