We'd give John 10 stars if it were an option. He took magnificent care of our 2 boys. He sent multiple pics and videos every day. And went above and beyond by picking up our mail, dealing with Amazon deliveries, stripped and washed the sheets from the bed he slept in, and even cleaned the fridge! Hands down the best pet-sitter we've ever hired!!

Mary is wonderful! We knew from the meet and greet that our boys were going to be well loved and looked after. I can’t say enough amazing things about her! Our Puppy is tuckered out from all the love he received under her care and our home was well taken care of as well. We will definitely be asking for her help again and again! Thank you Mary!

About: I’ve been a dog owner most of my life! Currently, I own two dogs and I treat them like children. I’ve taken care of dogs since the age of 12. My family and friends would ask me to watch, feed, walk and play with their dog when out of town. I work from home so I will have plenty of time to play with your pups. I am available for weekend boarding, drop off anytime. I have a fenced yard and two friendly dogs that can play with your fur baby. I have a crate for your fur baby if needed.

Michelle was great with our pups!! They were all super comfortable and she made us feel really comfortable. We have never left our dogs with someone we didn’t know before so we were nervous for our first time but honestly she makes it feel like you’ve known her forever. She’s easy to communicate with, loves the animals, and was great at listening to the (probably unnecessary) amount of information and instructions I left about our dogs’ routine. We’re so grateful to have found a dog sitter we can trust! Would highly highly recommend.

Skipper did an excellent job. I am so thankful he came and took such good care of my cats. The automatic feeder has a gel pack to keep out moisture broke and dispersed into the food. It was the perfect example of why even with an automatic feeder it is important to have someone check on the animals. Skipper provided excellent communication and updates.

Akira is AMAZING! My rescue pup is very nervous/traumatized, but she absolutely loved Akira. She treated my pup like her own and took excellent care of my home and plants for two weeks. I was nervous leaving things in someone else's hands for so long, but Akira nailed it. Akira was a fantastic communicator and sent lots of cute pics and videos! She was also adaptable to the extreme heat, and I really appreciate her attention to my dog's comfort. She went above and beyond, and she'll absolutely be my go-to person for caring for my pup in the future. It felt amazing to come back to a safe pup, healthy plants, and clean home. Thank you again, Akira!

About: I have one year of experience caring for pets, and I absolutely love it! I’ve taken care of dogs, making sure they’re well-fed, walked, and comfortable. I’m reliable and make sure to keep their routines, giving them plenty of attention and love so they feel safe and happy while their owners are away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I plan my schedule to ensure I have time for feeding, walking, and playing with each pet in my care, whether at my home or a client’s. I make sure to give each pet the attention and care they need, balancing my day around their routines. Staying organized and flexible allows me to keep up with my other commitments while still making pets my top priority. When caring for pets in my home, I make sure they have a cozy, safe space to relax and feel at home. I keep a close eye on them, follow their usual feeding and walking schedules, and give them plenty of playtime and affection. I keep any special needs or routines in mind to make their stay comfortable and familiar. If I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I maintain their regular schedule and routines as much as possible to minimize stress. I make sure their food, water, and walk times are consistent, and I keep the home tidy and secure. I’m also happy to send updates and photos, so my clients feel connected while they’re away!

About: Hi! I’m Jordyn, and I’m someone who truly loves dogs—not just watching them, but caring for them like they’re my own. I know how hard it can be to leave your pup behind, so my goal is to make sure both you and your dog feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy while you’re away. Every dog has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to get to know each one. Whether your pup loves long walks, belly rubs, playtime, or just curling up for a cozy nap, I’m happy to match their energy and routine. I’m very attentive, patient, and gentle, and I always make sure your dog feels safe and loved. I also work as a veterinary assistant so I have lots of Experience with pets of all kinds! I currently work as a vet assistant 4 days out of the week. I have three days off which includes every Saturday and Sunday and mostly Tuesdays. Some times they change the schedule up and I can have off either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. It just depends. Other than that I have every Saturday and Sunday off and I am always available on the weekend as I stay close by the house. I like to dog sit at my clients home because I feel the animal is most comfortable in their own home and I have one dog of my Own and two cats that live at my house and I wouldn’t want that to interfere with your animal. I like to dog walk, dog sit all weekend or as needed, and anything else you would like me to do. I can give Baths, cut nails and etc.

