“Manny is magical! His aura is special and our dog son sensed it from the moment we met! Anubis was so calm with him. This is the longest we've ever left our son with anyone and Manny made it so much easier. He kept open communication and sent pics to ensure Anubis was safe. We will use Manny from now on, he's great! Thank you Manny”

“Stefani is excellent! We were worried because we have a puppy who has never been without us. She took great care of him and he seemed really happy. I had to unexpectedly cancel my second stay with Stefani due to a medical emergency and she was so amazing about it! I highly recommend her.”

About: I have taken care of animals my whole life. Family and friends have relied on me for decades to take care of their animals. Growing up on a farm helped give me a lifelong affinity for animals. I’m a teacher who is off all summer. I have plenty of time to fill and would love to look after your animals, either in my home, as a drop in, or just a walk. I have a fenced in backyard, two amazing labs who love other dogs, and a wife and daughter who love dogs as much as I do.

“Candace (and husband) provided excellent care of our fur baby! She sent us multiple pictures during his stay and even a video. Our dog seemed happy, relaxed and content during the stay. We are well pleased and appreciative.”

“Nemo took to Kathleen right away. She kept him busy with walking and playing with her children. She is a dog lover! He is as in good hands. Sent several pics too. Would definitely ask her to sit again.”

“Wow! I am so thankful that Jennifer was able to watch my dogs this weekend. She is incredible! It is very clear she has a deep love for animals. She was so kind and gentle and understanding. She has a fenced yard so the dogs could run around and play. Her son was so amazing! He takes after his mom with his love for animals. I highly recommend them! You will not be disappointed. I felt at ease knowing they were with someone so loving.”

About: I have experience with dogs and cats. I currently have a senior Greyhound and would love to assist with caring for your pet while you can’t be there . I work during the week outside the home but stop home every four hours . I am home most evenings and weekends . I have a wonderful park with walking path two blocks away. I would crate your pet if you desire but have no problem with having your dog in my home without the crate ( as long as you know and trust your dog will be safe with mine )
“Janet is phenomenal! The MOST caring and kind dog mom and sitter! She is very patient with my 7 month puppy while he is developing his manners. She provides a lovely home and environment for my pup, who runs to the door whenever he is going to stay with Janet. She is simply the best!”

“She was AWESOME to work with! Communities consistently. Sent pictures, vids & updates. Provided my dog a clean, safe place to be, play and sleep. She LISTENED to the details about Taji and acted accordingly. I wlll definitely use her again and HIGHLY RECOMMEND her based on the services we received.”

“Holly did an amazing job watching our two dogs! She was attentive, communicative, and treated them like her own. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals and we felt completely comfortable leaving them in her care. Our pups came back happy and well cared for. We highly recommend Holly and would absolutely book with her again!”

“Had another wonderful experience with Ken and his family! The daily pictures and videos help you feel connected. The love and care that Roo received was outstanding! I wish we could give them 100 stars!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
