We'd give John 10 stars if it were an option. He took magnificent care of our 2 boys. He sent multiple pics and videos every day. And went above and beyond by picking up our mail, dealing with Amazon deliveries, stripped and washed the sheets from the bed he slept in, and even cleaned the fridge! Hands down the best pet-sitter we've ever hired!!

Jessica was great! She stayed at my apartment with my mina for a couple of days while I went out of town. Mina got a few walks and Jessica even cuddled with her and administered her medicine (which is no easy feat). They had a great time and Jessica sent many photos throughout her stay. She left my apartment in great order. I will definitely be booking her again!

About: I’ve been a dog owner most of my life! Currently, I own two dogs and I treat them like children. I’ve taken care of dogs since the age of 12. My family and friends would ask me to watch, feed, walk and play with their dog when out of town. I work from home so I will have plenty of time to play with your pups. I am available for weekend boarding, drop off anytime. I have a fenced yard and two friendly dogs that can play with your fur baby. I have a crate for your fur baby if needed.

Chrisztina was amazing with my pet furry boys. She sent me videos and pictures every day. She understood that Oscar has never being boarded or left our sides since he was two months old. Charlie was adjusted fine. Oscar likes to follow us around the house or he is in his home. I believe he knew that we left him as he followed Chrisztina everywhere too. I love Chrisztina for her get go personality. She really does care care about animals. Also, she’s very reasonable, too reasonable. She should increase her fee.

Akira is AMAZING! My rescue pup is very nervous/traumatized, but she absolutely loved Akira. She treated my pup like her own and took excellent care of my home and plants for two weeks. I was nervous leaving things in someone else's hands for so long, but Akira nailed it. Akira was a fantastic communicator and sent lots of cute pics and videos! She was also adaptable to the extreme heat, and I really appreciate her attention to my dog's comfort. She went above and beyond, and she'll absolutely be my go-to person for caring for my pup in the future. It felt amazing to come back to a safe pup, healthy plants, and clean home. Thank you again, Akira!

Nicole is an amazing sitter! I am so happy that I reached out to her when I was looking for someone to stay in our home with our 2 dogs. 1 of my dogs is very anxious, and especially around new people. Nicole took her time to get to know him and be patient with him. Everytime she updated me on our dogs, they looked happy and well taken care of. She even took them to parks a couple of times in the week and they looked so happy on their walks. We came back from our trip and our house was clean and the dogs were so happy! I would highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for an honest, responsible, and kind person to look after their pets! Thank you again Nicole! 10 out of 10.

We were gone for a week and our pets were well taken care of. Mary would visit once a week for a few weeks before we left to let the dogs get used to her. This helped tremendously! She sent daily updates and pics. We will definitely use her again when we go away. It removes a giant burden knowing our pets are well cared for while we’re gone.

About: I am a work from home mom who loves pet sitting. I started this journey a few years ago, and has had the privilege of hosting several dogs of all ages, personalities and sizes. My children absolutely love animals, especially dogs, so there will be lots of cuddles and love from us. I take dog sitting very seriously, so I am very careful, and I always aim to please my pet parents, so I am always sending pictures, videos, and making sure your baby is happy and well taken care of. I am big on staying fit and healthy, so I take daily walks to get my steps in. I am very accommodating, so nothing is ever too much for me. I’ve had pet parents ask me to scramble eggs for their fur babies and put it on top of their dog food, and I’ve also had pet parents tell me to only feed their fur baby with a spoon, so please don’t hesitate to ask for any special request, because I aim to please! I work from home during the week and I have lots of down-time allowing me to interact and play with your fur baby . I am off during weekends and holidays I have a big house with an unfenced yard, and a loving family that will play and love on your fur baby. We will take daily walks, play outdoors, and have lots of play time and cuddles.

About: I have grown up with all types of animals; cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and even horses! I take pet care very seriously and enjoy getting to know new fur babies and their personalities. I can drop in in the afternoons around lunch and in the evenings during the week, and on weekends I am free all day to check on your pets. I will make sure your pets get love and attention and not just a quick pop in visit (unless specifically requested). I like to make sure the pet feels safe and secure in their environment while I take care of them

About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life. From puppies to senior dogs. Ive turned aggressive dogs calm. Understanding your dog and its triggers are key. I will treat your pet like it’s my own. Lots of love and playful stimulation. I’m not just watching your dog, I’m creating a bond. Creating a safe space for your pup to be able to relax and have fun. Building trust with you is step 1. I’m currently working full time but I can move my schedule around as needed. At the moment weekends are best to watch your fur babies. I have an open yard. Not big but big enough to play. I use e collars to help direct playtime and to have control over them as needed. Dogs roam freely in the house when I am home. They go in crate if I am not. Multiple post breaks and plenty of playtime and healthy stimulation

Serena is amazing! She took such great care of my pups and loved on them like I would. She sent photo/video updates, took them on walks, and kept me up to date with everything. I always have anxiety leaving my dogs for any trips, but I felt very comfortable having Serena stay at my house with them. She went above and beyond! She took my dogs on individual walks since they're at very different activity levels and she left the guest bedroom immaculate with washed sheets and towels--even though she didn't have to do all of that! I would not hesitate to have Serena watch my dogs and house again. Also, my Jack Russell tends to bark at new people when they come over, but he didn't bark at her at all during the meet & greet. That alone tells me she's got great energy. Thank you, Serena! You are truly appreciated!

Alexa was wonderful. She was very communicative and gave us plenty of photo/video updates. We had her stay with our 9 year old husky/german shepherd mix and 9 month golden retriever for 10 days while we traveled abroad. She was great with keeping the young one entertained while stilling giving our older dog the attention she needed. They got lots of play time, training time and walks. Would recommend her for your dogs young or older.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hocutts Crossroads on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 2,241 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hocutts Crossroads. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hocutts Crossroads walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hocutts Crossroads maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hocutts Crossroads choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hocutts Crossroads. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
