“Carol took great care of my elderly special needs dog while I was at work. She promptly sent me updates and a picture during her drop- in's with Stella. It was nice to come home to a happy dog :) ”

“Stephanie is an absolute gem and a total natural with dogs. From the moment she met Squishy, it was clear that she didn’t just see this as a job—she truly loves her with her whole heart. Beyond her obvious bond with animals, Stephanie is a pleasure to work with. She is: Kind and Considerate: She always maintains a warm, professional, and thoughtful demeanor. Incredibly Helpful: She frequently goes out of her way to assist with extra details or scheduling needs, making my life so much easier. Reliable: I never have to worry when Squishy is in her care. If you are looking for someone who is patient, communicative, and will treat your pet like a member of her own family, I cannot recommend Stephanie highly enough!”

“Kim took such good care of our pup during the day when I had to go away for a work trip. She came by and made sure Charlee got a nice afternoon walk and lots of attention! We will definitely be booking with her again in the future.”

About: Great family environment with a fenced backyard to run and play. We support families with pets in and around Wilmington, NC. We have great kids that will show your animal plenty of attention. We are very flexible on scheduling and cancellations. Your animal would not be kept outside but will be outside often on walks around the neighborhood or in the woods in the backyard. It would become apart of the family while it stays with us. We have a very disciplined schedule that caring for animals works well for. We will send pictures and daily updates as we care for your pet. Look forward to meeting you and your pet. Pet Walking, Doggy Daycare, and Drop in visits are completed by our 15 year old Daughter Isabella (Izzy) who is saving for her first car. She serves the Ogden, Porters Neck, and surrounding area. We are a family of 6 and are home most days. Brittany, myself and the children are very rarely not with your animals. If we go somewhere they go with us to the park or to run errands. They become part of the family for their time with us. We give your pet the keys to the house while they are here. They will already be stressed because their owner is gone and they are in a new place. They can go out in the fenced backyard or just relax in the house. We do a walk in the morning and evening and if you are booked on the weekend they will get to go out hiking. Some pets just like hanging out on the couch and thats ok too.
“I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have had Sarah pet sit my cats. She followed all the instructions I gave her and every day she sent me pictures in the morning and pictures in the evening. Sarah was outstanding and I would definitely use her again. She is very responsible and competent. I had complete peace of mind on my vacation because I knew my cats were being very well taken care of . Thank you so much Sarah!”

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of dogs from young to old, small to big, and healthy to sick/disabled. I’ve been looking after neighbor’s and family friend’s dogs for the past 6 years. I will be starting a summer internship on June 23rd and I will be there on Tuesdays and Thursday from 1-5pm. I will also be out of town from July 12th through August 2nd. I treat all pets I come by with love and respect and do my best to accommodate their needs. Some clients require special instructions or have a specific way of doing things that i’m glad to follow. I want to make sure your pet is comfortable and well taken care of.

“Julia was absolutely amazing with our puppies!! She gave us so many updates and pictures the whole time she watched them which made us feel so much more at ease. We’re very new to the area and our pups have only ever stayed with family or friends, and they warmed up to her and loved her right away! Your fur babies will be lucky to be in her care!”

About: I’ve grown up with pets my entire life and have never met an animal who doesn’t love me! I would love to walk your dogs and treat them as if they were my own! I recently graduated from NC State University and am currently looking for a fun way to spend my summer, so my availability is endless! I would have no problem fitting in a dog walking into my schedule. I have a fenced yard and do not keep any food or ingredients where an animal could grab from. There are no harmful flowers in my home and I am aware of what dogs can and cannot ingest.
About: Hi! I’m a caring and dependable pet sitter who treats every pet like my own. I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your furry family member, and I take that responsibility seriously. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or just cozy companionship, I’m happy to match their routine and personality. I’m patient, attentive, and committed to making sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I am currently working part time, so there is plenty of time to play! I am available Most days for walks, stopping by, or boarding. The safety, comfort, and well-being of every pet in my care are my top priorities. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their normal routine as closely as possible to reduce stress and help them feel secure. I carefully follow all care instructions, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special needs. I make sure the environment stays clean and safe by securing doors and gates, keeping food and water areas tidy, and removing any potential hazards. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and adjust my approach—whether that means energetic play, calm companionship, or giving them space. I always provide updates and photos so pet parents can feel confident their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for. I am a 2 minute walk to two different dog parks, and a large area to run around in, or a safe comfortable environment without other pets or kids to be the home away from home.
About: I’ve always connected well with animals, especially dogs. I’ve dog walked and watched others’ animals from a very young age. I was 22 when I decided to become a dog trainer. I was fortunate enough to attend one of the best programs in the country at Animal Behavior College, with a certificate in canine behavior therapy & a concentration in rehabilitating shelter dogs. I’m also qualified to train emotional support animals, which has been so rewarding. I chose this as a career path because of how much I genuinely love all living things. I can’t wait to meet your furry friends and give them the best care they could ask for! I own my own business, so I make my own schedule. I can tend to whatever schedule best suits the animals. I don’t have pets of my own, so that gives me even more flexibility. I always make sure I’m doing my best to care for animals, in any aspect of my life or career. I’m diligent in making sure their feeding, walking and play schedules are upheld promptly, and that their routines stay relatively in tact. This is one of the best things you can do to ease a pet’s anxiety about their owners being away. I work as a trainer, which means I’m happy to add on training sessions with your pet while they’re in my care, through my business if that’s something of interest. I’m very amenable to the specifications for each individual animal. Some dogs like to be given affection on the couch for a few minutes each day. Others might enjoy watching the birds in their yard for a while. I’m always happy to attune my care for each dog. When walking a dog, the quality of the walks are just as important as their frequency. Dogs require a certain level of mental stimulation each day, and ten minutes of sniffing is enough to satisfy most dog’s needs. They need the sniffing as much as the exercise. Your dog will be given ample time to sniff and “read the doggy newspaper”, as well as get some great exercise. I always make sure the animal has gotten everything that they need from the experience.
About: I’m a mother of two daughters and a grandmother of one grandson and I have my own Pomeranian though I don’t bring her to other pet sits. I’ve been around animals all my life having been raised on a farm for part of my adolescence. Animals feel comfortable around me. I’m new to the area and I’m looking to help out those in the area by doing something fun that I enjoy well providing some financial abundance for myself during my settling down in Wilmington. I’m an energy, healer, spiritual guide and Empowerment Coach Looking to help you help me in return :-) I won’t be caring for any dogs in my home, but I am more than happy to go to yours where I’m sure your pets would be most comfortable at while I care for them.

Amazing! Very communicative, sent lots of photos and updates, and spent quality time with my cats. I felt really reassured while I was away knowing they were in good hands. Both of my cats were comfortable and well taken care of. I would definitely book again!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kirkland. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
