“My old baby Tucker was very happy when I got home. I was a bit nervous as he is an elderly dog and this was the first time I’d left him with strangers. But Whitney obviously did a great job with my old timer. I would definitely recommend her and would use her again. Thank you Whitney.”

“Andrew was wonderful with Lola. He gave detailed reports each time he visited and sent multiple pictures. She was very happy to see us when we got home, but she was in great hands with Andrew!!!”

“This was the first time I have ever left my two cats while on vacation and was nervous about not being with them but Abigail truly went above and beyond and took such amazing care of them. She is the sweetest and I was able to be more relaxed while out of town knowing they were safe and being taken care of! Will definitely be using her again for any future trips!!”

About: Hello I’m Lia! With nine years of dedicated pet care experience, I offer comprehensive and compassionate service for your beloved companions. My expertise includes the oral administration of medication, ensuring your pet's health needs are met with precision. I'm also proficient in baths and brushing, keeping them comfortable and well-groomed. What truly sets me apart is my ability to handle emergencies such as seizures and choking, providing crucial peace of mind. During my college years, I gained three years of valuable boarding experience, comfortably hosting pets in my home. As a highly active individual, I love taking dogs out for extended playtime and walks, ensuring they get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. I have no limitations on breed or size, as I believe all dogs are, at heart, still sweet puppies deserving of love and attentive care. I am currently on Summer break so I have plenty of time to spend with your fur-baby! I am available for house sitting, drop-ins, and daily dog walking. On Sundays I won’t be available until the afternoon. When caring for pets in your home I will respect their routines and carefully follow the provided instructions. I value integrity and will always have respect for your home.
“Tommie was great! She went above and beyond to ensure my pup was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. Throughout the stay, I received regular updates with photos and videos, which gave me total peace of mind. She communicated very well throughout the entire process. Her genuine care made this an outstanding experience. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your dog like family, look no further! I will absolutely be booking with her again.”
“Sami did a great job caring for our two cats while we were gone for a week. She kept in frequent communication with me (which I really appreciated cause I can be kind of needy, lol), and the cats were happy when we got home. She got our mail too! Thanks, Sami!”
“Hannah was so great with our dog!! She went above and beyond during her trips and always made sure to leave a detailed rundown of her time with our Luna. I genuinely looked forward to reading about every visit and am very happy with how they all turned out. I am looking forward to having her back if she is available in the future! We’ve been home two days and even now Luna looks to the door close to her scheduled times like she waiting for her to walk in and play🥲”

About: For about two years I took care of my cousin's amazing dog Cyrus. My cousin had to travel extensively, so my routine with Cyrus was fairly involved. I took him on almost daily 45 minute walks, during which Cyrus would do his best to sneak tasty poop nuggets from under my laser gaze. I fed him twice per day, adding extra carrots as necessary to fuel some afternoon rounds of golf (his favorite game). And we'd bark at a few cars if they seemed extra suspicious. I also took him on routine vet visits and nail trimmings. I've also pet sit my friend's two cats, Iris and June, when my friend was away for several days. This included keeping the food and water bowls clean and filled, as well as playing with strings (Iris's favorite), and playing hide and seek (June's favorite). Currently, I'm switching from my former profession of teaching Physics, to my future profession of Data Sciece/AI. Right now this entails a lot of sitting and studying, which gives me plenty of time and opportunity to help care for your pet. My particular modus operandi will obviously be at the discretion of the pet owner. But generally, I am comfortable feeding your fur-friend, taking them on walks/playing with them, and taking them for routine visits to the vet if necessary.
About: I am a 35 year old Mother of 3 beautiful children, my Husband & I rescue and rehabilitate injured animals. I personally have owned and/or fostered dogs, cats & an array of random critters my entire life! I absolutely love all animals from Reptiles & Rodents to Cats & Dogs. I currently own 3 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, 1 Holland Lop Bunny & 1 California Rex Bunny, I also rehabilitated a baby squirrel who still returns Home for dinner sometimes. I have volunteered at many animal shelters and rescues. I’m an experienced Surgical Recovery Technician for a non-profit rescue. I have plenty of experience managing groups of up to 20 dogs or more by myself. I have worked with many different temperaments and ages, I’m always up for a challenge and am prepared to work with animals of all breeds, ages and temperaments with no question that I will form a bond with them very quickly. Also, I might be able to work hours that I have not listed if it is discussed in advance! I currently work on my own schedule, I am an Independent Contractor for multiple companies. Ultimately I am free to walk your pup or pet-sit anytime because I make my own hours! I will care for every animal as if they are my own. An owner leaving can be a very confusing time for an animal and it is important that they are shown a lot of affection and constantly reminded that they are loved! I intend to make every animal’s walk/visit a happy one and care for them as I hope someone would my own. Any animal in my care should be prepared for some good exercise as well, unless otherwise specified to take it easy due to old age and whatnot. I look forward to meeting you and your pets soon, God Bless!
“I am so thankful for Nicole! She helped my husband and I when we needed someone to let our new puppy out last minute. She was responsive and on time. We will definitely be using her services again!”

“Sadie is the best! We use her every time we need someone to take care of our 3 cats. They are always well cared for, food and water bowls full, clean litter boxes, and she even brings in my packages!”

“Jade was so great! She was so accommodating with a last minute request and definitely made me feel at ease being away from my two pups for a few nights with her drop-ins. She always sent through great pics and updates about the dogs. We can’t wait to book with her again!”

“Amazing!! Received pictures of Jax being in great care. I felt relieved knowing Jax was being cared for genuinely while I was at work. They communicate very well and I will definitely book with them again the future!”

This was the first time I have ever left my two cats while on vacation and was nervous about not being with them but Abigail truly went above and beyond and took such amazing care of them. She is the sweetest and I was able to be more relaxed while out of town knowing they were safe and being taken care of! Will definitely be using her again for any future trips!!

I couldn’t have asked for better care for my cat, Oreo. Whitney is a true animal lover and really connected with her, which meant so much to me. Her communication was thoughtful, responsive, and always kept me feeling at ease. She went above and beyond, and I truly felt like Oreo was so well cared for while I was away. I would absolutely trust her again!

Sara was absolutely amazing. Caring, attentive, and wonderful with my cats. She even brought her own toys, which they loved! One of my cats usually takes time to warm up to new people, but Sara managed to get him comfortable on day one. She went above and beyond, without being asked she took the litter with her instead of leaving it in the trash, washing the cat bowls, and following all of my instructions perfectly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Sara and will definitely be booking her again. Thanks again Sara!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Irmo. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
