Margaret took great care of the pups. I think the dogs had such a great time in her care, they would have liked us to take a few more days of vacation. In all seriousness, Margaret is responsible, caring and we'll definitely reach out to her the next time we need pet sitting. I highly recommend her.

We had a fantastic experience with Chloe! From start to finish, she was incredibly communicative, keeping us updated and ensuring we felt at ease while we were away. Our dog absolutely *loves* Chloe, and it's clear she has a natural connection with animals. She even provided us with some valuable insights into our dog’s habits while on walks. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about your pet and goes the extra mile, we highly recommend Chloe! We'll definitely be booking with her again.

About: My love for animals started at a young age; always the one to bring home the stray dog. From the wild to the domestic, I am a true animal advocate. I recognize that dogs have evolved into unique and intelligent beings, deserving of the same respect as any member of the household. I strive to assure you feel at ease knowing that your beloved pet is well taken care of in a safe and secure environment. Daily pics sent via email or text are provided. A plan for your pooch's stay at my Guest House will be tailored to your dog's individual personality, behavioral patterns, and owner preferences. If your pet needs 24/7 supervision, please inquire about availability before booking your reservation. A convenient location, we have a large shaded and fenced back yard for little dogs to explore and romp. Medium-sized pooches can be accompanied on walks around the pet-friendly neighborhood. A comfy bed awaits your pup for a sound night's sleep. Recently retired, so I can devote even more time to your fury family. Frequent home check-ins or dog walks are provided in the immediate Lodi area. All pets have their own preference. When boarding at Sleepy Pooch, pets are well supervised. Frequent outdoor activity is offered in a large fenced back yard. Larger dogs can be walked daily, if desired. Your loved one can sleep in the bedroom, alone in a kennel, or with the host’s pooch if he/she prefers. For pets who prefer to stay home, your host assures security of your property when entering and exiting. A mask will be worn at all times while inside your home. I assess the situation to identify any housekeeping issues that need to be addressed to keep your pet and home safe while you are away. Any mail or packages are brought inside. Cat boxes will be thoroughly cleaned at all times. Rest assured that I will take responsibility for your pet as if he/she is one of my own family members. DOG WALKING NOTE. Please have doggy leashed and ready to pick up for their walk. If your request involves entering the home or property to retrieve and prep the dog for a walk, select “Drop-in Visit” and add a note to request a walk during the visit. —Proof of current unexpired rabies vaccination is required for all pets—

About: Since I was old enough to walk, animals have been a loving part of my life. Growing up in a household where pets were treated as family, taught me that every dog and cat has a unique personality and set of needs. I am particularly skilled at reinforcing consistent routines. If you are working on leash training or basic commands like 'sit' and 'stay,' I make sure to incorporate those into our walks so your progress doesn't stall. I am also experienced with senior care, understanding that sometimes a 'walk' is more about a slow sniff-around-the-block and some gentle companionship than a fast-paced walk. My professional life is uniquely flexible, which allows me to be a great anchor for an early morning walk or early afternoon walk. I am available Mon-Thurs 5am-7:30am and 3:30pm to 8:30pm. Friday, Saturday and Sundays I am available all day for those walks and check ins that are needed when errands outs are the priority. I will treat your home with the same level of respect I’d want for my own. My process is thorough: I double check that all doors are deadbolted, alarm systems are set, and water bowls are topped off before I leave. To keep you in the loop, I provide detailed Rover Cards after every visit. You’ll receive photos of our adventures, a map of our walk, and a summary of all 'business' handled. If a mess occurred while you were away, I handle the clean up thoroughly so you can come home to a fresh house and a happy, relaxed pet.

Amber has stayed with our pets at our house multiple times over the past few years and has always done a great job. Our dog and cat are always happy to see her, and the dog can be very particular about who he likes. She does a good job getting our high energy border-collie mix enough exercise! During the most recent stay, Amber couldn’t watch the pets the entire time we were gone so she had to hand off to another sitter. She offered to meet with the new sitter to make sure our pets were comfortable with the new person and she also checked in with us after the new sitter took over to make sure that they showed up. Amber previously took excellent care of a senior dog and cat for us when they needed special care and medication multiple times a day. I highly recommended Amber to anyone!

Rebecca has a natural ability to connect with timid dogs. Our dog typically takes a long time to warm up to new people, but during our meet-and-greet, Rebecca immediately got on her level—literally sitting on the floor to build trust. That same patience and attentiveness carried throughout her stay, and it was clear our dog felt safe and secure in her care. Rebecca is also an excellent communicator—I received frequent updates and plenty of photos, which gave me real peace of mind. Just as important, she treated our home with genuine respect and left it even better than she found it. Her thoughtfulness and professionalism truly stand out.

About: I've grown up with animals of all types and have extensive experience with dog behavior and training. I have a calm yet confident presence when working with animals that allows them to respect and respond appropriately. I currently have a 7 yr old Shih Tzu and a 2 yr old Maine Coon, and help my mom and siblings and daughter with their own dogs frequently (a Goldendoodle, a Frenchie, a Husky, and another Shih Tzu). I work remotely full-time and would love to earn extra income by pet sitting! For drop-in visits, I am fully available Sat/Sun, but Mon-Fri I'm only available between 6:00-7:30am and any time after 4:00pm. As long as I can work from your home during the week for consecutive overnight weekday stays that require me there 24/7, I am more than open to that as well. I would follow any specific directions and ensure your pet's regular routines and comforts are followed as closely as possible in my care. I am also comfortable making any decisions in real-time as needed to accommodate.

Megan took care of 2 basset hounds an indoor cat and two outdoor cats , in which did an amazing job with them all. I’m guessing the pets are sad she has left but will hire again as she watered our plants picked up after the animals. Megan really bonded well with all the animals. The house was left as I left as she stayed for a week. Megan is the perfect person to take care of your pets in your needs.

FAQs for House Sitting - Youngstown

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Youngstown on Rover is $54.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 2,007 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Youngstown. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Youngstown walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Youngstown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Youngstown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Youngstown. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
