“Jessica was amazing! She walked my two dogs, a high strung chihuahua and elderly dog (14 y.o.), for 30min for 4 days. She reached out and asked if I wanted her to meet the dogs before walking them which was great. The chihuahua tends to bark his head off at strangers, and I wasn't sure how he'd react (he ended up running away from her the first day for 15min, sorry Jessica). The older dog had diarrhea throughout the house one day, and cleaning up after something like that isn't really what I consider her job. I told her she didn't need to worry about it, and I'd deal with it when I got back. However, she ended up cleaning up as much as she could anyways (that's going to be a big tip). Besides my dogs being a huge pain. She always responded quickly and sent a lot of pictures from the walks.”

“Our dogs absolutely loved their time with Anne. You can tell that she's a true dog lover and cares about them as if they were her own. We plan on using her on a weekly basis -- she is that good.”

“Came on time to meet us and our dog. Arrived on time even on a very hot day to walk, feed and play with our dog. My son (in a wheelchair so he can't walk him) was here and said she treated our dog so well the whole time and really seemed to enjoy him. She is just what we want for someone caring for our dog. We feel very comfortable having her come while we have to be away for a day!! I highly recommend her.”

“Upon first meeting her, Cheyenne was friendly and made her availability flexible and easy to work with. My dogs instantly took a liking to her and you can tell she is an animal lover, she will remember your dogs traits and preferences and tailor to their individual needs. She follows care instructions well and is very communicative. Sending you plenty of cute pet pics and a detailed care card. My dogs had a great walk! I could tell they had a lot of enrichment and fun at their pace. She was puntual and professional and I would recommend her for any service. Another bonus is that she's insured and knows pet CPR so rest assured your pet is always in caring knowledgeable hands!”

About: I have experience caring for large dogs and have had three rescue Labrador retrievers as an adult. I have also had experience as a dog foster working with local shelters. As a recent retiree, I am spending my time between volunteering with my daughter's school and the local humane society, leaving plenty of time to spend with your fur babies. I have a fenced yard and a friendly 7 year-old black Labrador. We have two crates if any of the pups need to be crated. If in your home, I will follow instructions provided to insure that your pup receives the proper care.
“Paige was great! 5 star experience all around from scheduling (she was flexible and responsive) to seeing how kind she was with our new puppy. She even took a picture of him that is by far the best photo we have so far. Thanks again!”

“Lucas is an amazing person to be with your furry friend. Lucas is so sweet to my Bellie-Ann. He is very prompt, walks her, feeds her, has done in home visits. I can’t recommend Lucas enough! He is great!”

About: I am an experienced dog sitter hoping to be your pet's new best friend! I am a college student at Mary Washington majoring in Conservation Biology. I will be working with animals in my career path, and I have been dog sitting/walking for 7 years. I love dogs, and my family and I have always had our own dogs. Throughout high school, I volunteered with my local pet rescue working with foster dogs. In high school I also took a Veterinary Science class for two years. We learned about restraint, grooming, care/husbandry, behavior and training, and much more. I am currently a student at UMW, so I have classes everyday. I also am on the UMW Women's Club Soccer team. I have plenty of time throughout the day to care for your pet's needs, but I would also request a more flexible schedule. I am careful to read and follow specific instructions to ensure I know what you and your pet(s) require. I am strong and comfortable working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
About: My name is Michelle. I’ve been dog sitting/walking for family/friends for around 11 years and have loved it. I have my own Bassett Hound named Cooper and he’s such a love-bug! I also have two cats Lester and Cici. I absolutely love animals and always treat them as if they’re my own. I tend to always feel really close to pets after I watch them, so feel free to ask me for help again! I’m so excited to meet and play with so many wonderful fur babies. If you have any questions, please message me.
“Erin came through for us in a pinch! We felt very relieved knowing she was there to get our Niko through the day without us home. She even came into an unfortunate garbage bin excavation that had been tracked across the floor with a guilty Niko suspiciously at the scene of the crime (lesson learned) and Erin went out of her way to clean up the mess. She was very proactive in communications and provided all the details of his care. Will definitely be booking again and highly recommend!”

About: I have been a pet owner for a majority of my life from cats, dogs, rodents, horses, and birds; they are a big part of my life and very dear to me. I have worked and lived with cats and kittens of different personalities, puppies, senior, and special needs dogs. Additionally, I have skills in dog training and teaching. Currently, I work part-time so I have a lot of time to be able to provide for caring for a client’s pet during the week as well! Animals know their routines well and are good at communicating their wants and needs. I find it very easy to figure out when they are wanting/needing to go outside, expend some extra energy, or just want to relax in a quiet environment.
About: I have been studying and taken care of animals my whole life. My future career is being a vet. I can't wait to meet your pets and you! I'm working a part-time job. I just finished school and I believe this would be a great opportunity for me to having a better understanding animals better for becoming a vet. I have a fence yard, a lot a open space and a big park near my house. Your animals will be safe with me. And will have a lot of fun with me.
“Chloe has been a lifesaver!! She sends us detailed messages and cute pictures of our dog, Buddy, from each and every visit. It is very clear she is an animal person and trustworthy in her patience and loving interactions. Thank you so much!”

“Svetlana always does a very good job with Holly. She is very conscientious and takes good care of my dog. I’m very pleased with her as a walker. I’ve used her many times and will continue to use her in the future.”

About: I’ve always had pets my whole life of all different kinds. I’m patient and playful with animals. I have cared for mostly seniors and puppies. I currently sit a senior Boxer with arthritis so I have experience with administering meds and providing comfort. I’m working with only one family with three dogs right now, so my availability is pretty open! I also do well with a lot of pets, as I live on a small homestead. I do best in a client’s home as I believe it makes the pet the most comfortable. I also have too many animals in my personal home to feel comfortable allowing my animals to interact with other pets. My pig isn’t the biggest fan of dogs these days. I prefer a backyard when possible so I have space to play with your buddy, but I also love a long walk. Whatever is most convenient and comfortable, I can work with just about anything.
About: My availability doesn't always match what's on my profile so please reach out to me. I've taken care of dogs as small as chihuahuas and as large as great danes. I also have experience with dogs as young as 7 weeks and as old as 13 years. Can administer meds and provide wound care. Have owned taken care of up to 5 dogs at once. I don't have any dogs currently, but I will be getting a puppy soon! I'm a student and I work part time. I already make money in other areas of my life so this is purely for the love of dogs. The sooner advanced notice the better. I will feed them, do bathroom breaks, play, mental and physical enrichment, free training (I am an amateur trainer so it is for free and for fun), etc. I can administer meds as well.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Fredericksburg
I truly appreciate the excellent service I received. She was very attentive and made me feel like she genuinely cared about my dog. I especially appreciate her accepting my request last minute and still providing such great service. I will definitely be using her again and highly recommend her to my friends.

Cheyenne is an absolute pro! She replied promptly to my dog walking request and was able to quickly set up a meet & greet. She was very patient with my dog, who had never had a “stranger” as a dog walker/sitter and was able to successfully walk him on their first one-on-one despite his anxiety. She kept me up to date on her arrival times and almost immediately sent my dog’s report card out after his walks. After only a couple of days, my dog really warmed up to her, wanting her to stay and play. I’m glad I was able to find someone who’s obviously great with animals but is also trustworthy and professional!

Erin came through for us in a pinch! Will definitely be booking again and highly recommend!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
