“Kathleen is a gem!! She stayed at our home for 10 nights with our 2 dogs. She sent pictures each morning and asked questions when she had any. Our home was in tip top shape when we returned and all instructions were followed perfectly. And most importantly our doggies were super happy and relaxed. I think they miss her ❤️ We’ll happily use her again!”

“Francesca did great. Our dog was happy and healthy when we returned. She communicated promptly with us when we checked in and we wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to her again when needed.”

“Amazing sitter, very kind, nice, respectful and truly cared for our home and animals. Looking forward to working with you again, I’d book again in a heartbeat!!!”

“I would highly recommend Leigh as a pet/house sitter!!! My dog, Hope, warmed up to her very quickly on the initial meeting. I was very lucky to get her for a holiday weekend with only a month's notice and was only able to do so since she just had a cancellation for that time. Leigh was very good at keeping me informed and sending pictures of Hope. I had no worries while I was away. I returned to a very clean house and happy dog.”
“10/10 Ren took excellent care of the fur babies and left the house uncannily like she found it (maybe cleaner??). She followed instructions to the tee, even going above and beyond for the fish, and sent cute pics while we were on vacation. Everybody was fed and cheerful when we arrived home.”

“Kaitlyn was amazing! I’m so thankful we found her. Oliver found his new best friend that gave him lots of love & hugs, played with him, and took such good care of him. She kept me constantly updated that made me felt at ease while I was away from my baby.”

“Tristen was amazing ! She took care of my buddy like no one else. Unfortunately, my dog got sick while I was out of town and Kristen made me feel less worried while she took care of him. I would deff book her again :)”

“Rebekah did a wonderful job keeping my babies and home safe while I was away. She sent photos and little updates which I loved! Definitely will be having Rebekah help out if I need it again!!”

“Amazing!!! She sent tons of photos and updates of our dog and cat over the weekend. Both of our animals need meds and little extra attention which she did great with :) Already booked her again for another weekend!”

“Stacey was amazing! My two dogs seemed to have a great time and were happy when I got back home. She followed all of my instructions and I really hope to have her back to watch my home and pups soon! ❤️”

“Beth is simply outstanding. A great communicator. I have complete trust that Riley will be well taken care of every time I have the opportunity to hire Beth. Definitely my Rover “Go To”!”

“Peach warmed up to Hannah at our meet ‘n greet and she spent the weekend at our house! It was like she was never there in the best way - Everything was just as we left it and Peachy was well taken care of. Plan on rebooking!”

About: I’ma a huge animal lover with years of hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats. Since I was young, friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to help care for their pets. I’m patient, dependable, and love spending time making sure pets are happy, active, and well cared for while their owners are away. I grew up around pets and currently help care for a Great Pyrenese and three cats so I’m very comfortable with animals of all sizes and personalities. I just moved back to Dallas after graduating from Texas Tech, so I have plenty of time to take care of pets while I am searching for a job! I’m comfortable caring for large breeds, multiple pets at once, and keeping up with feeding, walking, and cleaning routines. I have experience caring for dogs and cats, and I always make sure pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for while their owners are away.
“So grateful for Jose and Elizabeth house sitting and taking such good care of our SUPER needy and high maintenance dog, Kaya. She is always so anxious when we leave even for just an errand so we were worried about how she would do for five days. We received updates every day with pictures of Kaya having a great time! On walks, lounging in her bed and cuddling with our new favorite pet sitter. Coming home, everything was in its place and clean, even better than I expected. There was a bad storm while we were gone with high winds and they checked everything to make sure there wasn't damage, letting us know all was well with our home before we even knew there was a storm. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this experience. Even after our first meeting, there were good vibes and after just one day of being away with the updates and pictures, we never worried again. Highly recommend and am very happy with the service.”

“Brad was amazing with my pup and took great care Of my beta fish as well. He gave daily pupdates and provided lots of photos so I could relax and know Alamo was in good hands”

About: Hi! I love all animals and have experience caring for a wide variety of animals, including dogs and cats. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities—from energetic puppies and kittens to senior pets who need extra patience and specialized care. I understand that every animal has unique needs, and I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and comfort levels so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, feeding, medication administration (an area I have extra patience in because of my uncooperative cat), basic grooming, or simply providing companionship, I treat every pet as if they were my own. What sets me apart is my love for animals and commitment to dependable communication. I provide regular updates, photos, and peace of mind so you know your pets are receiving attentive, loving care. My goal is to create an stress-free experience for both you and your pets by providing reliable and compassionate care. I am in school pursuing my doctorate but am currently not taking classes for the summer. I work full-time but have flexibility to move hours to support your pet! On weekdays, I work starting between 8:30-10:00 and ending between 4:00-5:30. If close enough to my work, I could do lunch break visits as well! I live in a one bedroom apartment with my cat so unfortunately I will not house your pet. However, if I house sit for you, I will continue the routine your pet is used to.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Highland Village is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Highland Village
Jamie and Barry took care of our dog Poppy for 12 days as well as managed our gardens and flower pots. They did an amazing job. We were sent daily updates on Poppy with fantastic photos which allowed us to relax about her care while we enjoyed our vacation. 5 star A+ service from this duo team. I would highly recommend them. Thank you Jamie and Barry!

Ashton was absolutely fantastic, watching our bichon frise, Alfredo! He went above and beyond, keeping us updated with pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Alfredo was happy and well cared for – we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Leo was just amazing with Jake & Kai! They love her! She took great care of my home and pups while I was away for an important weekend for my daughter's college graduation. She sent daily updates and pictures, which was such a comfort, knowing my pups were so well taken care of. I'm truly grateful for such a caring, conscientious, trustworthy, and fun sitter for my pups! Thanks so much, Leo!

Initially we were concerned about leaving our home and dog to a stranger. One thing we learned is to give clear and specific instructions in writing so the sitter knew our expectations of walking and feeding tour dog. Once we had communicated this Matt did a great job. He kept in touch and asked questions when necessary. He left the house clean and tidy and even washed the bedding and towels. Our dog was well cared for and we would use Matt again should the need arise

London was incredible!! She stayed at our house and made the whole experience completely stress-free. My dogs loved her and I loved all the updates and pictures while we were away. It’s such a relief to find someone you can trust in your home. Everything was perfect when we got back😀 The dogs were happy and the house was cleaner than when we left! I’ll definitely be booking her again!

Talia was great! Very attentive to our dog Goose and our cats Lily and Grim. Goose had a hot spot during her stay and Talia messaged us. Asked if she wanted her to take him to our vet or if she could help him. She fixed goose up and he was better by the time we got home. Talia was awesome!!!

Heather was a great house sitter. Both Kumi and Jade were happy and well taken care of, and we appreciated her regular updates and photos. When we returned the house was clean and orderly. We will differently be looking for Heather to house sit again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Village on Rover is $42.49 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,069 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Village. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Village. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
