“Kelsey is the best! She is so proactive with communication, sends regular updates (photos and videos) and truly makes my life easier and my high energy dog so happy!”

“Jada was great! This was the first time we’ve left our kitty with anyone other then family or friends. Jada sent pictures everyday and kept us updated on our boys day. We will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Jacque was fantastic! Both with our pups, and our home she is definitely top notch! I would not hesitate to contact Jacque again for our next trip, and I know our dogs would love it too!! Thank you again Jacque! I hope we have the opportunity to work with you in the future! 😀🐾💖”

“Maddie is wonderful.. Shyla (my dog) absolutely loved her. The bed was made and there was no trash for me to take out.. most importantly, my little girl was taken care of. Communication was a breeze. Will use again!”

“Patrick was a fantastic dog, house, and plant care taker! We received daily updates and routine photos and never had to worry about a thing. We would definitely recommend / rebook!”

“We were so lucky to come across Gianna. My cats and dogs just loved her. Gianna pet/house sat for us for a week. She was very responsible taking care of the pets needs as well as the house. From the moment we met Gianna, my pets adored her! She is definitely an animal lover. We hope to use Gianna again when we need pet sitting services. Highly recommended!”

“Top notch. Couldn't ask for more. She was available short notice and was very accommodating. Daisy is a very shy dog, very skittish, and fearful. Latrice bonded with her faster than anyone ever has, and it was nice be know that she was relaxed and happy while I was away.”

“We came home to a very happy dog! This was our first time using a house sitter instead of a kennel. We always had a very anxious, depressed dog when we picked him up from a kennel. Ellen took great care of Cooper and our house. She sent us pictures and updates about how Cooper was doing while we were gone so we weren’t anxious and depressed about leaving our baby! We are very pleased with our experience with Ellen. Thank you.”

“Leah is phenomenal!! She helped us out last minute and was I will absolutely be booking with her again! Having to be halfway across the country isn’t such a big deal when I know my bestest boys are happy & taken care of 💜”

“Arianna took such good care of my dog, she was super communicative with me through the whole process. I felt very confident leaving Wesley with her while I was out of town- he was so happy and relaxed when I got back home I could tell he had felt very comfortable with her!”

“So grateful for Damica during our time away. She always sends pictures and took our boys out on walks and visits to the dog park. We never have to worry about being away and our boys not being taken care of! 💜”
“I can’t recommend Gabriela enough! She helped me out on very short notice, and I’m so grateful she was available. My dog can be a handful—he’s big (around 100 pounds) and very affectionate—but she handled him with so much patience and confidence. It’s clear she really understands dogs, especially larger breeds, and knows how to manage their energy while still giving them the love and attention they need. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. If you’re looking for someone reliable, knowledgeable, and genuinely great with dogs, Gabriela is the one!”

“This is the second time we have had Chris stay with our two dogs while out of town and both times we have had great experiences. The dogs love him and are always happy and healthy when we get home. We got regular updates and I feel he went above and beyond in many ways. I would absolutely use him again! Thanks, Chris! The girls miss you!”

“Emily is a great communicator and always lets me know when she arrives, feeds the animals and updates each day. She shares photos and is courteous and takes great care of the house. .”

“Maribel was amazing with our baby Whiskey. She was super detailed and observant. She gave plenty of updates and let us know if he was doing anything that might be abnormal (face itching, reactions to summer heat, etc) The house was spotless when we came home and she was a fantastic guest. We highly recommend Maribel. She is super ??”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, and parrots since I’ve been old enough to walk. I grew up with a plethora of different breeds and personalities of animals and have been able to connect with all of them. I currently work full-time in downtown Indianapolis, Monday-Thursday from 8 am-5:30 pm, so my availability would be outside of those hours for those days. Friday-Sunday, I have open availability. I have two cats of my own who are indoor-only. I am not able to bring outside cats or dogs into my own home.
About: I am my go to pet sitter for my friends and family. I enjoy taking dogs on long walks and playing with cats and making sure they are happy. I want to be involved in animal care and this is a great way to do so! I have a full time job during the week, with some days being remote. I can be flexible but, I’d prefer weekend visits. I am willing to work with your schedule. I am very attentive and love giving animals pets and playing with them. I try to enrich their minds as much I can on my visits. Whether that be playing with toys or loading up enrichment feeders. An enriched animal is a happy animal.

About: I have had pets my whole life and have three right now who are all senior aged. I have lived animals my whole life and have a tendency of them feeling safe around me in general. I have had a wide array of different pets in my lifetime and I have been the one who has taken care of them usually. Some of the pets I have taken care of are dogs, cats, chickens, and pheasants. I have also pet sit a rabbit when I was in elementary school and grew up around farm animals as well that my dads side of the family would own. I have trained both my dogs I have now including on and off leash training and a command I call “wait” for stopping before crossing the street. I also have been a petsitter for about 4 years now and have taken care of animals young and old I’m in college right now and work partime on the weekends so while my schedule is relatively busy I have gaps in my school schedule that I can walk dogs once or twice a week. But other than that I only do petsitting at the home and stay there in order to take care of said animal(s). I do not do specific time based petsitting due to my busy schedule and lack of consistency with my work schedule on weekends. I always make sure my pets have food, water, and are feeling comfortable. My pets are my babies and I love them more than anything in the world even if they decide to be naughty or bold from time to time as they have gotten older. All the pets I have had or petsit young or old get taken care of with the utmost care.

“Heather was amazing with Rip & Diesel. I couldn’t ask for a better house / dog sitter. It was a last minute booking and Heather came through for me. I will rebook for sure with Heather.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Indianapolis
Maxwell did a great job with our two huskies for a week while we were on vacation. We have one dog that is super anxious and nervous around new people. Maxwell took the time to earn his trust and make him more comfortable. He also administered meds to one of our dogs. Maxwell was responsive and provided daily updates. He stayed at our house, picked up after himself, and did some hair control. We would definitely recommend him to anyone needing a reliable sitter!

Ellen was amazing. We will definitely use her again if she’s available and wants to come back! We have 2 cats and 2 dogs, one of which is anxious and takes a while to warm up. We had Ellen spend some time with our pets beforehand (given the anxious one) and EVERY visit she was on time and my pets loved her. She sent us a ton of pictures and updates which was great since I was a little nervous to leave our anxious girl for the first time.

Arianna took such good care of my dog, she was super communicative with me through the whole process. I felt very confident leaving Wesley with her while I was out of town- he was so happy and relaxed when I got back home I could tell he had felt very comfortable with her!

Abigail was so great! We came in town for a family wedding and she watched Maggie on Friday night and then again on Saturday for 8 hours. Maggie has terrible separation anxiety so she can not be left at home alone for more than a hour. Abigail was so sweet about this and kept her company on both days playing with her and feeding her and never leaving her :) She followed all of our instructions and took great care of our pup. She is also very communicative and arrived on time both days.

We are so glad we booked with Maddie! She loved our 2 pups and kitty all week, keeping to their routines and sending daily update pictures. When our travel plans home were delayed, she was able to pivot and help us an extra night- her flexibility and understanding are so appreciated! I’d trust her with our fur babies again and we plan to keep her at the top of our list for rebooking in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Indianapolis on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 1,454 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Indianapolis. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Indianapolis walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Indianapolis maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Indianapolis choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Indianapolis. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
