“Megan did an outstanding job with my two doxies Monte and Gracie. This was my first time having someone house sit through Rover which I thought might be better for my epileptic boy. Megan communicated with me daily to give me updates and pictures of my two pups. She even took care of a few of my outside plants and I came home to a super clean house. I would 100% hire her again to watch my fur babies. Thank you so much Megan…if I could give 10 stars I would.”

“Noel took great care of our puppy Tito! She was attentive, reliable, and clearly loves dogs. We felt totally comfortable leaving him with her and would absolutely book with her again.”

“Alina saved our weekend. She was available on short notice and stayed with our dog while we went to a wedding. She was very attentive with Ivy and was very responsive to my multiple texts. Would use her again!”

“Katie does a great job with our two dogs who absolutely love her! She took them for walks and showed them lots of attention. She was great in communicating with us on a regular basis. She took care of our house, got our mail, and watered our plants. We would not hesitate to have her back and our dogs would love that too!”

About: I have been a pet owner since I entered the world. Most of my experience is with dogs, but I do have two cats. As of now, most of my pet-sitting jobs have been for close family friends. I am just starting on my Rover journey. I am a college student who is looking to help pay for my college expenses. I'm only offering Friday-Sunday right now since I will be working during the week and don't have a flexible schedule. On the weekends, your dogs will have my full attention :) I do not provide care in my own home. I will work with you to ensure that your pet feels safe with me while I am in their space.
About: I've been taking care of pets for my family, and have watched the pets of others for my whole life! I have watched dogs that require a lot of attention, as well as cats that require oral medication. I can work with your pets needs! I would also be happy to negotiate price, so feel free to reach out :) At home, I help take care of our two cats. At my grandparents house, I help take care of their dogs, and watch them while my grandparents are out of town. I can easily care for your pets within your home. I'm happy to go on long or short walks, stick to feeding/medication schedules, and anything else that your pet needs!
About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 10 years and truly love getting to know each one’s personality. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and look after their dogs of all breeds and sizes. I’m comfortable with puppies, senior dogs, and those who need a little extra patience or training. Whether it’s playtime, long walks, or quiet cuddles, I make sure every dog feels safe, loved, and happy while in my care. I’m currently working part time, I can care for your pet before work and after work. I will work less than 12 hours a week so I’m hoping to be available often. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always treat their space with the same respect as my own. I follow each pet’s routine closely to help them feel comfortable and secure. I make sure doors and gates are always locked, water bowls are fresh, and pets get plenty of attention, exercise, and love. I send regular photo updates so you can feel confident your furry family member is happy and safe while you’re away.

“Brina was fantastic. She bonded with our dog and two cats easily. She checked in daily with updates and reached out if she had questions. She left our house neat and tidy. She is kind and responsible. I highly recommend her.”

About: For the past four years, I have raised and cared for chickens, lambs, and goats for our county fair. My responsibilities included feeding, cleaning pens, changing water, and walking and training each animal one to two times daily. I always made sure to dedicate consistent, quality time to properly train and care for each of my animals. While these are not the specific types of animals I would be caring for in this position, I believe this experience reflects my strong work ethic, responsibility, and ability to care for animals of all sizes and needs. In addition to my fair experience, I have had animals my entire life. Currently, I have three dogs and ten chickens at home, and I am responsible for their daily care, including feeding, cleaning, and overall needs. My oldest dog is 15 years old, and I have been primarily responsible for his care for the past seven years. Most of my experience is with small dogs under 20 pounds, but I have also walked and cared for larger dogs weighing around 100 pounds. Additionally I have been a prominent member of Tokay FFA’s Veterinary science team, on this team I’ve learned dozens of minor medical procedures that I am confident in doing such as administration of various medications via oral, aural, and injections, bandage wrapping and removal, and the concept of safe handling with all kinds of animals. I am well versed in many species of animals, ages, and sizes so I hope to be a good fit for your beloved pets. I am currently on summer break and will be attending college this coming fall, as of right now my schedule is fairly open. T is a few days where my hours may change, but overall I am available at all times of day every day to fit your needs. Times are subject to change and if I ever have a conflict I will be sure to notify you with proper prior notice to ensure your pets are taken care of. If there is fences at your home I will always be sure to lock and close them behind me if your pets are inside, I am also well versed in handling larger dogs/animals so I will not easily be pushed to the side if your pet is prone to doing so. I am confident in my animal handling skills and if your dog needs to be fenced in or crated I am confident I can do so.

I usually take my dog on 3 or 4 short or medium walks There is a fenced dog play area outside. I usually take the dogs for a walk along the marina. About: I've been housesitting since 2010, mainly cats and dogs. Multi-pet houses don't bother me and I'm good at keeping with your fur kids' schedules. I have and RVT license that is current and have been an RVT for over 10 years. I took a break from housesitting to work at animal hospitals, including a 24-hour critical care hospital in the ICU. Medications and medical treatments are no problem for me. I have an open schedule and am comfortable with either staying at your home for your pet's comfort, or I can visit everyday to make sure they are cared for. I adjust to their wants and needs and stick to their schedule. I'm low stress and understand that sometimes pets just need to warm up to you. As for my personal pets, there's four cats with totally different personalities that run the house (I just live there).
About: I am a dedicated and experienced pet lover with 9 years of hands-on pet care experience. I raised my female Pit Bull Terrier from the time she was just 2 months old and cared for her throughout every stage of her life. During that time, I provided daily care, companionship, and basic training, teaching her commands such as sit, shake, lay down, high five, and dance. I recently lost her, which has only strengthened my love and respect for animals. I would be honored to provide attentive, patient, and loving care while helping train and enrich your pet’s daily routine. Pet care fits perfectly into my daily routine. I currently work nights, which gives me full availability during the day to provide attentive pet sitting in my home or yours. I truly enjoy starting my mornings and afternoons with walks or jogs, making it easy for me to give pets consistent exercise, companionship, and care throughout the day. Your pet would receive plenty of attention, activity, and a calm, structured daytime routine. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. I have a secure cement backyard and a pool that is closely monitored to ensure a safe environment at all times. I also live extremely close to a park with a large open field, perfect for supervised walks, exercise, and play. Inside, my home is spacious and pet-friendly, allowing pets to freely roam, relax, and feel comfortable in a safe, trusted environment that makes them feel at home!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Herald on Rover is $80.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 2,595 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Herald. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Herald walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Herald maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Herald choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
