“I was very impressed with Janine and how she took care of our animals. Two huge dogs and a cat, she even went above and beyond to solve an unforeseen problem. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing pet sitting and I would definitely use her again.”
“If I could’ve given more than five stars, I would have!!! Aaliyah was fabulous! We love her the dogs love her. The house was in perfect shape. I can’t thank her enough!”

“Akira is AMAZING! My rescue pup is very nervous/traumatized, but she absolutely loved Akira. She treated my pup like her own and took excellent care of my home and plants for two weeks. I was nervous leaving things in someone else's hands for so long, but Akira nailed it. Akira was a fantastic communicator and sent lots of cute pics and videos! She was also adaptable to the extreme heat, and I really appreciate her attention to my dog's comfort. She went above and beyond, and she'll absolutely be my go-to person for caring for my pup in the future. It felt amazing to come back to a safe pup, healthy plants, and clean home. Thank you again, Akira!”

“Nicole was fantastic with my senior pups during her housesitting stay! Mobility issues and medications were handled with great care. Lots of cute pics were provided and my pups soaked up every minute of love and attention. Nicole has stellar communication skills and was very flexible when I had a last minute change in plans. I will definitely book her housesitting services again. I highly recommend her services!”

“Nicole was great with our dog. He could be challenging at times but Nicole was very patient with him until he was comfortable with her. She’s also good at communicating. She sent us pictures daily and got on calls during the 10 days we were abroad. She also took care of the garden and the rest of the house. It was a such a relief to come back to a happy dog and an orderly house. We will definitely book Nicole again :)”

“I am so thankful that I found JR to take care of my precious pup! I’ve always been able to leave her with family or friends and neighbors when away from home so this was the first time having someone else take care of her. And I couldn’t have found anyone better than JR. She bonded quickly with my dog and they had a great time together. Always updated me with great photos and updates and took great care of the house as well. I just hope she’s available next vacation!”

“We were gone for a week and our pets were well taken care of. Mary would visit once a week for a few weeks before we left to let the dogs get used to her. This helped tremendously! She sent daily updates and pics. We will definitely use her again when we go away. It removes a giant burden knowing our pets are well cared for while we’re gone.”

“Amanda was great!!! She took great care of Nova and sent me plenty of pics and updates about my baby. She also left the cutest report card about her time with Nova and how everything went. Super dependable and kind!!”

About: I recently graduated from NC State University with a degree in design and a minor in zoology! Now that I’m in post-grad life, I’m working remotely and looking to spend time doing what I love most: hanging out with animals. While I’ve shared most of my life living with cats but dog sitting has actually been my main thing! Long before downloading the Rover app, I was primarily dog sitting for people in person—starting back in 2020 when I pulled double duty babysitting both toddlers and their fur babies. Needless to say, dogs know I'm a trusted friend! From energetic medium and large breeds to the sweetest small pups, I love them all—that absolutely includes our precious senior dogs! I have a huge heart for older pups who just want company to hang out with. Because of my background with cats, I am an absolute pro at routine. I run a tight, loving schedule—timely meals, plenty of playtime and walks, and endless cuddles tailored to exactly what your dog likes. Your pup will be in the safest, most attentive hands. I’ll keep you completely in the loop with consistent updates. Plus, as a design grad, don't be surprised if a a simple portrait of your pet lands in your inbox as a bonus :) Since I work remotely from my laptop, my schedule is flexible, allowing me to easily prioritize your babies whenever they need attention. I will be at your home for the majority of the time, only popping out occasionally to grab food or run quick errands. I absolutely adore my own cats and treat them like royalty, so you can rest assured your fur babies will receive that exact same level of love and quality care! To ensure they have the best experience possible! I always make it a point to learn about their specific routines, favorite toys, safe zones, and any necessary medications ahead of time :)
“Mardi did an incredible job taking care of our cats and home while we were away for a week! She followed our instructions perfectly, sent regular updates and photos, and left our house in even better condition than when she arrived. I’m usually a little anxious about leaving the cats when we travel, but I was able to relax and enjoy our trip knowing everything was safe in her hands. I will absolutely book her again the next time we need a cat sitter!”

“Ainsley was incredible! Super flexible when we had cancelled flights, sent multiple updates and photos, and made our two dogs feel safe and happy! Could not recommend anyone more! We have one senior dog and one high energy, anxious dog that have different needs. Ainsley was able to fully accommodate both dogs and make sure they had all the exercise/enrichment they needed! Our pups are usually stressed when we finally make it back home, but they were relaxed and happy when we walked in. With stressful travel plan changes, it was comforting knowing we had someone we can trust with our dogs!”

“jacob does a great job with my 2 dogs, one who has some anxiety issues but he works to make her feel comfortable. he leaves my home the same way he found it and communicates with me if any issues arise. i wouldn't hesitate to use him again to watch my home and dogs.”

About: I've cared for a wide range of animals in my life; but mostly cats and dogs. I've grown up taking care of cats and dogs and I find it very easy and fun to work with them. I've raised kittens and puppies, as well as elderly animals. I have no issues with feeding, walking, or cleaning up after any animal. During the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, I have some time off from college and want to spend that extra time interacting with pets! I can work every day of the week and the weekend and can also do overnight care. I have a very reactive dog at my house that can be hard to control, but I'm able to get him on walks without escaping my grip. I'm stronger than I look! But I also treat animals with the utmost respect and kindness. I don't believe in negative reinforcement and I will treat your pet like royalty!
“Michelle was great with our pups!! They were all super comfortable and she made us feel really comfortable. We have never left our dogs with someone we didn’t know before so we were nervous for our first time but honestly she makes it feel like you’ve known her forever. She’s easy to communicate with, loves the animals, and was great at listening to the (probably unnecessary) amount of information and instructions I left about our dogs’ routine. We’re so grateful to have found a dog sitter we can trust! Would highly highly recommend.”

“Jylesha was a solid puppy and house sitter! We hired Jylesha in a a time crunch and she was very accommodating with our last-minute booking. She communicated quickly and well, and she did exactly as we asked with the dogs. She was a great house guest and we would not hesitate to work with her again!”

“Matthew was great!! We have a 5 month old vizsla puppy and he came and stayed at our house. He took Mater on long walks, always sent updates, photos, and videos. Mater was so happy when we got home, but also seemed like he missed his new friend! Matthew also cleaned the sheets, made the bed and washed all the towels. He kept the house very clean! Thank you so much!”

“Chrisztina was amazing with my pet furry boys. She sent me videos and pictures every day. She understood that Oscar has never being boarded or left our sides since he was two months old. Charlie was adjusted fine. Oscar likes to follow us around the house or he is in his home. I believe he knew that we left him as he followed Chrisztina everywhere too. I love Chrisztina for her get go personality. She really does care care about animals. Also, she’s very reasonable, too reasonable. She should increase her fee.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Middlesex on Rover is $35.52 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Middlesex walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Middlesex maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Middlesex choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Middlesex. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
