“Tonisa was great!! We did a meet and greet first. She was accommodating of any special needs and took care of Rocky like her own! Great with pictures and videos too! Rocky will be back to see Ava, his new friend.”

“We would highly recommend Candace and Steve. Dexter is very attached to us and we were a bit worried about how things would go. From the meet and greet to the full 9 day stay, things went more smoothly than we could have imagined. Dexter was well cared for and content. Candace sent video clips often and we were so surprised to see how well he adjusted. He even made a new friend- Pumpkin! We can't thank Candace and Steve enough for taking care of our guy and allowing us to have a very relaxing and much needed family vacation.”

“Thank you for doing such an amazing job. I was so impressed. We will definitely be booking again. Jack had so much fun and I can tell he was well taken care of. We can’t thank you enough.”

“We are so glad we found Eleanor! As first time dog owners, it was really important to us to find someone we felt comfortable leaving our 7 month old Pomsky with, close to home in Northwest Indiana. After our initial meet & greet, I had full confidence that he would be taken great care of with her! We received updates during our trip with photos of our dog and his new “friends” who were staying there as well. We were truly able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing he was in good hands. We look forward to sending him back in the future!”

“Chloe is a shy and cautious puppy. Janet sent me updates frequently during her stay. She cared about her happiness and went above and beyond to become friends with Chloe. I really appreciate her love for Chloe. I will definitely book with her again in the future. Now I can travel guilt free knowing my puppy is in good hands.”

“Bernice went over and above. She kept ms up to date and included pictures during the entire stay. I would highly recommend Bernice and Cheddar to any pet parent.”

About: Hi! I’m a Veterinary student with experience in animal behavior, dog training, pet handling, and more. I’m passionate about providing a safe, loving, and stress free environment for pets in my home. My veterinary education helps me recognize health concerns, understand animal body language, and ensure every pet receives attentive, knowledgeable care. I will care for your pets with all the love in my heart, treating them as if they were my own and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved throughout their stay. 🐾❤️ As a Veterinary student, pet care is already a big part of my daily routine. I am available to care for pets during both weekdays and weekends, and I can provide plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I live in a secure apartment building with controlled access and a safe environment. There are several nearby parks and walking areas where your pet can enjoy regular exercise, enrichment, and outdoor time. I typically accept only one pet (or pets from the same family) at a time. I do not board pets from different households together, which helps prevent conflicts, anxiety, and unnecessary stress. This allows me to give each pet my full attention and ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and at home during their stay.
“Mariah is a wonderful sitter, she took great care of my baby. She took him on walks, played with him and had plenty of treats. I appreciated her sending pictures and videos while I was away to ease my mind. I will definitely use her again and would recommend her.”

“I’m so glad I found David to watch my Sam. We are new to the area and I haven’t traveled in awhile. David is very responsive, conscientious and communicative. He sent lots of pictures and updates, let me know how Sam was getting along with his dogs. Sam has a knee injury right now and he kept an eye on it for me, too. We’ve already got a second stay booked.”

“Rolanda was amazing! She was extremely nice throughout the entire process and helped me with any questions I had. She constantly kept me updated with pictures and it looked like my Bella had so much fun. From drop off to pick up she was just incredible and it was a really smooth process. Her communication is on point and she kept me comfortable throughout the process. Being that this was the first time I used this app I was nervous, but not anymore; I will definitely be using her again!”

Fetty can be very anxious and they can be reactive to dogs, she was patient and worked well with them. We will definitely be using her in the future ❤️”

About: I am an animal lover who has successfully raised both cats and dogs. Not only would I treat your pets as my own, but you will be updated frequently on the well-being of your pet. I enjoy all animals and have trained several dogs throughout the years. Before becoming interested in Rover, I have previously housed several dogs for friends and family members through WAG. With currently being in school to become a veterinarian, working with Rover would be a wonderful opportunity to become even more involved with taking care of animals. I am currently home full-time and will be easily accessible. With allowing me to house your fuzzy loved ones, be prepared for a very nice, professional, loving, and safe experience for the both of you. I currently work from home so I will have ample time to be present and support your fur baby. Daily walks and treats are provided I have a large fenced in yard for play time. I also provide as many updates as you need; this includes pictures and videos of your pet.
About: I've had different pets like fish, cats, birds, and dogs. I've babysitted for medium and small dogs before like walks, feeding them, hanging with them, going to the park. I have also watched cats just babysitting and feeding the cat. What sets me apart from other sitters is I have a very flexible schedule, I am very patient, good time management and I'm chill! I currently am chilling for the summer before school starts back up. I have lots of availability to chill and take care of some cute furry friends! I am available most of the 5-7 days a week. I have 1 cat and 4 kittens to keep your furry friend(s) company! I feed my pet twice a day once in the morning and then in the evening or night while keeping water available all day. I wash my cat only when visibly dirty but I do clean her ears once a month. I bathe dogs every 4-6 weeks. I do not currently have a dog but I do have experience with them! I do love to walk a lot so walking pets is never an issue!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
