“After three day camps we’re beyond happy with the level of care and fun that Mitzi has provided to our rescue Maltese, Winnie. Our goal was to provide a fun, safe, and positive socializing experience for Winnie, who is still very much coming into her own after being rescued from a puppy mill just five months ago. From pictures and videos, to text messages checking in with us throughout the day, we’ve come to realize how fortunate we were to discover Mitzi’s day care, she really dotes on all of the dogs and it’s such a comforting feeling knowing your dog is in great hands. We highly recommend Mitzi and hope others with shy/introverted dogs are equally fortunate to have their dogs spend time playing the day away in their giant back yard with friends of all sizes.”

“Beast can't wait to visit Ms. Judy and Autumn he is always excited and running to the door. Ms. Judy is so sweet and nurturing I feel comfortable at work knowing she is caring for him. I was very apprehensive with placing him in day care this is his first experience, she puts my mind at ease with all the photos and communication throughout the day.”

“Jackie was amazing looking after my dog! She and her family treated my dog like he was part of the family! Jackie was very easy to work with, very professional, and it’s easy to tell she has a passion for animals! I will definitely be using her services again!”

About: I’ve been a dog owner most of my life! Currently, I own two dogs and I treat them like children. I’ve taken care of dogs since the age of 12. My family and friends would ask me to watch, feed, walk and play with their dog when out of town. I work from home so I will have plenty of time to play with your pups. I am available for weekend boarding, drop off anytime. I have a fenced yard and two friendly dogs that can play with your fur baby. I have a crate for your fur baby if needed.
“Kayla is the best! Helped out with short notice and watched my two crazy Weims while I had some AC work done at the house. Peace of mind is a great thing and she definitely helped with that. Highly recommend her to all.”
“Hannah & Patrick were great with our pups. We did a meet & greet the week before so our dogs could meet on a nice walk. They have a nice sized yard for the dogs to play outside & took them on lots of walks! They only spent the day with them but they got lots of love, exercise & I got a lot of pics! Can’t wait for Lily& Ellie to visit again”

About: I sometimes feel like a dog/cat whisper. I have a very calm nature and I think dogs/cats can really pick up on this. I have had animals of my own but could no longer afford the monetary funds it takes to care for dogs and cats. I am a retired active senior citizen and I have a lot of spare time I would love to devote to dog/cat boarding or walking. When I do care for dogs/cats in my home, I try to make sure they feel I care for them and snuggle and hold them, if I am allowed by the animal. I always wait to see if they have sniffed me and that lets me know they are or are not accepting of me.
About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was a kid. Neighbors, friends and family have always left me in charge of the furry ones! I’m currently free anytime one the weekends and anytime after four! I’m just a teenager who loves and animals and want to handle some more! I will ensure the safety and well being of the animals, feeding them, bathing them, and anything else necessary for the super lived furry companions.
“Once again, Kaya had a great time and was in good hands! Exceptional care and flexibility when I needed it due to recent weather events and unexpected delays. Thank you SO much!”

About: I have years of experience taking care of other peoples’ dogs as well as my own, who is almost ten! I have a big fenced in yard with lots of shade that would be great for your pup! I work early mornings into the early afternoons (usually around 1-2). So after my work day, I’m home mostly relaxing or working in the yard and engage in lots of hobbies around the house. I will be around to tend to any needs your dog may have :) I live with my partner and our dog, Mulder, who is 9 years old. We have a fenced in yard with lots of shade that our dog loves and would love to share with your dog , too! We can also host indoors so the pups can cool off and relax.
“Julia took great care of Bowser and cleaned up after his puppy accidents (we are still working on going outside). We already have her booked for some upcoming drop-in visits!”

About: I don’t have any special skills but I treat every pet with care, patience, and attention. I’m reliable, I communicate, and I always follow instructions. I am full time student during the week so I don’t have a work schedule to get in the way of pet care. Not having a job means that my weekends are open and flexible. This means that I can give your pet my full attention during their stay with me. When I care for pets in my home I make sure that they are comfortable and I treat them as if they are my own. I follow their normal routine and special instructions given.

I love to play with all types of dogs, run and walk, I' be like an overprotective temporary big sister for them! I have a little furry sister know, a pom named Minnie Zoe, 7 years old and the little lady of the house. She is the one that gets the smiles every time we take her out and around. So your dogs will also have a little lady dog to play with and bark with. About: I work fully from home, which allows me to offer a highly attentive and flexible level of care throughout the day. Dogs in my care receive consistent supervision, regular potty breaks, walks, playtime, and companionship rather than being left alone for long periods. I also have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time, and my neighborhood has sidewalks that are ideal for daily walks. I currently have two dogs of my own: Neo, a Lab mix, and Luna, a Golden Retriever. Caring for them daily gives me strong hands-on experience with different temperaments, routines, and energy levels, and I’m very comfortable adjusting care based on each dog’s personality and needs. I also foster dogs, including dogs with medical needs and behavioral challenges. This has given me experience administering medication, managing behaviors, recognizing stress signals, and reinforcing basic training techniques when needed. I am comfortable caring for dogs that require extra patience, structure, or individualized attention. Because I truly love dogs and enjoy spending time with them, I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment where they can feel comfortable and secure. I understand how important trust is when leaving your pet with someone, and I treat every dog in my care with the same attention and responsibility I give my own. I intentionally provide quality, attentive care and only take bookings I can fully commit to, so each dog receives the attention they deserve. I work from home full time, so pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. Because I’m home throughout the day, I’m able to provide plenty of attention, supervision, companionship, and as many potty breaks as needed. I can easily incorporate walks, playtime, feeding schedules, medication if needed, and rest time into the day while making sure each dog feels comfortable and cared for. Safety is very important to me. I have a fully fenced yard with a 6-foot fence, which provides a secure space for dogs to spend time outside safely. Because I work from home full time, dogs in my care receive full attention, close supervision, and are never left alone for long periods. I make sure each dog feels comfortable, secure, and cared for while following their routine and any specific instructions provided by their owner.
“Becca is our dogs' best friend! We hadn't seen her in 3 months (pandemic) and as soon as we got out of the car at her house, our dogs ran right up the stairs to go into her house! I could tell they were excited to see her and she was equally excited to see them. I trust her 100% with my pups.”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hocutts Crossroads commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
