“My fiancé and I were passing through the area and had to attend a funeral on the way to vacation. Vanessa and her husband were fantastic, they were so flexible for our schedule and helpful to watch Jameson for only a few hours on a Sunday. They have a gorgeous fenced in backyard where Jameson and their sweet pup Storm played. Additionally, they were so personable and sweet. We’d definitely recommend them!”
“Django is always happy to go to Joanna. She takes great care of him and receiving pictures throughout the day showing what Django is doing makes me feel great knowing that he is being well cared for. I highly recommend Joanna to care for your bestie.”

“kierra was wonderful. she took great care of queen while we were out for the day. she would constantly send us pictures to reassure us our dog was in great hands. even her children were great and loving to our dog. we will be using kierra again soon with no hesitation.”

About: I'm a very caring person who has two dogs of my own. they get a lot of attention and are always out for a walk I'm also always giving snacks out their able to relax in the rooms their able to play with other dogs my dogs are friendly which makes most dogs comfortable to play with them. I love playing with the animals. I also enjoy petting. I can give then baths and do their nails. I'm also able to shave them if you would like. I've had pets all my life so I am able to deal with pets. I feel like pets should be treated like humans because they have feelings just like we do. Many people don't understand animals but I think it's easy all they want is love and attention. I’m currently free everyday of the week at any time so I can work with the schedule you choose to provide me with it’s no issue I don’t have a fenced yard but the little babies will go for a walk three or 4 times through out the day so that’s a plus.
About: 💠 Hello! I offer pet care for when you’re not able to be there. I am available for drop-in visits, pet sitting, pet daycare, and also pet walking (even for cats!). 🚙 I currently provide pet care services for most of the Nassau County area and some parts of Nassau-Queens border. I am also able to travel to Manhattan with added transportation coverage. I am local: Repeat services booked with me receive special accommodations & rates. 🌃 Messages that are sent after hours on Rover may be responded to on the following day. 🔹 I’m experienced with small breeds, or toy breeds, specifically Pomeranians, been around them all my life, including newborns and senior dogs who were raised starting as puppies. 🔹 Experienced with docile cat breeds, in particular Persian, Himalayan, Ragdoll, Maine Coon and other related cat breeds. 🔹 Have experience with Goldfish, Bettas and birds such as Budgies, so knowledgeable about care. 🐾 I’m intuitive and pay attention to picking up the different ways a dog or cat expresses nonverbal communication, they constantly give us cues. About Me: I own a color-point Persian cat who is 7 years old that I enjoy spoiling. I can speak Italian, enjoy gardening, art, sewing, yoga, tennis & pilates. I’m a fan of the original Twilight movie directed by Catherine Hardwicke. 🐾 I’m currently providing pet care for a King Charles Cavalier who has mobility issues and dietary restrictions, but he is such a big mush! I am also caring for a special needs 4 month old kitten who needs to be syringe-fed, given both topical & oral medication on schedule, along with helping her with using a litter box. In addition to assisting with care of a (palm-sized) rescue kitten who is less than one month old needing to be bottle fed every few hours, given antibiotic medication for her eyes and frequent cleaning with wet wipes, due to being too young to know how to use a litter box. I have found it to be extremely rewarding and willing to look after a few more furbabies within my local area. 🔹 I’m trustworthy and reliable, I would always practice good manners. Respectful of privacy when I’m in a client’s home. I make sure that when I’m with your pet, safety is an upmost priority.
“We really appreciated and not being able to take our Sofie so last minute. She was very pleasant and friendly. Her accommodations were clean and orderly. Sofie took to her right away. I know that if I’m in the area, she is the person I will call!”

“From the very start, Pamela made us very comfortable by inviting us to meet before sitting for Clare, which we didn’t feel was necessary. Her warmth and professionalism was the perfect combination. Upon arriving to her home, Pamela immediately made Clare feel like a member of her family, showing us around, giving us confidence Clare was in good hands! During Clare’s stay, we could tell she was having fun as Pamela sent photos of Clare lounging and videos of her enjoying her stay. When we picked Clare up, she was in no rush to leave! She clearly enjoyed her stay with Pamela and her husband. We look forward to calling on Pamela again!”

“Alba is wonderful! She takes such good care of peaches :) We trust her with both day boarding & overnight stays. She always sends pictures & videos & we are always at peace knowing our baby is in good hands.”

About: My family and I all love animals, so we applied to be pet's sitters at home care. We have a independent house with a yard, and there will always be someone at home 24 hours a day. The pets can move freely at home without too many restrictions. We have regularly clean to the house to ensure the clean and hygiene environment for all pets. I have over a year of experience in taking care of cats and over six years of experience in taking care of dogs. The longest time I took care of a cat was for two months. At the beginning, the cat would hide under the sofa for a week, but lately he became completely unrestrained and would lie on the bed together, play hide-and-seek with me, and explore every corner of the house. When the weather was good, the dogs could play freely in the yard. Welcome all cats and dogsto my home, we are the best friends of your pets! We can keep daily routine for all pet's. I am working part-time on weekends and I will come back at 4PM , but my family members are off on weekends. And my family members and I take care of all pets together. “It’s always a good sign when Charlie pulls on his lead to get into the sitter’s house. He seems to have enjoyed himself which makes us feel good leaving him with Kristie.”

“Tina was so awesome to work with! She watched our super high energy 2 year old lab mix (Kenzie) for daycare at her home. She sent lots of pictures and updates and made sure to ask us lots of information about our dog before we dropped her off. I appreciated how much communication she provided and all of the pictures she sent!”

Other than that I am very free for now! In my home I have a huge clean yard that runs through the back, side and front it is fenced so the dogs could run freely around for some daily exercise. “She's amazing. She did a great job taking care of my dog. She treated him very kindly, and Blake gets very happy when he sees her. She followed all of my dog's care instructions to the tee, took him to the bathroom on schedule, and did everything necessary to maintain his routine. She really shows love and respect for animals.”

“Friendly & very knowledgeable hosts. Gizmo had a great time and i know he had a blast with all the pics I received. I will definitely bring him back again for all the other options this family offers. 👍🏾👍🏾”

“Michelle was amazing with Milo! This was our first time leaving him with someone else, so I was a little nervous, but she made the whole experience so much easier and more comfortable. She was very attentive, communicative, and clearly experienced with dogs, which gave me a lot of reassurance. I really appreciated the updates and how she made sure Milo felt safe and cared for. When I picked him up, he was happy and relaxed, which means everything to me as a dog mom. It was clear he was in good hands the entire time. The pickup and drop-off process was also smooth and convenient, which I loved. Overall, I had a great experience and would absolutely trust Michelle with Milo again!”

Kierra watched my dog for a few hours during the day and it was a good experience. She was kind, easy to communicate with, and made the drop-off and pick-up smooth. I appreciated that she sent a couple of updates and photos, which helped me feel comfortable while I was away. My dog seemed well cared for when I returned. I would book with her again.

Once we met Nicole in person, it was quite evident the extent of knowledge, caring, and experience this young lady has for the animals, namely cats and dogs. She made suggestions and it worked, and once we left our pet dog Bella with her, she sent us pictures and videos to show how she was enjoying her time with Nicole and the other pets. She is very caring and has extra toys for the pets to play with, and a fenced backyard for them to run around free, which they all clearly liked a lot. Thank you Nicole for being so wonderful to our Bella and for the depth of knowledge and caring you have for the pets. Stay well.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 10,889 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Hempstead. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hempstead commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 10,889 sitters in Hempstead, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
