“Helen is AWESOME! She kept me updated on how the visit was going. Came home and Addie was great and how was in perfect condition…..she is coming back next week… Please book her if you want total ease of mind while your away!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by dogs and cats for as long as I can remember! Growing up as an only child, our pets were my built-in best friends and caring for them was my responsibility from a young age. That love for animals has only grown with me. Over the years, friends and neighbors have trusted me to drop in, walk, and stay with their pets while they’re away, and I genuinely love getting to know each animal and their individual personality, routines, and quirks. These days, I’m a mom to a toddler and three very loved pets of my own, including my Golden Retriever, who is always happy to join me for a random walk during the day! I’d love to add a few more furry friends to my walking schedule and give them the same attention, patience, and affection I give my own. In our house, pets aren’t just pets, they’re family. I know how much trust it takes to leave a beloved pet in someone else’s care, and I’ll always treat yours with the same love and importance I would want someone to give mine. Whether they need a good walk, some playtime, company, or just someone to make sure they feel safe and loved while you’re away, I’d be so happy to be that person! I work from home, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout my day! I’m able to come and go as needed, so fitting walks, drop-ins, and visits into my daily routine is easy. I also have a great support system at home, which allows me to be flexible with scheduling and give your pets the time and attention they need. Because my work is remote, I can also bring it with me when needed! If your pet would benefit from a little extra company beyond a typical drop-in, I’m happy to settle in with my laptop and spend some additional time with them rather than rushing out the door. As a mom and pet owner myself, caring for both little humans and furry family members is already a big part of my everyday life. My child has been raised around animals and taught from the beginning to be gentle and respectful of their space. My schedule allows me plenty of freedom to make pet care a natural, and very welcome, part of my day! In our house, pet care is part of our everyday routine! I make sure fresh water is always available both upstairs and downstairs and changed daily, my cats’ food is checked and replenished each day, and my dog eats on a consistent twice-daily schedule. When I’m home, my dog gets a morning or afternoon walk, plenty of trips outside to our fenced backyard throughout the day, and usually a daycare day or two each week for some extra exercise and socialization. When I leave the house, I’m also very mindful of his safety, he stays comfortably downstairs with access to his bed and water, potential chewing hazards are put away, and toys that require supervision are never left out. I’d bring that same level of attention to caring for your pets! I know every animal and household has its own routine, so I’m happy to follow your feeding schedule, potty or litter box routine, walking preferences, playtime rules, and any other instructions that help your pet feel comfortable. Whether your pet thrives on a strict schedule or has their own wonderfully specific set of quirks, I want their routine to feel as normal as possible while you’re away.
“Lauren was outstanding. She took great care of our two dogs and they were very happy. She was responsive and sent us updates with pics daily. We definitely use her again.”

“Carolyn was wonderful. She took good care of Charlie and was careful to follow instructions including administering medicine and following physical therapy instructions. She left the house very clean and orderly. We would love to use her again.”

“I would without a doubt reach out to Randi in hopes of her being available to dog sit Ruby again and highly recommend her services!! The house was super clean and loved getting pictures while we were gone. Thank you so much!!”

“Wesley was amazing. Kept in contact with us. Took amazing care of our pups. Let us know if any issues. She even got my little old pup to cuddle and that is rare. He really doesn’t like many people! She was amazing and we plan to use her again and again!!”

About: I grew up with a dog when i was really little. I have dog sat and walked for my neighbors multiple times. And I’m currently living with my friend’s dog and cats. Currently as college student home for break, my weekdays are fully available. I am used to waking up early and I am pretty active so early morning walks will be a breeze. I like to take note of small habit and dos and don’ts to look back and be thorough in pet care. I am well versed in what dangerous for pets as I grew up with pets and have lived with both cats and dogs.
“Victor was a great companion to Onion - they took to each other right away. Victor was respectful of my place and left it in great condition. Victor is now on my list of pet sitters for the future.”

About: I've been a petsitter since middle school. I've looked after cats and dogs both young and old, large and small. I'm very flexible and I take special care to keep each pet I care for comfortable and happy. I'm not currently employed, so I have plenty of time. I prefer late hours, but I can handle early risers too. I have a club event every second and fourth Tuesday; otherwise I'm fairly flexible with my activities. I will meet your pet wherever they are. If they need affection, I can give it; if they need space, I can give it. I put their well-being first, no matter what. If they make a mess, I will clean it up.
About: As a Registered Nurse, caring for others has always been at the heart of who I am. That same compassion and attention to detail naturally extends to animals.. I know your pets are family, and I’ll care for them with the same patience, love, and vigilance I’d want for my own. Whether it’s keeping them on their routine, giving medications, or simply providing plenty of playtime, cuddles, and companionship, my goal is to keep them safe, healthy, happy, and loved while you’re away so you can have complete peace of mind. I believe your pets deserve my undivided attention. That’s why I only accept one family at a time. My hybrid work schedule allows me to work from home two days per week, and I can often adjust those days to be home even more with your pet. Depending on how far your home is from my office, I am also be able to come home for lunch for walks or playtime. If your pet is happiest in their own environment, I’m happy to provide care in your home. I can care for multiple dogs, cats, or a combination of pets, and I’m also open to caring for other animals. My goal is to keep your pets safe, comfortable, and maintain their normal routine while you’re away. Every pet is unique, so I’d love to learn about your needs and how I can provide the best care for your furry (or feathered or scaled!) family members. Let’s chat and create a plan that’s perfect for you and your pets!
“Thank you Marissa! Figgy was well cared for and were so thankful to be able to leave her at home instead of at a kennel. Marissa left the house spotless and was extremely flexible when our plans changed.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Elmont
We’re repeat clients of Natalie’s and she continues to be an exceptional sitter. We just returned from a vacation where she watched both our dogs, including celebrating Chester’s 1st birthday while we were away! She took wonderful care of our house, but more importantly, she gave both dogs excellent, attentive care the entire time. Natalie is someone who takes her responsibility to the animals in her care seriously, and we trust her completely with our pets, our home, and everything in between. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter who is responsible, reliable, and genuinely loves the pets she watches.

I was worried that when we got home from our beach vacation that our pets would demand that Helen be their new mom. She took our dog for two walks a day without being asked. She fed our 19 year old kitty like the queen that she is. And she discussed trivia with our middle cat who often gets overlooked. She also sent pictures everyday and bless her, dealt with over 12 hours of a power outage from a storm on the last day. I had zero worries about our fur babies and home while we were gone. Would absolutely rebook her in the future!

Vanessa took great care of our four pets! She stuck exactly to their usual schedule, even though that meant waking up very early every morning to feed them breakfast. She was communicative and provided regular updates. Vanessa took good care of the house too, leaving it as tidy as she found it. Would definitely book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elmont walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elmont maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elmont choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
