“Allison was amazing! She was dependable, responsible, and took great care of my dog, Jojo, while I was away. She kept in constant communication and followed my instructions perfectly. I really appreciated all the pictures and videos she sent of Jojo. She took Jojo on three walks a day, which was more than I expected. Since my dog loves walks, she was in heaven while Allison was caring for her. Allison also took excellent care of my house and left everything clean and organized. She even washed the sheets before leaving. I will definitely book her again in the future!”

“As a pet sitter myself, I can be picky regarding who I pick to watch my animals. I am grateful to have found Monica and glad she was available during the busy holiday season. She great care of the animals, including my roommates pup. She sent pictures which made us feel great and took care of the home. We appreciate the care that was put into looking after the furbabies. Will use Monica again!”

“Anna did a great job with the house and my dogs! She went above and beyond and was always quick to respond to communication. Will definitely use her again for house/dog sitting!”

“Mark did a great job taking care of my pets. I felt safe leaving them with him. I especially liked receiving daily videos. It was reassuring to see my sensitive dog smiling. Mark also left left the house clean which I appreciated.”

“Madelyn was a fantastic find on here. She was super reliable, I love that she asked so many questions to prepare for her stay, and I really appreciated the picture updates. I came home to a clean house and happy pups! She even deep cleaned the water bowls voluntarily. I have never seen these bowls shine so bright before. 🤣 I highly recommend Madelyn and would love to book again with her in the future”

“Catie was a wonderful dog sitter! Our dog normally gets depressed when we travel and she'll not eat. It's been a game changer having Catie dog sit at the house. Our dog actually ate and was happy! She left a sweet note and took great care of not only the dog, but the house as well. Thanks Catie!! We'll definitely be rebooking.”

“Haydyn was wonderful with my anxious goldendoodle, Poppy, who's scared of most people and doesn't like being petted. She let Poppy warm up at her own pace and kept me updated throughout the weekend. Poppy soon became comfortable and cuddly with Haydyn, who took her for walks, played, and kept her company. Haydyn respected my home and communicated well with me. I'd love to have her watch Poppy again!”

“Tiana took amazing care of our dog and cat while we were on vacation!! She was so sweet to send us daily updates and photos, and we could tell our fur babies adored her. She left the house super clean, we would 100% hire her again and recommend her!”

“Megan housesat with our 1 year old pup, Maple, for a week. She shared daily photo updates and was respectful of our home. Most importantly, Maple was safe, happy and healthy when we returned. I would happily re-book with Megan and recommend her to others.”

“Brody was a fantastic sitter for our fur babies! He kept us updated with pictures and texts, and was extremely communicative overall. He was very respectful of our home and space, and we would use his services again in the future. Fantastic experience working with him!”

“This is the very first time I have ever used Rover and I needed it very fast with very little warning. Marco was absolutely amazing. I almost wonder if Georgie wants him coming back and wants me going back out of town? I sure hope anytime I need to get another dog sitter. Marco is available because he was absolutely amazing. Thank you, Rover for creating such an amazing opportunity for dog owners and those who love dogs to come together.”

“Kirk took great care of our dogs and house while we were out of town. They seemed content upon our return and everything was in order. He communicated well and sent some pics during our trip. Would absolutely hire again!”

“Theresa was awesome! From the beginning her communication was great, when she came to meet with Dolly and my wife and I it was very clear that she wanted to know about Dolly and her routine, and it very obvious that she loves dogs…as soon as she showed up Dolly had made a new friend. She sent great photo updates and left our home exactly as it was when she showed up to house sit. I absolutely hope to have her help us again in the future. Thanks Theresa!”

“This was our first time using Jessica, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we met her, we felt comfortable and knew our dogs were in good hands. She was incredibly communicative throughout our trip and never made me feel like I was being a worry wart. She understood that leaving your pets with someone new can be stressful and was always kind, responsive, and reassuring. Jessica took excellent care of our dogs, especially our French Bulldog, who requires extra attention in the Utah heat. She clearly took her responsibilities seriously, made sure they had plenty of potty and outdoor breaks, cleaned up after them, and paid close attention to their needs. She also took great care of our home, brought in our packages, and left everything just as we had hoped. We truly lucked out finding Jessica. We would absolutely book with her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy Rover sitter.”

“Leilani did a great job with our old dog and young puppy while we were out of town for the weekend. Very reliable and responsive. We’ll definitely try to use her in the future.”

Highly recommend Megan to care for your fur baby! She was wonderful from start to finish. She was happy to come to our home for a meet and greet before her stay with our pup, and she was so kind and sweet with him right away. Oliver loved her! During her stay, Megan was punctual, responsive, and sent us wonderful updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She also did a great job accommodating Oliver’s medication needs and making sure he was well cared for. We felt completely comfortable knowing he was in such good hands. We will absolutely be using Megan again in the future!

Sky was the best caregiver for our pups that we could have asked for! We have literally never left our dogs with anyone other than family & we usually travel with them, but we couldn't bring them a long for where we were going & I was seriously so nervous leaving them with someone. Sky made us immediately feel at ease. The home visit went so well. You could tell she was capable & had such bright vibes. She checked in with us & gave the up most care to our dogs. I had left in a hurry bc we were in charge of a youth camp, so my counters were messy & I felt embarrassed for leaving a mess, but when I got home I noticed she had wiped down the counters & did a few of the dishes that I hadn't washed. I didn't expect her to do anything extra, but I thought that was so kind & thoughtful of her. I definitely would trust Sky with my dogs anytime. Thank you Sky!!

Emily has been very attentive and dependable with our dog, and we appreciate the care she gives while we’re away. She also takes her on walks, which our dog loves. When we return home, our dog is calm and settled, which is always a good sign that she’s been well cared for. Emily also lives very close to us, which makes scheduling especially convenient. We appreciate having someone nearby we can trust to look after our dog.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
