“Marilyn was able to house sit and stay with my 2 pups and manage their daily walking and eating routines while I was out of town. I trust her to both take care of my pups and respect my home boundaries. Please note providing a general schedule will help manage expectations So Marilyn is also able to manage her daily routine and personal responsibilities outside of my home. I Would reccomended her for your future needs 🙂”

“Tony was excellent. We were out of town for 11 days, he sent us updates and photos. He is an amazing communicator. Our flight canceled coming home and I had my sister go pick up the dogs, she said that the dogs were so calm and happy. He also left my house spotless. I couldn't be more happy with Tony's services. We will be going out of town a few more times this year, Tony will be our FIRST choice, nd hopefully only choice. We couldn't be more happy with the respect and love he gave to our home and our dogs. Thanks Again Tony.”

“Aileen was so good with my dogs. She sent lots of update photos and kept in touch. My dogs are on the shy side but they warmed up to her very fast. She is so sweet and my dogs loved her will definitely be booking whenever they need a sitter!”

“Gisselle was fantastic! She loved our babies (1 dog and two cats) while we were on a weeklong trip. She sent lots of photos and videos, and it was very obvious that they were well loved while we were gone. She’s a great communicator and even helped keep the house clean while we were gone, which is a hard thing to do. 😅 She even watered plants and took out the trash. We felt very safe and comfortable knowing she was caring for our babies and home. This was our first time using Rover and Gisselle came ahead of time to meet our dog and make sure they were a good fit. She helped us feel comfortable with the whole process. Our pup is anxious and particular and Gisselle was patient and they were besties after a short time. She also earned the trust of our shy cats over the week too. I’d highly recommend her for house and animal sitting as well as grooming and dog-walking :). While we did not use her grooming services, her level of care and love for animals makes me feel confident that she’d do an amazing job with that too.”

“Harrison was pretty much everything we’ve ever wanted in a dog sitter. He was patient with our youngest who takes some time to warm up to people, and really took the time to make our dogs and us feel comfortable. The txt updates every time he went and tended to them really had us at ease on our trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for any help with their furry loved ones.”

“Sarah took great care of our kitty and our home. Our cat can be skittish and anxious around new people, but she they immediately vibed so well! We could tell in our daily updates that she was having so much fun and bonding with Sarah.”

About: What sets me apart is my hands-on experience working at the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley, where I supported animals through post-surgical recovery, monitored their health, and assisted with feeding, cleaning, and enrichment activities. I’ve worked closely with veterinary staff and have been trained to recognize signs of distress, provide comfort, and ensure a safe environment for pets of all ages. I’m also fluent in ASL (American Sign Language), which allows me to communicate effectively with pet owners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, loved, and cared for-whether it’s a quick walk or an overnight stay. Availability: I am available Monday to Friday: Flexible hours (varied schedule) Weekends: Available upon request I am able to accommodate appointments and special requests based on client needs. When caring for pets in your home, I prioritize their safety, comfort, and well-being. I follow your routines closely to ensure consistency and minimize stress for your pet. I maintain a clean and secure environment, provide fresh water and food, and make sure your pet has a cozy space to rest and play. My experience at the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley taught me how to monitor animals during post-surgical recovery, recognize signs of distress, and respond calmly and effectively. I’m especially skilled in caring for senior pets and those with special needs, including administering basic medications and offering gentle support. You can trust that your pet will be treated with kindness, patience, and professionalism every step of the way.
“Cambria took awesome care of our two cats while we were away! She’s professional and responsive, and we appreciated the updates and photos. Our cats look forward to seeing her again!”

“Eliana took great care of our babies and our home! We felt confident leaving them in her care based on her calm, kind demeanor and the insightful questions she asked during the meet and greet, which showed her knowledge and intuition for animal behavior. She kept in great contact and was even a great sport about some circuit breaker issues that popped up while we were away. Reliable, responsive, and very sweet with our precious pets!”

About: Although I dont have any pets myself, I have had plenty experience working and taking care of cats and dogs. I am more than qualified to help because I am patient, and passionate about caring for pets. I have a flexible schedule I usually work weekends part time at a restaurant so I have the time to be able to walk or feed any cat or dog any day of the week. I dont have any pets myself so that would give me the time to be able to help take care of others. It depends on the standards of the owner, with dogs its important to walk them with a secure leash and make sure to let them walk around and sniff before doing their bussiness, I will always pick up after them to ensure a clean neighborhood. With cats and dogs you want to make sure to open the door slowly when walking inside and keep them indoors so they are safe.
“Todd was an exceptional dog sitter this was my first time to use Todd but I would definitely use him for future dog sitting. He was very attentive in regards to what my pets needs were and met those 100% he sent pictures and was in constant contact with me if questions arise. Todd is a five star dog sitter and I would highly recommend him for your dog sitting needs. We are ready have a trip planned and the following weeks and he is the only person that I would trust to stay with my babies. He is awesome!!!!!!”

