“Alex was absolutely great with our pups! She gave them tons of attention while she stayed with them for a weekend including some training, lots of walks, and even a hike! She sent lots of updates/photos and had excellent communication. Will definitely be using her again!”

“Kelsee is always so great with our two senior dogs. She had the added work of administering medication and monitoring one of our pup’s health/behavior and went above and beyond sending specific updates to us throughout the week. She is detail oriented, a great communicator, and really cares and picks up on our dogs’ unique tendencies. They miss her already! We will always go to her for future needs and highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter. Thanks a million Kelsee! 🙏🏻”

About: Hey there! I’m a dedicated pet caregiver with 5+ years of professional experience offering pet sitting, dog walking, and drop in visits. I’ve cared for pets of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I’m calm, patient, and loving pets usually warm up to me right away! I’m reliable, attentive to routines, and always follow instructions carefully to keep your pets safe and happy. I have a 17 year old cat of my own named Merv that I absolutely love. He’s a sweetheart and gets along well with others. I’ve had many dogs like 2 English bulldog’s, and a Black Lab. They all lived a happy life and passed of old age. I’m hoping to welcome another cat or dog soon. I take pride in providing compassionate, high quality care every visit. Your pets will be in great hands! 🐾💛 I do pet care full time, so I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pets the attention they deserve. I’m available for walks, drop ins, and sitting throughout the week, with boarding available most days as well. I only accept one pet family at a time for boarding, so your pet will always have my full attention and care. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. It’s just me, my boyfriend, and my cat Merv at home, and I create a calm, loving environment. I’ve had two English Bulldogs and a Black Lab who lived long, happy lives, so I understand different needs and temperaments. I do not overbook and only care for one pet family at a time, ensuring a safe, low stress, and personalized experience. 🐾💛
“It was awesome to have Jada take care of my dog for two weeks. She went above and beyond on everything. Super caring, dedicated and communicative. Even my neighbors noticed how good she was with my dog. She didn’t have to do this but she even took care of my plants and left my apartment sparkling clean. Having Jada take care of my dog gave me a huge peace of mind. I fully recommend her and I will be booking again”

“Chloe once again was great with Luna and Banjo! She sent me pictures while we were away and kept me posted on how they were doing. Will continue to rebook Chloe for future sittings..”

“Emily was great at keeping me updated on my dogs and sent photos frequently. They were happy and healthy when I returned from my trip. I will definitely use her again in the future.”

“Maddie has watched our dogs several times and is always so punctual, communicative, and we always return to a house that in order. Maddie will follow our requests perfectly! Our dog is nursing a tendon injury and Maddie made sure she was always on a leash outside. I can actually relax when Maddie is watching our dogs!”

“We love Gigi!! She’s watched our pets/house a couple times for us while we were on vacation, and always does a great job! We get lots of updates throughout the week with photos which always makes us feel better about leaving our babies. One of our dogs has a lot of anxiety and we also have a very antisocial cat, and they both love Gigi which says a lot!! She leaves our home in great, clean condition and overall it’s always just a very smooth, pleasant experience working with her! We will continue to book with Gigi every time we need a sitter :)”

“We have a pretty anxious and at times, aggressive dog. Jacque is the first dog sitter we’ve ever hired and she gave us complete and total peace of mind. Could not recommend more!”

“Oli was very attentive and caring for my animals and was able to watch them last minute. She provided plenty of pictures and updates, and asked a lot of questions which showed me she was really interested in my animals’ well being. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a sitter!”

“Thank you Melissa for taking such great care of my pets and house! It was a pleasure to meet you. I'm so grateful to have found such a wonderful person to trust with pet and hoise sitting!”

About: I’ve been taking care of my family’s, friends’, and neighbors’ cats and dogs since I was 10 years old. I am a medical student looking to make some extra money and would love to hang out with some pets! I am in my second year of medical school, so I am busy but have significant flexibility to take care of pets since I can study and watch lectures from home. I am very flexible on weekends when I am in town. I live in an apartment in downtown Indianapolis, so would prefer to do walks and home visits. I could potentially host a cat in my own apartment.
“Hannah was very flexible, meet n greet, and is kind, confident, and understanding. She clearly has experience with loud and large dogs as well. I would trust her to watch the dogs again!”
“Maribel was incredibly flexible and communicative. She is very conscientious and has a genuine affection for animals. She provided regular updates and made me very comfortable being away.”

“Anna was incredible! She is the most communicative and quick responding (and quick thinking) sitter we’ve had. Not only that, she was so caring and loving to our pup, left our house in pristine clean condition, and she followed our care instructions to the letter. We will *definitely* be reaching out to her again!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Indianapolis is $45

Anna did an amazing job with my anxious pup. She was patient with him and gave him the space he needed, while still paying attention to him and taking care of him. She gave frequent updates and pictures which I loved to see on my phone. I appreciated her so much while she was staying with my dog!

I 100% would recommend Lauren and book her again! This was a last minute trip for me, and she did a great job with my pets. I was so surprised at how quickly my cats fell in love with her! She sent lots of pictures, and went above and beyond when my flight was delayed 8 hours by staying over longer than the booking. I stress so much about my pets when I leave them, but she really did put me at ease. Thank you!

Courtney was great! She sent a lot of pictures & communicated everyday on how Willie was doing. It definitely put our minds at ease knowing our little guy was being treated so good. She was great with giving him his needed eye drops everyday & we could tell when we got home they were administered correctly. She also took great care of our home. I would definitely recommend her.

Alexa was amazing! She took such great care of our dog over a long weekend and made the whole experience completely stress-free. She was super communicative, sent lots of updates and photos, and it was obvious our dog was in great hands the entire time. It made it so much easier to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was going so well. We’d absolutely book with Alexa again!

Cozette established a rapport immediately with Blaine and Millie at the meet and great. She provides specialized care to each of them that supported their individual personalities and needs. She took excellent care of it home as well! Will not hesitate to seek her help again.

Ellen is a wonderful petsitter. My two dogs really took to her and she spent plenty of time with them throwing their favorite ball. Ellen was also kind enough to bring the mail in, water the plants and take out the garbage to the curb which she didn’t have to do, but helped immensely. I definitely plan to have Ellen to help me in the future.

Jada and Daniel are amazing. They kept in touch by regularly sending us pictures and updates, giving us peace of mind while we were away. They went above and beyond in having our house ready for our return. Would book again and would recommend to anyone needing good sitters.

Maddie has watched our dogs several times and is always so punctual, communicative, and we always return to a house that in order. Maddie will follow our requests perfectly! Our dog is nursing a tendon injury and Maddie made sure she was always on a leash outside. I can actually relax when Maddie is watching our dogs!

FAQs for House Sitting - Indianapolis
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Indianapolis on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,531 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Indianapolis. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Indianapolis walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Indianapolis maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Indianapolis choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Indianapolis. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