About: Having had dogs since I was born, and my entire life, I've always been the one in my family to teach them (sit, speak, paw, spin) and care for them when no one else is home. I have cared for a range of dog and cat breeds from when they were babies to in their old age. I hope to care for your animals too. I have a dog, I care for it everyday, and I am currently (June 2026) fostering another dog for a couple of weeks while its owner recovers from surgery. I take them on walks daily and play outside with them. We watch tv and sometimes I read to them (it doesn’t last, they get bored of it). As an owner of a dog with a chicken allergy I can understand specific needs, I prefer a more lax and chilled environment and my energy usually gets pets to follow.

Chrisztina was amazing with my pet furry boys. She sent me videos and pictures every day. She understood that Oscar has never being boarded or left our sides since he was two months old. Charlie was adjusted fine. Oscar likes to follow us around the house or he is in his home. I believe he knew that we left him as he followed Chrisztina everywhere too. I love Chrisztina for her get go personality. She really does care care about animals. Also, she’s very reasonable, too reasonable. She should increase her fee.

Without a doubt, the best dog/house sitter we’ve ever had and found her on three days notice!!!! Our two (high energy, somewhat timid, not perfectly trained but absolutely loveable) Aussies adored Jackie! We received regular updates by text and above and beyond offers to help around the house while we were away - including taking both large dogs to the groomers!! Came home to an impeccably clean house AND laundered sheets! 10 out of 10 would recommend!!!

About: What sets me apart is my calm, patient approach and genuine love for all animals. I take the time to understand each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort level—whether they’re energetic, shy, senior, or still learning. I’m attentive on walks, gentle during sitting, and always focused on safety, consistency, and positive interactions. I’m especially mindful with senior pets who may need slower walks, extra comfort, or medication reminders, and I’m patient with puppies who are still learning routines and leash manners. I communicate clearly with owners, follow care instructions closely, and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is simple: happy, relaxed pets and complete peace of mind for you. My open availability allows me to be hands-on and fully present, giving your pet(s) lots of attention and personalized care with patience love and consistency. I make sure your pet(s) feel safe, happy, and loved in their own home. I stick to their routine, give plenty of cuddles, play, and gentle attention, and make sure they’re comfortable every step of the way. You’ll get updates, photos, and lots of peace of mind while I care for your furry (or feathery!) family members.

About: I've cared for a wide range of animals in my life; but mostly cats and dogs. I've grown up taking care of cats and dogs and I find it very easy and fun to work with them. I've raised kittens and puppies, as well as elderly animals. I have no issues with feeding, walking, or cleaning up after any animal. During the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, I have some time off from college and want to spend that extra time interacting with pets! I can work every day of the week and the weekend and can also do overnight care. I have a very reactive dog at my house that can be hard to control, but I'm able to get him on walks without escaping my grip. I'm stronger than I look! But I also treat animals with the utmost respect and kindness. I don't believe in negative reinforcement and I will treat your pet like royalty!

Alexa was wonderful. She was very communicative and gave us plenty of photo/video updates. We had her stay with our 9 year old husky/german shepherd mix and 9 month golden retriever for 10 days while we traveled abroad. She was great with keeping the young one entertained while stilling giving our older dog the attention she needed. They got lots of play time, training time and walks. Would recommend her for your dogs young or older.

FAQs for House Sitting - Emit

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Emit on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,114 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Emit. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Emit walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Emit maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Emit choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Emit. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