I have three household pets with one being my cat. I fit my schedule around theirs as I know routine builds a great foundation! I follow any regulations or information provided for the pet specifically to ensure safety such as medications . I also use my animal science knowledge from college as I am an animal science student.
“I’ve had her multiple times. Always available when I need her last min. Which is very nice. My AirPods fell from my purse and she went outside to look for them and found them. Super helpful. 😊🙌🏻”

About: What sets me apart as a pet sitter is my deep commitment to not just caring for pets, but enhancing their well-being through specialized knowledge and skills. I'm currently working towards advanced training certifications, which reflects my dedication to continuous learning and professional development in pet care. As a service dog trainer, I have a unique understanding of canine behavior and training techniques. This experience allows me to provide structured, yet compassionate care and training to pets under my supervision. Whether it's working on obedience, behavior modification, or specific tasks, I apply these skills to help pets grow and thrive. Nutrition is another area where I bring added value. I have a strong background in pet nutrition, enabling me to make informed choices about the dietary needs of the pets I care for, if it is ever needed. This is especially important for pets with specific dietary requirements or health concerns. Puppy socialization and obedience are among my key strengths. I love working with puppies, helping them learn the ropes of social interaction, and guiding them through the critical stages of their development. My approach is always gentle, patient, and tailored to each puppy's unique personality and needs. I believe in treating every pet as if they were my own, with all the love, care, and attention they deserve. My goal is not just to be a sitter, but a positive influence in the lives of the pets I care for. No matter the service paid for, all dogs in my care will receive some play based, force free, positive only training for fun! I work from home and have an extremely flexible schedule with enables me to give your dog all of the care and attention it needs while in my care. I prioritize pet safety and comfort above all else. When caring for pets, either in my own home or in a client's home, I ensure that their environment is safe, secure, and tailored to their needs. This means removing any hazards, providing a cozy and comfortable space, and making sure they have access to fresh water and their preferred food. Building a bond with each pet is essential for me. I engage in playful activities that suit their personality and energy level, always focusing on positive reinforcement. This approach not only fosters trust but also helps in understanding their unique behaviors and needs. When it comes to training, I strictly adhere to force-free methods. This not only ensures the pet's physical well-being but also supports their mental and emotional health. By using positive reinforcement, I help pets feel confident and comfortable in my care. This approach is gentle, effective, and strengthens our bond, making their time with me a happy and stress-free experience.

About: I care for all the animals within my household which includes one German shepherd, one yorki/poodle mix, one terrier/chihuahua mix, two cats. I walk my dogs daily and maintain clear communication with my brothers to effectively feed and water them regularly. I am in high school until June 5th so I can care for animals after 5 on weekdays. I will be taking an EMT course over summer before I start at UCR that will take my Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays from 8-5. My Monday and Wednesday evenings I reserve for church as well as Sunday mornings. At home I tend to walk my two inside pups multiple times a day to get them stretching and active as well as provide them a restroom break from being inside. I tend to not leave food down when feeding cats vs dogs because my dogs tend to eat everything they see.
About: I’m very excited to work with you!🌈🌻💛 I've been caring for a variety of animals ever since I started high school. I love them so much, I'm dedicating my life to saving each and every one I can as I study to become a veterinarian :) I have experience from high school and college as well as personal experience with animals of my own. I’ve interned with veterinarians in my previous studies and continue to pursue my passion in advanced animal science college classes. From cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, rodents, donkeys, pigs, and even the goats at the LA zoo — I’ve learned a lot! 。:゚૮ ˶ˆ ﻌ ˆ˶ ა ゚:。 I care for my pets as precisely as I possibly can depending on their needs. Considering I have experience caring for senior dogs and have one of my own, I am very familiar with the strict diets and medical needs. I would say senior dogs are my specialty, so if you’re looking for a trustworthy sitter to look after your golden girl or boy you’ve come to the right gal😎 I work part time and have online classes, so my schedule is very flexible. Just let me know what times work best for you and I'll do my best to work with your schedule! For in home stays, walks, and daycare visits I attach an Apple Air Tag connected to my phone onto pets' collars during their stay/walk as well as a tag with my contact info in case of an emergency. As long as the collar is on, I'd be able to find a lost pet anywhere, I take safety very seriously! 。:゚૮ ˶ˆ ﻌ ˆ˶ ა ゚:。 I also have a Wyze camera and relatives who work from home so any doggies staying home if I’m out will always be watched :)
“Was our first time using Chloe and she stayed 4 days with our fur baby! We were so happy with her and she spoiled him with daily walks, cuddles and playtime! She sent pictures of him and he always looked so happy with her. She went beyond what we asked and came home to a happy boy and a clean house. ( which wasn’t expected)”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland on Rover is $33.17 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 2,181 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
