“My two girls loved Victoria!!! Every day she took them on walks, and gave them their every daily essentials. She would send us pictures numerous times during the day with her daily interactions that made us feel reassured that they were being well taken care of. She’s a sweet and nurturing person that you know that your fur babies are being well taken care of. The house was very clean and the girls were well picked up after.”

“Jairo was great with ours dogs! He kept us updated, communicated well. We really appreciated the notes he left about each of them during his stay with them. It gives us peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. We would definitely use his services again and highly recommend him!”

“The dogs liked him. He was very attentive. Kept us posted on everything that was going on with daily pictures with updates. Will definitely use him again.”

“As always, Lisa was a great parent to our two dogs. They love her so much and she sends wonderful updates with pictures! She’s always our number one choice and we’re so glad she was available this trip.”

“I had never left my fur baby with anyone but family and was really worried about leaving her with a stranger, but Randi eased my concerns from the first moment we met! She was so sweet with my girl and sent me regular updates while I was gone. She did an excellent job the entire time and probably took better care watching my baby than my family would have!”

“Stephanie was so wonderful with my dogs. She was very communicative and sent pictures and let me know everything she was doing. It’s so appreciated when you leave your babies at home with someone new. She also left my home probably cleaner than I left it which was very sweet and thoughtful. I would definitely use Stephanie again.”

“Ana was so amazing with my babes !!!! She was totally attentive and loving, and kept me updated each day. Totally appreciate her and will most certainly reach out to her next time I need to leave town 😊 Highly recommended !!!!”

“This weekend Carolina stayed with my pets for the first time and I’m very pleased with the outcome. I travel quite a bit, but was apprehensive to trust a new sitter with my pets after my previous sitter (which started off good) left a Very bad taste in my mouth and has made it difficult for me to warm up to the idea again. But Carolina was very communicative, and her regular updates kept me from feeling anxious about the new arrangement. She made a concerted effort to make my pets feel at ease and comfortable, and sticking with their usual routines. (One of my cats is especially frightful. He’s a rescue and has found it difficult to trust most humans. He’s occasionally even still skittish around me. But she took her time with him and coaxed away his fears). Additionally, Carolina was very respectful of my home - stripped the bed, collected sheets /towels for laundry, ran the dishwasher, etc. Exactly how you would want your home treated while you’re away. I would absolutely recommend Carolina, and definitely intend to work with her again in the future.”

“Sara watched our two kitties for an entire week. It was beyond helpful and awesome. She was able to keep me at ease. She communicated with me the entire time. As well as before the trip. You can tell she is incredibly comfortable taking care of animals. Our house was left clean, our kitties were happy and safe. Highly recommend!! Thank u thank u Sara!!”

“Journey did an incredible job house sitting for us, sending us tons of updates and pictures. She is diligent and took great care of our dog and our cat. Will definitely be reaching out to her again!”

“I am SO GLAD I found Ericka. She did such an amazing job watching our little homestead and animals for two weeks. She took care of our dogs, chickens, turtle and cat!! Our home was very well taken care of. And my dogs were so comfortable and happy with her. She sent regular updates and messaged any issues right away. THANK YOU ERICKA!! We are so happy we found you, and hope to book you again!”

“Erin was a life saver - we needed last-minute pet care and she was there! Erin responds quickly, answers questions, and took great care of our pets. Including medicating our senior dog. Thank you, Erin!”

“It’s always a pleasure having Hanna stay with our pups. They love her!! It’s amazing that she can wrangle our two pups on a walk! I never realized how much we appreciate receiving at least 2-3 photos per day, more if we ask for them. Highly recommend, as usual!”
“She was great & they boys said they enjoyed their time with her. She had no problem taking on a pup with epilepsy & providing his medication. I will use her services again in the future, assuming she is willing to take on my crazy boys again.”

Did I mention that, "I love this lifestyle?" I do. — Someone who genuinely loves this — not as a gig, but as a natural extension of who I am. I pet sit full time. Therefore I'm free to travel and pet sit any hour or day. Last minute sits are welcomed. Reach out anytime. “Our two pups absolutely LOVED Maria! She took care of them in our home for six days and everything went 100% smoothly. Maria is a kind and gracious person. She even left us a Thank You note! Every day we received photo texts, which reassured us that our beloved pets were having a good time with Maria. We recommend her very highly!”

Randi is amazing. My dog Ty is super shy and nervous, and our last dog walker just was not connecting with him when I was out of town, so he would refuse to walk or eat. Randi took the time to let Ty get comfortable with him and just kind of chilled with him respecting his space until he felt comfortable. But once he did, she gave him belly rubs and he seemed soo happy. When I returned he was excited to see me, versus being suspicious of who was coming in the door like past pet sitters. Bonus, she got my cat Rocky to come out and interact with her in 4 days, this usually takes weeks. Definitely our permanent pet sitter and will recommend her to others always! I'm soo happy to have someone I can confidently leave my pets with and go out of town, instead of worrying constantly if they are ok around someone.

In a last minute decision I contacted Titus to sit with my dogs. We didn't have time for a meet and greet but he agreed to help sight unseen, for which I am so grateful. We had ample communication and the dogs evidently welcomed him as a new friend. Titus is an honest young man with an admirable work ethic (and love of animals), and I loved having him in my home! Thank you, Titus, for your wonderful help!
Maria was absolutely wonderful! She was great at communicating and sent us daily updates and pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. We were definitely anxious about leaving our pets, but Maria made the whole process so easy and smooth. She took great care of our house, and even sent updates when we received packages. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and will definitely be using her again in the future!

Isabella stepped in last minute and even ran out for a quick meet and greet before we left on our trip. Communication was fast and reliable. She did everything we asked of her, and she sent us lots of photos!! We managed to relax knowing our fur babies were in good hands. We returned home to happy pets and the house looked great. Highly recommend!

Charis was awesome with our fur family! Our sitting experience started as a disaster for her (TOTALLY ON US) that she handled with complete ease and calm (I was a stressed mess lol). Less than 2 hours after her arrival all our smoke detectors started going off. And going off. And wouldn't stop. This went on for several hours and required a call to an electrician that thankfully was able to get there very quickly and solved the problem. I was so grateful Charis was willing to stick it out and assist with letting the electrician in and problem solving. Charis gave our 2 pups and our cat lots of love and attention during the 4 day stay and left our house in perfect condition. Ziggy, Shelby Ann, Bear and I highly recommend.

Hannah was wonderful with Eleanor. She stayed at our house for a week and was very patient with her. Our girl can be needy & struggles with separation anxiety but Hannah was able to cater to her needs. She provided wonderful updates & was very very kind to our home. She left the house very clean & she was so communicative. We would highly suggest trusting your babies with her and I don’t say that lightly! Thank you Hannah so much!!!

This was my first time using Rover and I will never use anyone else! Lorin made me feel at ease while I was away with daily updates, photos and videos - ensuring Hazel was in great hands. Hazel has never been boarded or watched after by anyone except my family. Seeing how comfortable she was in Lorin’s home showed me how much Hazel loved her and how well she was being taken care of. Thank you for providing such great care and I promise that you will see Hazel again! ♥️

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hilshire Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hilshire Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hilshire Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
